Kin-iro no Corda episode 15 (summary of the hilarious scene of the girls’ conversation regarding the guys)
When Amou appears in the music practice room, Hino protects herself and Fuyuumi from any rumors and intrigue by telling her that she doesn’t have any interesting news… then Amou tells them about hearing some girls talking about how they find the five guys of the competition, since those five are really popular among the girls. Then Amou asks Hino to say who among them is her type…
Amou brings up the rumor about her and Tsuchiura going out, and is about to bug Hino about it when Hino’s accompanist Mori-san comes to the practice room. Then Amou tells Mori-san that she must know much about the four guys of the music academy, and so asks her about her opinion about the guys instead. So she starts telling about how she thinks about them (or how she sees them in their usual day-to-day activities, and their character…) First she tells about Tsukimori, who is in the same class as her. According to her, Tsukimori is skilled in the violin, and is also handsome, so many people admires him. But then again because of his proud attitude, he doesn’t have much friends… ^^;; All of them agrees regarding this, hehe… and Hino further adds that it’s because Tsukomori doesn’t quite get along with people, and says that it would be better if that part of him would be better (then Amou-san adds that it would be better if he gets along well with people, much like Hihara-kun, hence the imaginary Tsukimori-kun with that smile
) The girls (though I think it’s Mori speaking) says that if that would be so, then it would be another person and not Tsukimori. But then Amou-san quotes something like ‘if his attitude goes on like that, then he would have a hard time in the society’ (then Mori agrees with this, and becomes so into her discussion with Amou that they don’t notice Hino speaking) Hino was telling them that there’s no need for them to worry over such things…
And then Amou-san changes the topic to Hihara-kun, then Mori tells her about seeing an earlier encounter with Hihara-kun, where he drops his handkerchief and two girls sees it, picks it up and gives him his handkerchief. He apologizes for the bother and thanks them for it, then the girls tells about how cute Hihara-kun is. Amou-san reacts to this and says that she would imagine the girls going head over heels and would say ‘Hihara-san suteki~ (Hihara san is so handsome / great~) instead of just saying he’s cute. Mori agrees and says how could they just say “Hihara-san is cute~” Then, Amou thinks and imagines Yunoki being admired that way instead… (though Amou and Mori are both not the type of girls who is head over heels over him) ^^;;
And then, Mori imagines the scene with Shimizu-kun, and both the “fangirls” react like “uh oh, I know what this feeling is… so beautiful~ viva kouhai (hurray for kouhai)~ Then Hino tells Fuyuumi not to go near the two since they are quite dangerous (or is a bad influence
) then we see the four guys who have been listening all the while to the girls’ conversation
Tsuchiura asks who has the guts the go in first…
then, Hino thinks about some earlier incident with Tsuchiura, and how the way he replies is relaxing / sweet / invigorating (sawayaka)… Amou sees Hino giggling and asks who she thought about just now. Then, Amou brings up the “violin romance” story, and then tells Hino that “you play the violin, right? Who among the guys do you find attracted to the most? (which makes the four guys all ears in intrigue and curiosity to find out this info), and then Yunoki interrupts… ^^;;;
Regarding the second question, Hihara indeed asked Hino to call him by his first name, but Hino was too shy and tells him she hesitates to do so… (aww.. poor Hihara)
Kin-iro no Corda episode 16
the episode starts with a brief recap of the scene between Tsuchiura-kun and her ex-gf, where she’s telling him how he has become more gentle than before and wonders who caused him to changed that way…
then the actual start of episode 16…
Hihara and Yunoki are walking together, with Hihara still happily wondering about what happened the day before. He touches his arm as he remembers the time Hino put the bandaid on him. Yunoki wonders why he’s so happy, and was about to tell him about what happened, when he becomes embarrassed and tells him it’s nothing.
Then, the students who are part of the concours are gathered because Ousaki sempai is asking them to lend him a hand in showing a bunch of kids how to play the violin. Tsuchiura, Yunoki, and Fuyuumi declines because they have something else to do. Ousaki sempai tells Hino and Tsukimori that he wishes that both of them would be able to go with him, since both of them play the violin. Hino says she doesn’t mind and agrees to go, while Tsukimori reluctantly agrees as Kanazawa-sensei sort of persuades him to do so. Hihara gladly volunteers to go, but Kanazawa-sensei comments that he would only be doing menial tasks there since his instrument won’t be of much use (since they would be teaching violin… ^^). Yunoki defends him by saying he would be able to bring joy to the kids there as he could get along with them easily, and Kanazawa-sensei says that it only shows that he would be doing menial tasks indeed, and of course Hihara tells Kanazawa-sensei he’s mean… Hino comforts him by saying ‘let’s do our best!’, and Hihara replies ‘Yeah, I’m looking forward to it, Kaho-chan’. Tsuchiura-kun who has always been sensitive to this kind of stuff, notices (and was surprised by) how Hihara now calls Hino by her first name. Shimizu-kun also volunteers to go, and when Ousaki-sempai says something about him being of use in them having a quartet, he goes into this “quartet moe~” mode (seems like he’s been wanting to do this for quite some time, just haven’t had the chance to)
Oh, and since Ousaki-sempai could play the viola, he plays it instead of the violin for the quartet.
Then they proceeded to the place where the kids are. The first thing the “quartet team” (Hino, Tsukimori, Shimizu, Ousaki) had to do was perform their quartet. Hino’s really nervous since they only started practicing for this an hour ago. She was really hesitant to play and tells them it’s impossible for her to play something she hasn’t played or even heard of before. Tsukimori encourages her by saying that he would be playing on the difficult parts, and Hino becomes surprised with this kind gesture of Tsukimori and says “eh?” in surprise… of course Tsukimori gets somewhat annoyed and replies with a “What? (is there something wrong / strange with what I said?)” Then, that’s how the quartet was decided.
Their performance starts, and at first they couldn’t blend well… Hihara, who indeed ended up doing the menial task of bringing stuff here and there, wonders if Hino and the others’ performance have ended, as he wants to go see their quartet performance.
Then, the quartet performance still continues… Tsukimori notices how Hino’s tempo is way faster than it should be, and tells her how she should follow his tempo in the next part of the piece… then, by doing so, they were finally able to do blend, and become a real quartet ^^ All the kids were in awe, and Hino was also overjoyed by how it turned out to be great (halfway till the end, where they were able to blend well) Shimizu then asks if they’re going to do an encore..
As Tsukimori leaves the room, Hino catches up with him and thanks him for his help earlier. Tsukimori tells her “What are you going to do with that level of playing / performance? Practice more” Hino agrees and apologizes to him. With Hino’s usual reaction of talking back to him in annoyance to his proud attitude, Tsukimori becomes surprised and tells her how she’s more humble / honest than usual (and smiles). Hino was also surprised by this reaction and comments on how Tsukimori seems to have softened up (become more gentle). Then, Hihara arrives and finds out that the performance has ended. Hihara says that it’s such a shame as he wanted to go see it, then Tsukimori frankly tells him that there’s nothing good about it anyway. With this, Hino takes back her earlier comment regarding the change in Tsukimori’s attitude ^^;;
Ousaki and the others started teaching the kids how to play the violin, and Hihara joins the kids too. Hino was surprised to see him, but he says he wanted to try out playing the violin too ^^ Hino corrects Hihara’s posture and the way he holds the violin, and Hihara ends up blushing in embarrassment :3 Hihara tries playing and was overjoyed when he produces a sound out of the violin.
Tsukimori, who was also teaching some kids, ends up gaining little fangirls as they admire his violin prowess and bishieness After his “lecture”, he asks if they have any questions and all of them replies with a “yes” with eagerness.
Hihara and Hino observes the kids, and Hihara comments on how the kids seem to be having fun. Hino reflects on her own violin-playing experience, and agrees that they really are having fun (with a sad look on her face). Then Hino speaks her thoughts out loud and says that it would’ve been great if she was able to start playing the violin at a young age (like the kids).
The activity with the kids ended, and Ousaki-sempai was inspecting all the violins they brought and notices that there was a violin (or violins, as he was not sure how many was missing) missing, and wonders if there were any other ones left in the classroom. Hino volunteers to go get it, and Ousaki-sempai tells her to ask for help if it’s difficult for her to carry them all.
When Hino arrives in the classroom, she sees that there was only one left and says that there’s no need for any help anymore since she could carry it by herself. Then she starts wondering how she hasn’t had any experience with playing an ordinary violin, and tries out playing using the violin that was left in the classroom. She was surprised by the difference of how she plays with the magical violin and the ordinary violin, and gets quite depressed as she tells herself “what a horrid sound”… Hino says that her playing seem to be off (literally, she says that her left arm is not following her other arm, or rather they are not in harmony). Feeling guilt as she was once again reminded by her “deceiful playing”, she tells herself that she knows that it doesn’t have anything to do with the sound (but rather because she could only play well with the magical violin)
Tsukimori hears her horrid playing, and also heard what she said… Tsukimori then asks what was it that she knows, then further questions the way she played just then, and asks her to explain it to him. Hihara arrives at the scene to help out Hino, who he thought was having a hard time carrying the violin. Hino sees this as a chance to escape from the pinch she was in, and ends up running away from Tsukimori.
Hino runs off to the playground and sits on the swing to spend some time alone thinking about the earlier incident with Tsukimori… She thinks about she will be able to hide the truth from Tsukimori, then reflects on how she always deceives people when something like this happens. Hino wonders when has she started to become that way…
Then, the kids sees her and runs up to her, commenting on how great her peformance was. The kids tell her how they want to practice more and more to be come as good as her, then becomes filled with guilt instead of joy. She then asks the kids whether they hate liars, and all the kids says “yes, because lying is bad (and shouldn’t be done)”. Hino replies “It really is so, isn’t it? (of course people hate liars)” Hihara sees her in her depressed state and was worried about her.
The following day, some girls are making fun of Hihara, and since he was dazing off worrying about Hino, the girls clipped his hair without him noticing.. ^^;; Yunoki sees this and asks him the reason why he doesn’t seem to be himself, and Hihara replies with a “Really?” Yunoki then asks how was the activity with Ousaki-sempai. Hihara replies that it was fun and there were a lot of kids, though the way he talked didn’t reflect the fun that he was saying… Yunoki wonders what happened to him, and Hihara tells him “it’s nothing… just that I was suddenly able to witness so many kinds of emotion in an instant, and I don’t understand the reason behind what happened… just thinking about it makes me all confused”
Then scene changes to Tsuchiura, who sees Hino on the rooftop sitting near the door. Seeing her all down and depressed, he asks her if something happened. Hino was about to confess to him about something (about her deceit…), then hesitates and ends up telling him that there’s nothing wrong with her. Tsuchiura tells her how her face shows her depression, and knows that something must be up… and then tells Hino, “perhaps it’s something you can’t tell me about?” Hino tells Tsuchiura that it wasn’t something like that… and then Tsukimori also shows up on the rooftop which startles Hino. Hino told them that she has to go back to the classroom, just to avoid facing Tsukimori. Tsukimori asks Tsuchiura if he had known Hino before the competition, and Tsuchiura tells him that he doesn’t. Tsukimori says “I see… (realizing the fact that Tsuchiura doesn’t know Hino that well too)” Tsuchiura asks him if something happened, since Hino ran off immediately when she saw him, and Tsukimori replies “nothing”. Tsuchiura notices this odd behavior, and wonders if something really happened between the two.
Tsuchiura sees his soccer team captain and team-mate, and asks how they did in the district competition. The captain tells him that he doesn’t need to concern himself about it, since the third selection is coming up…
After class, Hino bids farewell to her friends as she has to go practice. Mio-chan tells her how admirable she is for working hard to practice everyday, then Hino thinks to herself that she has to do so… because if she finds it painful to deceive people with playing the magic violin, then the least she can do is to practice more and more for her to become closer to becoming the “real thing”, and not just someone “fake”… Hino tells heself to practice more, and more, and more.. and the way she was playing was already ending up in desperation, then Tsukimori grabs her wrist and stops her from playing because at that rate, she was going to end up ruining her violin. Wanting to run away from confronting Tsukimori again, Hino tells him that she’s going to leave if he’s going to use the room for practice. Tsukimori then asks her “why are you running away? You still haven’t explained what was with that violin sound yesterday. ” Hino tries to hide the truth from him by saying that she just wasn’t playing seriously then. She thinks about the lie she said, and thinks that she’s deceiving him again, but says that there’s nothing she can do at that time but to hide the truth… Tsukimori tells her that it doesn’t sound like the way she normally plays, and asks her if she’s keeping something from him. Tsukimori’s grip on Hino’s wrist becomes even tighter, and so Hino forces him to let go of her. And then, Tsukimori tells her how everything that concerns her about her is a mystery. He tells her of the rumor he heard that it was only recently that she started playing the violin, and that he thinks it’s impossible that she’s already able to play something that well, considering she only heard of it. He further adds that if someone only recently started playing the violin, their musical knowledge would of course be very little, and would end up playing the way she did at that time (with the ordinary violin). Tsukimori also tells Hino “You were playing it seriously, right? It really is strange… as though, you could only play well using that violin of yours” Hino was surprised because he hit the bull’s eye… and denies this by saying that it’s impossible.. Tsukimori replies “I also thinks so… and, no matter what secret you may have doesn’t matter to me. What matters is the feelings that you have as you participate in the competition, your sincerity towards music. What do you think, Hino? And with this, I’m afraid I can’t accept / tolerate the likes of someone like you, Hino” Hino couldn’t disagree say with what Tsukimori said, since they were all true…
P.S. Here’s the summary of the not so important scene with Kana-yan and his cat…
that scene shows how Kana-yan is letting his cat decide the order of performance of the participants of the 3rd selection, but since the cat wasn’t much help at all, he tells himself “looks like I have no choice but to do it myself” ^^;;;
