Deep Frying Kaze no Stigma 09

I know I’ve been naughty, but I’ve already changed~ (I was even naughtier in the novel~ <3)
Episode 9 covered / merged the first two chapters of Kaze no Stigma volume 3 (93 pages), so you’d expect they took out a lot of stuff. they did omit much of the conversation and altered some things, but surprisingly, it didn’t really affect the episode much so I’ll just skip deep frying :p Nevertheless, I’ll still put them up here, just to add more fun :p
(First off, I made a little booboo with my ‘summary’, and I typed in Class 2-A for Ren’s class x__X It’s supposed to be Class 6-2… Ren is already in Grade 6! And he’s graduating by the end of volume 3, so I just thought I had to correct that x__X) oh, and I wonder if anyone noticed that I already added some details into the summary when it’s not mentioned in the episode… o__o in any case, I just thought I’d add some details included in the novel which can’t really be shown in the anime (like Ren’s ‘class’, as well as some explanation about Ren’s ‘love’ being different from Kanon’s ‘love’)
And on with the deep frying…
On the After-Class Scene

Tetsuya KO’d by Kanon (scaring Ren as well)
The after-class scene with Ren being “torn apart” between Kanon and Tetsuya was much more ‘grand’ and ‘spectacular’ in the novel, since the students are actually making much commotion about it, as though they’re watching some wrestling match or something ^^;;; They are taking sides, and making predictions as to who will win, where most of the students believe that Kanon will once again win since she has always been the ‘winner’ with this match against Tetsuya. And well, the students’ eyes are all on Kanon and Tetsuya, almost completely ignoring Ren who’s in the middle of the fight ^^;;
The exchange of remarks between Kanon and Tetsuya was much more brash as well, with Kanon telling Tetsuya that he’s a “homo”, making him let go of Ren’s hand because he’ll infect him with his ‘disease’ (being a homo ^^;; ). It’s cheesier as well, with Tetsuya saying, “Don’t look down on me! The strong bond of friendship between me and Ren will not be ruined with an attack like this!” -> there was more “exchange of blows / attacks” as well. But, I think we can see just why this was cut off… I’m not really interested with their ‘fight scene’ either ^^;;;;
On Ren’s “Encounter Under the Moonlight”

Ren x Ayumi
The novel shows much more of makes Ren’s ‘feelings’ when he saw Ayumi… his “heart throbbing”, specifically, was explicitly shown, as his heart goes “dokun dokun” when he caught sight of her. Before this encounter with Ayumi, the novel first narrated about how Ren hasn’t experienced falling in love yet, and for the first time in his life he became ‘in love’ / infatuated with someone, in the person of Ayumi.
The anime changed some scenes in this part, which should’ve made the audience see some more Ren x Ayumi moments, like this scene where Ayumi was trying to keep up with Ren’s speed in swinging and ends up not being able to control it because she’s only a beginner. Ren actually saw how dangerous it was turning out to be, and immediately covers Ayumi to protect her when she stumbles from her swing. And, they already introduced themselves even before playing the swing, but in order to cut the scenes, the anime had to change this and ‘merge’ the ‘introduction’ and the ‘swing’ scene.
Now after the attack of the Tsuwabukis with Ren managing to save Ayumi from these people, it’s mentioned in the novel that Ayumi’s reply when Ren asked her if she was surprised to find out that he’s a Kannagi is “yes, I was surprised”, then expresses being in awe of the beauty of Ren’s golden flame of purification. In the anime, you’re not quite sure if she was surprised or not, based from her answer… but oh well, that’s a pretty minor detail ^^;;
On Soushu and Ayano’s conversation (and some more info on Tsuwabuki)

Ayano’s fangs wrath
Much of this scene was cut out in the anime as well (we can already see they cut out some parts with Ayano telling her father “I’ve already told you before” (that it’s impossible for her to contact Kazuma) when there’s actually no previous mention of it within that scene).
First of all, when Ayano went inside the room where Soushu is, she mentioned about how her aunt Miyuki (Ren and Kazuma’s mother) is worried about Ren, but finds it strange that when Kazuma left their house, she wasn’t the least bit affected by it. This shows how Ayano doesn’t seem to know how Kazuma’s mother disowned him, and was actually the one who drove him off and treated him coldly. Soushu just let out an excuse regarding this, telling Ayano that the reason why Miyuki is really worried about Ren (in contrast with Kazuma) is because he’s still quite young…
And then, much about the sacrificial ritual has already been mentioned in the novel at this point, with Ayano expressing her disgust over this ceremony they perform, to think that the Tsuwabukis even take pride in doing this hideous act. It’s also mentioned that the reason why the Tsuwabuki are so influential in Japan is because have the power to pacify Mt.Fuji, which will certainly cause much problems in the country’s politics and economy when it erupts. This clan has been doing this ritual for 300 years already, and is still continuing to do so…
Soushu first asks Ayano if she called up Kazuma before informing her about leaving the search for Ren in the hands of the Police Special Investigation Unit. And after Ayano explains what Kazuma did earlier after work, Soushu decides to change the topic and informs her about entrusting the search to Kirika. Ayano reacts in surprise (showing some sort of disapproval), “…[entrusted it] to that woman?”. Noticing how Ayano is affected by this, he replies, “You disapprove of Kirika Tachibana? An independent woman like her makes a good impression on me…” Ayano can’t really disagree since she knows how capable Kirika is, but still feels bitter about it as reflected in how he told Soushu, “…well… I think she’s admirable…” And the novel narrates about how Ayano and Kirika’s first encounter wasn’t exactly good, considering that she first saw her with Kazuma in that love hotel town, and for reasons she doesn’t know about, she feels this hatred for Kirika… and also doesn’t know just why is it that she felt irritated when she looked at her like that while she and Kazuma were walking away :p (The novel actually highlights the ‘for some reason unknown to Ayano…’
On Ayano and Kazuma (after work)

Kazuma and Ayano’s ‘exchange of arguments’
There was just a little dialogue omitted in the anime about Kazuma and Ayano’s exchange of remarks which eventually led him to agreeing to treat Ayano to a meal. When Ayano told him that there’s nothing with treating her to a meal since the money he has is “easy money” anyway, he actually gives this reply that his work is actually like an ‘insurance’, wherein there’s no need for him to do something unless an enemy she can’t defeat comes out. Ayano replies back that if it’s insurance he’s talking about, then there should be times when the insurance broker (or the insurance company) should pay back the money given him (like in this case when his ‘service’ wasn’t needed). Kazuma explains that the insurance company will go bankrupt if it pays back each and every time, to which Ayano says that it’s alright in his case since he gains much profit anyways. And finally, Kazuma agrees her to treat her :p
And… about Ayano’s comment about having Kazuma wear a necktie… it seemed pretty random in the anime. But actually, the reason why Ayano said that is because of the fact that they’re going to a French restaurant, most of which imposes this dress code of wearing a formal attire (with a ‘tie’ in the case of guys). Ayano’s outfit is acceptable since it’s an ‘almighty item’ (from what I know, its thread is specially woven to allow Ayano to summon her Enraiha with it – fireproof material
), Kazuma’s outfit on the other hand, is… not quite acceptable :p but they were still allowed to enter despite his outfit.
On Kazuma ‘disciplining’ Tiana

’Image Transfer’
It was shown that when Tiana came out as the ball of light in front of Kazuma, she still ‘attacked’ him and kept flying back and forth, doing her mischievous deeds again… so he ran out of patience and grabbed the pixie like he did in episode 9 ^^;; It was also mentioned that “Ayano’s Misfortune” happened the previous year, but the memory of that troublesome night was still fresh in Kazuma’s mind. So, all the while he was talking to Tiana he isn’t in the mood (and it can actually be seen in how his conversation went in the anime), and actually decided to wring her to death if she tells him “I ran into you [by chance] so I just wanted to greet you~ <3" ^^;;;; But well, much to Kazuma’s dismay, the pixie came to him for a favor, but nevertheless felt that she was such a bother…
When Tiana told Kazuma, "I have a favor to ask, Contractor-sama~ <3", he scorned at how she could still go on attacking (as her ‘greeting’) the person she’s going to ask this favor from. Tiana struggles to find an excuse for her mischievousness, explaining that she did it to make her ‘entrance’ leave an impression on him, for some ‘stage direction’ :p Kazuma sarcastically laughs at this, then squishes her as he didn’t buy her ‘explanation’, and even seriously tells her "and well, you just have to die", making the pixie beg for her life ^^;;;
And… I wonder if anyone found it strange that Kazuma was able to have a car on their way to the Tsuwabukis…? Nevertheless I brushed off that idea, thinking that he probably rent it or something. In the novel however, they didn’t really ride the car all the way to the mansion, they first rode the train where Tiana shows much of her mischievousness ^^;;;
Kazuma said they will have a hard time looking for the mansion of the Tsuwabukis if they simply travel by wind, so they rode a train instead. Now Tiana was bored, and decided to ‘play’ a little, as she opens the doors while the train is moving, makes the window disappear when a kid leans forward to look outside, appears as a poltergeist in the driver’s seat, and turns the train sideways. Kazuma finally run out of patience, and seals her in a cage of wind
As the train finally arrives at their destination, Kazuma goes to leave Tiana inside the train, and was able to catch up on Kazuma after 10 minutes ^^;;;
On Kureha

Bewitching Kureha
An advantage of the novel is its capability to fully describe people’s appearance, thoughts, and actions, since one would simply rely on their imagination to envision the characters and their interactions. And in Kureha’s case, she was given full description as well… like how she is such a beautiful woman, yet bewitching (as though she’s not human). She’s the type of woman who’s ‘pleasing to look at’, yet someone whom you wouldn’t want to get close to. Kazuma even blurts out, “Scary woman”, before he finally gets sucked into the building with her gravitational power.
Other thoughts (Epilogue? :p)
So there… not much critical stuff right? Just some tiny little tidbits that are, somewhat passable
I like how this episode was handled in comparison to the novel, seeing how it shifts scenes from Ren x Ayumi to Kazuma x Ayano and Kazuma x Tiana from time to time… I couldn’t really picture these scenes happening simultaneously in the novel, because Ren and Ayumi’s event was shown first, before showing the flashback with Ayano and Kazuma, and the events with Tiana… o__o
Anyways, I’m looking forward to the next episode!
(and have to read the novel too…) I wonder if this cute scene with Ren and Ayumi will come out next week… here goes, some spoiler alert (although not really spoilerish ^^)

Thanks for deep frying. I’m already way over budget with regards to Japanese book buying and can’t afford the Stigma novels…
After the last post, I didn’t see this one coming
Looks like nothing too drastic happened though. I’m looking forward to that pic as well. For some reason I’ve been thinking (before the episode aired) that Ayumi is actually Lapis (they look a bit similar. Only a bit :p) But after watching the ep 9 raw the other day that theory obviously went out the window.
Yeah you really could think there was a connection. But I guess maybe it’s just to create a similarity between the brothers and not an actual connection between the two. Doesn’t look like any major changes were made which is nice.
Thanks for another deep frying. These really are fun to read and find out what’s going on.
so… the love story begins?? =P
You won’t reach the Rin/Lapis arc until much later. The Confession Under The Moonlight arc (aka Ren’s arc) is pretty engrossing on its own, so let’s try to enjoy it instead of thinking ahead.
I’m sure they’ll be able to fit all 6 volumes of the main novels + some of ignition inside this season, what I hope is that they don’t add some cheesy conclusion to close the Anime season of KnS.
Can’t wait to get my hands on chapter 1 of the manga of KnS…
HEHEHE, i hope to that they would be able to fit the entire 6 volumes too, some development for ren is always nice though, ayano is getting good at counter kazumas remarks and i can see that in the novels she is starting to control her temper a little be more, darn poor ren the highest you go the hardest you fall. tiana is definely something here we thought that kazuma was being mean for nothing lol, As for the manga i can wait for the scanlation to come out if they come and i do hope so , since the manga is lots of fun, speaking of the manga the manga ka must like ayano quite alot, since his portrait of ayano is more fatefull to the novels than the anime lol, by the way i posted this on usagijen alternative universe of ayano, but i guess i will posted it in here to, it looks like ayano is the poster girl for the magazine dragon ace for this month lol, as well as some updates on the oficial website of dragon age mag, it looks like the next short story comes out on the 20th of this month and some info onte rpg novels too lol.

just press on the KnS logo, for a bigger version of ayano mag pic.

i have a question usagijen did the novels ever mention ayano’s mother, i know they mention kazuma’s alot and she even have a entry description on the jap wikipedia but nothing on ayano’s mother or maybe is just that google traslations are just that bad lol.
@Eleutheria: I’ve spending too much on anime/manga/games ever since I got a credit card… have to cut down on my expenses =___=” (but I can’t help it…! x__x)
@lightbringer: nothing much really happened, so I actually hesitated to do this or not, but in the end I still did
@FlareKnight: yup, nice to see they handled this episode well ^^
@tactics: it has already began
@Silverwolf X: hehe… well, I do enjoy seeing Ren, but I still can’t help think of when more of Kazuma x Ayano will come out :p
Let’s all hope they won’t do that kind of ending with KnS >< ''' I think there'll be no problem to leave things as open as they are in volume 6
I want to get hold of the KnS tankoubon...!!! rawr :p nevertheless, I was able to read the chinese scanlations of chapters 1-2, and hopefully I'll be able to feature them in the site soon (hopefully next week...?
)
@tigerlily: even in the anime we can already see that she's controlling her temper... hehe... the only moment I see her lash out her anger was when Soushu mentioned about Ren being labeled as a 'mugger' for stealing a valuable possession of the Tsuwabukis :3
the manga is indeed LOTS of fun~ it has the fun stuff omitted in the novels...!! >o< (too bad they skipped out on the Fuuga arc and decided to go to the Misao arc already >< ) and Ayano is hawter in the manga...! you also get to see her practicing wearing her hakama ;) ack...! I shouldn't be mentioning that till I post my entry on the KnS manga... oh well :p
now that you mention it, I don't think I can remember much being mentioned about Ayano's mother... o__o I'm pretty sure she has passed away already, but I don't think the novel mentioned about Ayano yearning for her mother or anything like that... hmmm
MMMM!!! that sounds intriguing, if i have to spaculate i will say that situation may become a future plot device, if the novels haven’t mentioned it jet, it will be interesting to see a really Emo ayano lol, or at least a reverse situation, with a ”whatever” saying ayano @_@, maybe i’m just crazy, but i would like her to deal with other types of emotional situation in which kazuma is not the direct responsable, thinking about it i might be asking for to much lol.
@tigerlily: there are instances in the novel where we get to see Ayano going emo on other situations, like in the case with Misao where she’s contemplating on what happened to her. It’ll be great to see Ayano mature more and be sensitive / ‘emo’ on other things :3
Yay! More Tiana
