Synopsis: Hei, as Li Shengshun, investigates Tahara, the sole survivor of the first expedition to Hell’s Gate. Meanwhile, something strange is happening with Mai, Tahara’s daughter.

Finally, a Darker than Black update. I have to admit the series is at the bottom of the list of spring anime I am currently following. This episode, however, isn’t as bad as the first two.

The episode starts with a scene of Hell’s Gate. I wonder how Hell’s Gate started and what happened inside it, corpses are strewn everywhere, even atop signposts.

New foreigners also appear in this episode. One of them is a Contractor who seems to be able to cut things without touching them. His contract is to make dog-ears in book pages.

Also, the police have a Doll in their side. Just as Yin can monitor things through water, Hoshimi seems to monitor things through electricity.

As for Mai, she has pyromaniac tendencies but is unaware of her power. She and her father aren’t in good standing. The significance of the flower that Mai’s father took from Hell’s Gate is still unknown. Tahara at some point in the past was connected with the foreigners.

Anwyay, Li Shengshun helps Mai but I wonder if it’s all an act. His organization’s motives are still unclear.
