Spring 2007 Animes (Thoughts and Impressions) Part 2

Part 2 of my thoughts and impressions on the upcoming season’s animes… :)

5) 神曲奏界ポリフォニカ Shinkyoku Soukai Polyphonica (http://www.polyphonica.tv/) - airing April 3

Polyphonica

Introduction:
This is a world where spirits and humans coexist. In the same way as people live on the miracles brought forth by these spirits, spirits thrive on the music that these provide [or play]. Spirits could be controlled by people endowed with the ability to play music, and allow them to bring out these spirits’ power. Those who can play a special kind of music earn the title of being a 神曲楽士 (Dantist). Spirits do not normally reveal themselves, but some powerful spirits are able to materialize themselves into human or animal form. With this, they are able to live in the human society and form a good relationship with them.

And in this story comes a development of romance between a spirit by the name of コーティカルテ(Coustiecarte?) and the novice “divine musician”(?) Foron. (コーティカルテ is Foron’s “contracted spirit”, someone whom he made a pact with, so that he can have the ability to use her power)

(please note I’m still not sure if those romanization of the names are correct :|)

Impression:
Looks like an interesting fantasy series… The fact that this makes use of music as a medium, and the possible romance makes me want to watch it more ^^ Knowing that it was based on a novel by the same author as Scrapped Princess, makes it have the potential of a great story development :)

6) Romeo x Juliet (http://www.romejuli.jp/) - airing April 4

Romeo x Juliet

Ahh~ Romeo x Juliet. Need I say more? XD

I think we all know what its story is about, but well Gonzo decided to spice it up and turned into a more “action and adventure” type of anime, so we’ll be able to see Romeo and Juliet fight with their swords instead of wallowing in their anguish. We’ve already gotten a glimpse of that in the trailer - flying horses, battle scenes, and Juliet crossdressing!

Sigh, with all that said, it makes me all the more want to watch this despite its bounded sad ending (or who knows, perhaps Gonzo will surprise us :p). This is not your typical melodramatic story, so I’m pretty sure this will be interesting to watch.

[oh, and to people who haven't heard the theme song for Romeo x Juliet, go to the official site and listen to it (it's the BGM). It's the japanese version of Josh Groban's "You raise me up!" :3]

7) 鋼鉄三国志 Koutetsu Sangokushi (http://www.koutetsu-sangokushi.jp/) - airing April 5

Sangokushi

This is like… Romance of the Three Kingdoms: Next Level. A historical drama-anime set in Ancient China enhanced with “elemental” weapons and armors, and perhaps some magic or spiritual abilities to boot. Historial drama stories = great story and plot development (most of the time), in my opinion. That is enough to make me interested in this :3

8.) かみちゃまかりん Kamichama Karin (http://www.broccoli.co.jp/sp/karin/) - airing April 6

Kamichama Karin

Introduction:
Orphan Hanazono Karin is a below-average girl who just lost another person dear to her; her best friend and loyal cat, Shi-chan. While visiting Shi-chan’s grave, she meets Kujyou Kazune, a smart prettyboy who insults her right after meeting her. She runs away from him, hoping to never see his face again, but fate seems to have other ideas — the girl she bumps into the very next day is none other than Himeka, Kazune’s cousin. During her second meeting with Kazune, something strange happens to her ring, the last thing she has to remember her mother by. Afterwards, strange events happen all day around her, with no explaination. The fourth meeting with Kazune explains quite a bit; her ring has the power to turn her into a goddess. With Himeka’s support and Kazune’s guidance, Karin begins her training to become one of the divine. - from ANN

Impression:
I’ve read the first volume of the manga before, and I really found it adorable~! That, and I love Koge Donbo’s character designs! ^^ I found it not as sweet and sugary as Little Snow Fairy Sugar, but still sweet~ and has a more interesting plot / story too :3
