Going to post the summaries of Kin-iro no Corda I’ve posted in animesuki … starting from episode 11,16-23 (due to my hiatus because of busyness and my dengue fever absence… >.>)
Here goes episode 11 (will be posting the other ones in separate entries, to avoid the clutter):
Kin-iro no Corda episode 11 summary:
Hino, Amou, and Fuyuumi-chan spends time together in Amou’s house, who was tasked to take care of their house… Amou commends the two girls for their wonderful performance in the competition, and Fuyuumi tells them that she doesn’t deserve to be in the competition because she lack strength and skills, unlike Hino. Fuyuumi tells Hino how she admires her, and how she wants to be like her. Hino thinks that a cheat like her doesn’t deserve such comments… Fuyuumi then asks Hino if she can call her by her first name. This surprised Hino, but was delighted and tells her that it’s ok to do so.
( it’s great to see that they added this part, as we see Fuyuumi-chan opening up to Hino more )
Then we also see a day in Shimizu-kun’s life at home, where he just woke up and his hair’s a mess We also learn about how her elder sister adores dressing him up in different styles of clothing for the competition…
Scene changes to Yunoki’s house, where his grandma tells him to get home early as visitors will be coming.
In school, the result of the competition is announced, where Tsuchiura and Hino were 1st and 2nd place, respectively. This stirs up a fuss about how Tsukimori ended up last, and how the regular students beat the music students, and such… Shimizu sees this, and recalls the splendid performance of Hino and Tsuchiura, especially the latter’s. He thinks about how it was a shame that he wasn’t able to hear Tsukimori play, whilst he was looking forward to it.
Hino, on the other hand, thinks that she doesn’t deserve this, since unlike Tsuchiura who really has the talent and puts so much effort into playing the piano, she doesn’t go through as much trouble because of the magic violin.
Scene changes to Shimizu who’s looking for some book in the library, when he sees Hino sleeping. He one again recalled the great performance she showed in the competition, and thinks that she really outstood the other competitors. He snaps out of this thought however, when he sees that that book he’s looking for is with Hino’s (and she’s sleeping on it, so he didn’t know what to do
).
Tsuchiura sees Shimizu, who then congratulates him on his victory. He looks at Tsuchiura and notices how tall he is, and how he had such wide arms and big hands… and thinks how easy it would be to play the cello with such a built. Shimizu-kun then blurts out his thought of wanting to grow tall like Tsuchiura, which renders Tsuchiura speechless since he blurted this out of nowehere (Tsuchiura thinks that he seems to be talking to an alien XD).
Both of them looks at Hino and tells about what they think of her and her music. Hino was woken up by their conversation, and Tsuchiura tells her that Shimizu seems like he wants to talk to her about something (the book). Hino lends it to Shimizu, and then leaves the library.
Hino passes through the bulletin board where competition result is posted, when Tsukimori sees her and is reminded of what she said at the time when he was locked out in the cabinet (where Hino refuted what he said about giving up the struggle to get out, since there’s no meaning behind it) Tsukimori approaches her and asks what she’s doing. Hino tries to tell him that she doesn’t deserve to be in that place, and that if only Tsukimori was able to perform, he wouldn’t have been last place (this wasn’t explicitly said, but I believe this is what she meant to say). Tsukimori tells her that results are results - her being 2nd and him being last, and that this was the result of her hard work. He further adds that this is still but something in the past, and that he will surely win in the 3rd competition. He tells Hino not to think about nonsensical things and just focus on practicing.
As Hino walks to the rooftop, she reflects on what Tsukimori said, and thinks of the possibility that it was meant to encourage her (in a Tsukimori-like way ), but brushes off the idea. She sees Hihara who seems to be down… it turns out that he was thinking of what to give his brother as a birthday present. Hino thinks (out loud) what she gave her brother as a present, and Hihara was a little surprised to learn that she has a brother. Hihara asks her to help him shop for a gift, and meets Yunoki on the way. At the shop, we learn from Hihara that Yunoki also has an elder brother, and then Yunoki tells Hino that he has 2 brothers, an elder sister and a younger sister.
Hihara enthusiastically tells Hino that he has met Yunoki’s younger sister, and says that she’s really cute. Upon realizing what he just said, Hihara tells Hino that she’s also cute (making Hino all embarrassed) !
Hino and Hihara makes fun of each other as they decide on what stuff to buy, while Yunoki stares with a gloomy look… o.o
After that, Hihara shares about how he first met Yunoki. On the first day of class, Hihara thinks that Yunoki is his sempai since he seemed to know the school well… it turned out that it’s because Yunoki’s the representative of the new students, which really surprised Hihara.
Hihara tells about how he plans on continuing studying music in a university, while Yunoki says he’s going to study economics in college and would only continue his music studies until high school. Hino was surprised about this as she thinks Yunoki’s also going to further pursue music studies.
Yunoki drives Hino home, and on the way, tells her about thinking as to whether there’s a meaning behind what he’s been doing for the past three years. He tells Hino not to push herself so hard, and Hino was thankful that he was concerned about her (and then we see Yunoki’s gloomy face again… x.x)
The next day, Hino decides to just focus on practicing instead of having the ‘playing-the-magical-violin-is-unfair’ thoughts… then on the rooftop, she sees Yunoki playing. She thinks that it was a beautiful sound, yet seemed to be filled with gloom and sorrow… Yunoki notices her presence, and tells her about the piece he was playing. Hino honestly tells him about what she thought about it, that it was beautiful yet full of sorrow… and Yunoki agrees.
Hino decides to look for another place to practice, and before leaving, she tells Yunoki that she’s going to to her best from now on. She tells him that despite the fact that she going to face even more hardships in the future, she thinks that Yunoki would be in a more difficult situation than she is. She thanks him for his words of encouragement the other day, and apologizes for making him concerned. This “triggers” Yunoki’s dark side to appear, as he tells her that she’s gotta be kidding (with regards to being concerned about Hino). Yunoki confronts her and tells her “You just don’t get it, do you? You’re so noisy / You’re such a bother”…. >.>
