Claymore – 01 Claymore~Big Sword
Synopsis: A young boy named Raki, whose parents were killed by a Yoma, meets Clare, a Claymore.
Claymore, in my opinion, is one of the promising shows this spring. It’s about women who wield huge claymores. They fight man-eating, demon-like beings called Yoma. One thing about the Claymores, however, is that they aren’t fully human. They are part Yoma. The Yoma, on the other hand, have the ability to change their apperances to look human, they can absorb the memories of their victims, thus they can hide among humans, unnoticed. A Claymore can detect a Yoma even in human form.
I guess the series will follow one of the Claymores named Claire. She seems initially cold but I guess we will soon see a change in her because of Raki. Claire looks cool too. In the opening sequence, there’s also another Claymore with long wavy hair. I wonder who she is. She looks interesting.
The animation looks okay though the colors seem a bit dull but I guess it fits well with its medieval setting. It reminds me somehow of Record of Lodoss War minus the magic elements.

I find Claire very intriguing. Like you, I thought that she would be the stereotypical stoic, emotionless, demon-slaying lead. Yet, at the end of this episode, she showed a bit of compassion by taking Raki with her on her journey.
