Synopsis: Balsa, a spear-wielding warrior, saves a young prince’s life. Invited to the place for her reward, she meets the prince’s mother who pleads her to take Chagum, the prince, with her and protect him from the one who plots against his life, the emperor himself.

I didn’t know what to expect from Seirei no Moribito but I was blown away by the animation and the character designs. The series is produced by Production I.G. and directed by Kamiyama Kenji who also directed Blood: The Last Vampire and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
I think the characters are interesting. Balsa differs from most warrior protagonists. She is neither ditzy but extremely skilled nor dark and mysterious.
The plot is intriguing too. If the emperor finds out his son is in hiding, he’ll send out his minions to look for him. The succeeding episodes will probably be devoted to that. Thus, we can expect to meet new characters, who’ll either become Balsa and Chagum’s friends or their enemies.

I have simply fallen in love with balsa’s character she is the first heroine who feels like a human. Neither is she cold and indifferent nor is she a clingy hopeless heroine. Chagum is also very beautifully drawn as well as shown in the anime.
Seirei no Moribito, Darker than Black and Kaze no Stigma are the 3 must see shows this spring.
From the first scene, Seirei no Moribito already got my full attention, with the beautifully animated sceneries to the unique character designs. Yes, as philixus1988 said, Balsa seems like a very human character and very likable at that.
The story is already very interesting at the get go. ^^ I think this will be one of the more exceptional shows this season.
Just saw the first episode of Seirei no Moribito, and wow~ it has captivated me with just about every aspect of it. The movie-like quality of the details and animation, as well as the music, was simply stunning and breathtaking. Coupled with great characters, an engaging plot, and a possibility of being a great epic, this is indeed one of the best (or it is THE BEST) this season~
Balsa, reminds me of Xena the Warrior Princess… but of course Balsa’s much much better!
(on a side note, Chagum is so cute! >o< *glomps* I actually thought he was a ’she’, in the opening sequence… hehe… glad to see that he’s a guy

I also thought from the opening sequence that Chagum was female (due to the hair perhaps). I was like, “is there yuri in this show?” Yeah, glad to see it’s no yuri.
