Hinode gave me a link to this nifty site called Daizenshuu EX, where there are scans of Dragon Ball artworks by other famous mangakas. Mangakas of Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach, just to name a few, paid homage to Akira Toriyama by giving their own interpretation of Dragon Ball.

I grew up watching the English dubbed Dragon Ball on television. Admittedly, Dragon Ball baptized me to the world of anime and anime fandom. So, it is largely thanks to Akira Toriyama, creator of Dragon Ball, that made me the anime addict that I am today. That is why I think it is really awesome that we get to see our beloved Dragon Ball characters through the eyes of other artists as a tribute.
I do find myself liking some of the other artwork more than that of Toriyama’s, but it would not be fair to say that these are better than the original, for, to each his own. I hope there will be more similar works of this nature.

It’s like paying tribute to the Eraserheads for spearheading Pinoy Rock.
