Touka Gettan Episode 1 [Sakura]

Finally got to watch this… :)

Nice little scene from the OP movie ;3

confusing stuff… >.>

Proceed below for my summary + thoughts on this confusing first episode =___=”

The episode starts with a scene where Touka (with his long hair… looking like the heroine) is wielding this sword blazing in red fire… and well of course we don’t know what the heck is happening… o_o

Then the scene changes, and we see Touka (still in the same dress as before), looking at the city from a hill of some sort… Her mother Yumiko calls him on his phone, telling how she misses him… then they spend minutes exchanging “Touka-chan”, “Mama”, “Touka-chan”, “Mama”… T___T”” After that, he mentions “this will soon be over, Momoka…” and we see a flashback of Touka (with his short hair), and Momoka on a date (on hanabi perhaps), where Momoka tells Touka that she wants both of them to watch hotaru (firefly) instead of doing boring stuff like watching movies or going to a karaoke. Touka sheds some tears as he remembers about these moments he and Momoka had.

(Ok… then this bodyguard-like guy shows up, talking to his “master “(?) “behind the scenes”, about successfully driving away the doubts of some people, energy being driven away… sigh… this doesn’t make any sense @_@)

Touka goes home, but before entering his house, he decides to observe his mother, who was happily talking to Nene, their maid. Then we see a glimpse of what his mother is writing… an H story as I can see -> seeing as it has the words “thrust down”, “skirt”, and “temptation” o_o

Touka spends some time in his room, and embraces Momoko’s school uniform, saying “It doesn’t matter where you are, coz we won’t meet anymore” T___T As he cries because of sadness (that Momoka is no longer there), he shines as though his energy is being poured out o.O

His mother seems to have felt this sadness and started crying too. As Nene leaves her in solitude, he passes by this guy (the same guy from earlier, who I believe is the school principal)… then lets out this fire from her finger. As the fire was suddenly extinguished (?), she senses something about Touka (a bad omen perhaps?).

As the school principal enters the room, he is welcomed by the Yumiko who is in her deranged state o.O And then he thinks about the past (yet another confusing flashback), where we see how the guy got his “red gem” eye… and we also see Yumiko (or Yuriko) being shot… T___T And then “Yumiko” confesses that she is now “Yuriko” o.O””’, and says that “Yumiko” is the name of Yuriko’s mother, while “Kiyoharu” is the name of Yuriko’s father. After “Yuriko” asks who he is, the school principal tells her that he’s Kamiazuma Kiyoharu.

The next thing we know, this girl Kikyou is now in Touka’s room, picks up this little Buddha-like figure, and mentions something about how this god has watched over Kamitsumihara o.O””

The following day, Haruhiko, the principal’s son, goes out to school… but before leaving, he asks about the condition of his father from Nene, who tells him that there’s nothing for him to worry about.

We also see another student, Shouko, who says that she feels something different (or that something will change from that time on). She mentions about “…all the monsters have been successfully driven out”, yet she doesn’t feel glad… On her way, she meets Makoto, who seems to have no problem with the current state of things, but tells her that it’s not because she’s not worrying about it, but rather because this is what Momoka wished / hoped for.

After spending quite some time crying because she feels everyone has left her alone, Yumiko narrates / draws this “story” about a girl named “Touka”, and another girl named “Momoka” T__T”’ As Yumiko continues on with her story, Nene watches her by the bamboo, saying as to how Momoka was simply a character in Yumiko’s short story, to begin with… =___=”’ And then Nene leaves the Kamiazuma household…

Now we see Yumiko typing up her story in her computer, then now Momoka shows up by the train station (a new Momoka…? o.O?).

Momoka does some batting exercise, when the train stops, and out comes Touka. They glance and stare at each other, seemingly sensing some “connection” between them… Momoka quickly finishes up eating her food, then asks Touka if he has met him somewhere before. Touka says that he doesn’t remember such a thing, and tells her that she’s weird. Momoka’s quite persistent and goes to tell him, “I’ve decided! The next time we meet… I’m not going to hesitate… to allow love to grow like a butterfly”, then he calls out his name and kisses him (pretty much to Touka’s surprise that she knows his name).

(Ok, this somewhat clears things up… that this event is now after whatever incident that happened to Momoka before.)

Touka asks her is she’s Momoka, and gladly tells him that she is Momoka.

*scratches her head* Ok… now what just happened? o.O? I also don’t know… =___=”” (All I know is that the artwork and music is great!)… makes me wonder what the next episode would be like… if it causes me any more confusion, I think I’ll just stop and wait for the actual “plot” and story builds up before watching this =____=””

Haruhiko was more of a bishie than I though, but bah… like that would be enough to make me really want to watch this… >.>”’

From what I could understand from this episode, it seems that the scene shown at the beginning has something to do with what happened to Momoko (perhaps she died / disappeared in that “battle”…?), and so Touka mourns for her loss… and now Momoka shows up again, as Touka’s mother [once again?] writes up their story (the H story)… o___O We still don’t know about the Yumiko / Yuriko and school principal past (and present). And… this Touka being regarded as a “girl” by his own mother… o_o He is a guy, right? or not… o_o?

(sigh… I ought to watch Polyphonica and blog about it too~! Sigh… now I don’t think I have the energy to >.>””)

  2. yeah… I actually think I wasted 20 minutes of my life watching this =__=” Comparing Polyphonica with this, I’d say Polyphonica is better (but perhaps it just lacks the “intriguing” part of Touka Gettan. But more so than these two, OverDrive is soo much better! unexpectedly so…! o_o I’ll be blogging about it in a short while… :3

  4. @Abi: I know about the reverse chronological order of the episodes, but obviously, I wouldn’t have known about that when I first watched this :P it was announced a few weeks after the show has aired.
