Synopsis: The JSDF learns about the children and contacts them so they can investigate the “behemoth”. The next pilot is chosen.

The children finally knew the truth about Zearth: it moves by using people’s life forces. Thus, Waku died because Zearth “took” him and not because he fell. The worse part is that there is no turning back. Koemushi explained that even if it were possible, the Earth would be destroyed anyway. Knowing that only death lay ahead of them caused most of the children to panic.

This episode dealt more with Kako’s reactions. He went hysterical upon knowing his fate. It didn’t help when Koemushi visited him and told him things which pushed him farther to the edge. Kako went to see Chizu, whom he likes. Chizu, however, has a relationship with her teacher. Chizu said some things to Kako which pushed him overboard.

Meanwhile, the JSDF learned of the children. They contacted them (except Kako whom they weren’t able to find) so they can investigate about the robot. The children called Koemushi who eventually agreed to the JSDF’s request.

Anyway, I think the animation quality in this episode has dropped. So far, I’d rate it below Seirei no Moribito and Claymore but definitely higher than Darker Than Black. I had high expectations for this anime but I guess spoilers and slow subs somehow dampen my excitement.
