Synopsis: Claire joins a hunt for a Voratious Eater.

It’s back to the present with this episode. Clare disobeys orders by dispatching four Yoma’s on her own. It was thought that one of them was a Voracious Eater so the organization sent three other Claymores. It turns out they were just average Yomas. According to the other Claymores, if it had been an actual Voracious Eater, Clare’s head would have been the one to fall.

The Voracious Eater in episodes three to four wasn’t actually a Voracious Eater. It was just a Yoma that has grown strong living for too long. Voracious Eaters were actually Awakened Beings. Somehow, Clare was hoping she could fight Voracious Eaters. She is looking for one Voracious Eater in particular, Priscilla, so she can avenge Teresa’s death. The organization dissuades her from it. The organization only takes action on Awakened Beings when a request is made. If it were Priscilla, the organization would use its entire force.

Clare’s contact decided to add her to a team that hunts Awakened Beings. So we meet three new Claymore’s: Miria, the current #6 and the team’s leader; Deneve, who ranks #22; and Helen who ranks #15. Clare, as it turns out, is the weakest among the Claymores, ranking #47.

Miria asks Clare to spar with her so she can know Clare’s abilities. Though Clare is ranked the lowest, Miria’s impression when she first met Clare was that she was the strongest. Clare, however, lost to Miria and passed out. Poor Clare.

The four then proceeded to hunt the Awakened Being whom they met later. It wasn’t the average Awakened Being and Miria was worried that the team the organization sent is no match for the one they are facing. Also, to their surprise, it was a male Awakened Being. Claymores, are female, afterall and Awakened Beings are Claymores who have surpassed their limits.

Anyway, this was a good episode with lots of revelations. The background music is also interesting in this one.
