Newsweek Japan Does Moe
Splashed in the cover of Newsweek Japan, March 2007 issue, is a picture of a blond meido with the words 「萌える世界」, roughly translated as “World Moes” (「萌え」 appended with 「る」 to signify that it is used as a verb).
The anime moe subculture exploded last year, garnering legions of fans and followers, sparked discussions all over the Internet, inspired numerous blog entries and articles, and spawned thousands of threads in its name. Now, it will be further recognized thanks to Newsweek Japan, world domination won’t be long now!
