Synopsis: Mai is kidnapped and the truth regarding the flower is revealed.

Mai turns out to be a Moratorium. Unlike Contractors, Moratoria do not have to fulfill a contract for using their powers. They are, however, unable to control it. Eventually, they become Dolls. When Mai’s father found out about her abilities, he implanted her with a seed from the flower he brought from Hell’s Gate. It subdued her powers but caused her to become a Moratorium.

I wonder what the connection between stars and contractors are. For one, the astronomy department is involved. Known contractors are given star codes and the appearance of a new star signifies the appearance of a new Contractor. I also wonder if Kirihara and her colleagues will play a significant role in the series.

As for Mai, in the end, she became a Contractor. Her contract is humming a song. The organization to which Hei and Yin belong will probably take her under its wing. Perhaps we’ll see her again in the future episodes.
