Ayano has never looked this good (so is Ren) (sue Gonzo)
Meet two of our young flame wielders from the Kannagi Clan of Kaze no Stigma. Ayano looking cooler than usual and not in her hot-tempered mode, with Ren looking more mature for his age and not in his usual cutesy look. That, and the change of costumes in this pic are more than enough to think of this as an “Alternative Universe”. Ayano, especially, looks as if she’s an Amazon who came from some oriental action movie, whose costume is somewhere in the line of Yuna of FFX’s. Ren on the other hand, seems to have been ‘possessed’ by Kazuma’s ’spirit’ (they emit the same coolness / manliness ‘vibes’ in this pic)
Now if only Kaze no Stigma was animated by _INSERT_OTHER_STUDIO_HERE_, then perhaps there’s more chance to see something like this translated into its animation counterpart. Sadly, that’s not the case, so just feast your eyes on this image :p
(This was taken from the February 2007 issue of Dragon Magazine, whose scanner is unknown >< Nevertheless, I spent quite some time putting the two-page spread together, so please ask permission from us first before using them :) )

to think that the article mentions, “the safest place in Japan is inside the Kannagi residence…”, looks like it’s not safe if it’s graced with our presence :p

@tj han: LOL… yeah, that’d be, such a nightmare x___X I know it could be worse, but I still can’t help but think “Please do more justice to KnS…! please… >_< " and then think of "what ifs"... what if KyoAni was the one who worked on this instead, or JCStaff, etc... >_<
I love that outfit Ayano is wearing. It’s really interesting and different. I agree. I also wish the anime drawings were as good as the ones in the pictures you showed above – especially the fashion side
. The three of them have been wearing the same outfits for the past 8 episodes or so. They must save a lot on laundry money 
. And Ren, is he also blonde in the manga because he looks platinum in these pictures, which actually makes him look better.
Thanks for the alternate universe info. Both Ren and Ayano looks cool.
Wonder what effect Kazuma’s spirit gives Ren besides those “vibes” you mentioned.

This Ayano looks better than the anime version :/ But then again, this is from the manga, right? ^^
@PreSage: LOL… the illustrator actually got creative only in these magazine article illustrations, coz almost all the ones in the novel feature the characters in their usual clothing
Ren is blonde in the novel… so his hair color here isn’t his ‘original’

Ren won’t be badass like Kazuma, but becomes dependable in his own way.
After all, they’re still brothers anyway.
And kazuma was a ‘wuss’ in his younger days.
Of course, if you all knew what he went through, not only during childhood, but post exile and the Lapis incident, you’d come to understand how Kazuma ‘evolved’.
HEhehee, i love the first pic ayano looks so cool, for once the illustrator didn’t go lazy on ayano like he allways tend to do, i said this because i have seen some other illustrations of him from the novel and the magazine(dragon age), and it seem to me that he dosen’t like ayano that muchT_T cause he allways and i said most of the time he just draw her in her school uniform and the details lack compare to other females characters in KNS the most i have seen ayano with other outfis are 3-4, most of them from the magazine though, but even in the magazine the school uniform rules ;_;, the manga ka on the other hand seems to like her character a lot cause i just saw the cover of the latest dragon ace magazine and ayano is the poster girl lol, it’s funny because he draws her with alot of sex apeal MMMMN like in between sexines and inocence, Uhhhh -_- for some reazon i feel weard to said it @_@.
