2007 Summer Anime Menu

The Scrumptious Anime Chefs bring to you an almost complete list of this summer season’s anime. With a rather large disparity in our tastes, we’ve included “Chef Chaff” in each of our preview, to give you an idea of what we think of the title.

Chaff means good-natured joking or banter. All puns are intended :p Animes are chronologically arranged according to air date.

Don’t forget to tell us what YOU will be watching. Bon appétit.

Tetsuko no Tabi
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Group TAC
Air date: 06/24/2007
Synopsis: A visual travelogue of the mangaka in her travels around Japan with a densha otaku (train addict).
Chef Chaff
absolute0: What’s the big deal with densha otakus anyway?
BeLe: Fugly lead but I sense some comedy in it. Wouldn’t mind for some mindless fun. XD
Seleria: Admittedly, the main character is quite…ugly. However, it has a slice-of-life feel to it and I am one slife-of-life junkie. I’ll take a whiff at it.
usagijen: Let’s see if the anime will make me watch this despite the ugly lead. The CGs look nice though.

Nanatsuiro Drops
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Studio Barcelona
Air date: 07/02/2007
Synopsis: Masaharu Tsuwabuki turns into a sheep plushie after drinking a mysterious juice one day. His only hope of “de-sheeping” is to collect the 7 star fragments scattered through town with the help of Sumomo Akihime, without ever revealing his true identity.
Chef Chaff
absolute0: Moe. Not interested.
BeLe: Reminds me of Card Captor Sakura and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha.
Seleria: Magical girl with a cute plush-like avatar… so, oddly familiar.
usagijen: Honestly speaking, the premise is lame, but something I find irresistible, especially with the cute sheep plushie and the potential fun and romance elements.

Buzzer Beater
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: TMS Entertainment
Air date: 07/03/2007
Synopsis: Hideyoshi, a basketball hustler from the streets of New York, gets drafted into an all-human team. Their mission—to take back the basketball championship from the aliens that have dominated the game.
Chef Chaff
absolute0: Didn’t they animate this before? And besides, I am not a fan of basketball.
Seleria: Woo… Basketball anime from the famed Takehiko Inoue (Slam Dunk)! But, why the same studio for the remake?
usagijen: I didn’t quite like the original series… I felt the character development was majorly lacking. Though I can’t help but wonder what changes they made in this remake.

Doujin Work
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: REMIC
Air date: 07/03/2007
Synopsis: Najima gets sucked into the chaotic world of doujinshi by her classmate, Tsuyuri. She crosses paths with several wacky characters on her way to her doujinshi debut.
Chef Chaff
Seleria: I dunno… 3 lolis and a full-grown man…
usagijen: Not quite enthusiastic with this one… probably because of my lack of interest in the doujin premise.

Kenko Zenrakei Suieibu Umisho
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Artland
Air date: 07/03/2007
Synopsis: Kaname Okimura unwittingly joins Umisho’s swim club, filled with eccentric characters and weirdos. To top it off, a transferee with a penchant for nude swimming dives in on the fun. How will he ever learn to swim?
Chef Chaff
BeLe: Guys in bikinis… *shivers*
Seleria: Prepare to drown in fanservice! If this resembles School Rumble, it may just win me over.
usagijen: Good riddance! I am so not prepared to drown in fanservice and scar my whole life by witnessing horrid men in their bikinis with this one (I’ve already been scarred by glancing through the manga D:)

School Days
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: TNK
Air date: 07/03/2007
Synopsis: The story is about a love triangle between the male protagonist Makoto, and the two heroines Kotonoha and Sekai. Makoto develops a love interest in Kotonoha, a girl in the same year but different class. Although they both take the same train to school, she is unaware of his existence. His classmate, Sekai, manages to put the two together despite holding strong feelings towards Makoto. -ANN
Chef Chaff
absolute0: The character design looks like that of Sentimental Graffiti. Not interested though.
BeLe: YAHTA!!! (Yet Another H-game Turned Anime)
Seleria: The premise has school romance, angst potential, and a little love triangle going on. Sounds good to me.
usagijen: The art looks nice, but the premise is so like KimiNozo (with a pathetic male lead) that I so hate.

ZOMBIE-LOAN
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: XEBEC M2
Air date: 07/03/2007
Synopsis: Kita Michiru possesses “Shinigami” eyes that allow her to see a person’s lifeline. As death draws nearer, the line becomes darker. When she sees her two classmates having pitch black rings, they let her in on their little secret.
Chef Chaff
absolute0: Yet another shounen anime. It wouldn’t hurt to watch or pass on it. I don’t like the character design of the girl with glasses. But if I were to choose between this and Mushi-uta, I’d go for this.
Seleria: Sound off the alarms! Bishie alert! This is based on a Peach-pit manga, also the creators of Rozen Maiden and DearS.
usagijen: I’m a bit biased on this one, but bishies + goth = WIN for me :p And I like how the series blends in some humor amidst the rather serious theme :3

CODE-E
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Studio DEEN
Air date: 07/03/2007
Synopsis: The literally electrifying Chinami Ebihara manages to short-circuit several electronic devices on her first day of school. This sparks Kotaro’s interest on her and her mysterious power.
Chef Chaff
absolute0: I don’t like the character design of the girl with glasses. The Japanese seem to have fetishes about girls with glasses.
Seleria: Not too keen with the character designs.
usagijen: Not quite interested with the plot and the characters, and I haven’t seen any other material to make me change my impression of it.

Mushi-uta
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Beat Frog
Air date: 07/05/2007
Synopsis: In this day and age where mushi who feeds on people’s dreams exist, two souls cross paths with an attraction so strong, yet unexplainable. Little do they know that their relationship is much more complicated than what it seems.
Chef Chaff
absolute0: Looks like another shounen anime. Chances of watching this are close to nil.
Seleria: I love the art and the manga looks to have an interesting mix of romance, action, and mysterious supernatural powers. Of course, I’ll watch mostly for the rabu rabu.
usagijen:I can already sense the depth of this series just by speed-reading through the novel. I love the tension that’s built as the story goes, and the other aspects adding complexity to Shiika and Daisuke’s relationship.

Sky Girls
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Konami
Air date: 07/05/2007
Synopsis: In the near future, Earth is at war with aliens called Worms. The war leaves the population of Earth decimated, with young men the main casualties. The Worms were beaten back but their re-emergence heralds the creation of a mecha unit called the Sonic Divers, piloted by 3 young girls to counter this threat. -ANN
Chef Chaff
absolute0: Lolis in the sky. No thanks.
BeLe: Not interested. Too tired of watching lolis piloting mechas. That scenario is too overused >__< Reminds me of Idol Master Xenoglassia.
Seleria: It’s a bird! No, it’s a plane! No, it’s lolis in skin-tight battle suits, that do little to protect them, piloting mechas because adults are unable to save world from the horde of aliens out to conquer it!
usagijen: I’ve had bad experiences with animes having females in the skies (remembers Stratos4), so I think I’ll stay away from this one.

Happy Happy Clover
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Group TAC
Air date: 07/06/2007
Synopsis: An ultra genki story of our equally genki female bunny protagonist, Chima, and her other happy tree friends.
Chef Chaff
absolute0: What the…?
BeLe: o__O
Seleria: One usagijen is MORE THAN ENOUGH!!!
usagijen: Despite the fact that I feel flattered for having been featured (or rather ’starred’) in an anime, I’m afraid I’ll stay away from watching me and my own kind and go for something else :p

Potemayo
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: J.C. Staff
Air date: 07/07/2007
Synopsis: The fate of our young protagonist forever changes as a mysterious being enters his life from the unknown depths of his refrigerator. POTEto MAYOneezu (potato mayonnaise) never looked this cute.
Chef Chaff
absolute0: Sweet. I fear tooth decay.
Seleria: No one can stop me from watching this. Potemayo is LOVE!!! Higly glompable! <3
usagijen: Potemayo!!! >o< Read the manga and came to love all the characters and their interactions. Potemayo especially is really adorable, who can be said to be a mix of Sugar and Mirumo in terms of personality :)

Higurashi no Naku Koroni Kai
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Studio DEEN
Air date: 07/07/2007
Synopsis: The village of Hinamizawa has a population of 2000. Here, the sounds of cicadas can be heard in the late evening. Though at a first glance the village seems normal, however, here is where lies a horrible secret which the villagers try to keep secret from newcomers. The curse of Oyashiro-sama. Unusual murders have been occuring ever since the dam construction plan. Is it a coincidence or part of a plot taken place. -ANN
Chef Chaff
BeLe: I hope they don’t butcher this one up like the previous season. Good to see the killer lolis back though.
Seleria: Murder in loli town anyone?
usagijen: As much as I find it interesting, I’m afraid to touch this series because of the freakiness I’ve been hearing about it o__o

Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: SHAFT
Air date: 07/07/2007
Synopsis: A teacher, filled with despair, sets out to take his life when a student, filled with hope, comes to save him. Follow the bittersweet story of a depressed teacher with suicidal tendencies and his equally troubled students and how they change each other.
Chef Chaff
absolute0: About a guy who attempts suicide but is saved by a girl. Hmm… might try to see how it goes.
Seleria: Just the premise is starting to tug my heartstrings. I took a peek at the manga and it looks to be a promising story of turning despair to hope with some comedy in between.
usagijen: The manga didn’t really catch my interest enough… but I’ll be checking out the anime and see how it goes.

Zero no Tsukaima: Futatsuki no Kishi
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia, Scrumptious News
Studio: J.C. Staff
Air date: 07/08/2007
Synopsis: Louise is known as “Zero Louise” because of her near nil success in casting magic. In the first season, she managed to summon Saito, a human who is able to control any weapon, as her familiar. Now, she is back with her sisters in another “jewel-bashing” round of Zero no Tsukaima.
Chef Chaff
absolute0: Haven’t seen the first season and besides it’s moe.
BeLe: This has been on my watchlist for so long!
Seleria: This is my guilty pleasure. I am praying for more Siesta x Saito and secretly praying for more nut-crushing action from Louise!
usagijen: Haven’t seen the first season either, so I’m gonna skip this first.

Moetan
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Actus
Air date: 07/08/2007
Synopsis: English-teaching guide turned book and now turned anime where a magical girl, Ink-chan, teaches English through the use of manga/anime pop culture.
Chef Chaff
absolute0: Moe. Not interested.
Seleria: Loli magical girls with more fanservice potential wanting to teach English lessons? With the loli angle aside, I think it could be a fun show. The secret to success may lie in what anime/manga they will be referencing from.
usagijen: The panty-showing costume already screams moe fanservice, but I might just take a peek and see how this ‘engrish lesson’ from ink-chan will go, as it might prove to be an interesting watch.

Mononoke
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Toei Animation
Air date: 07/12/2007
Synopsis: The mysterious medicine seller in the 3rd arc of Ayakashi “Bakeneko” takes the lead role in this spin-off series, following his encounters with monsters from famous Japanese folkore as he uncovers its roots.
Chef Chaff
absolute0: A spinoff from Ayakashi~ Japanese Classic Horror (I still have to watch it though). This one is about a medicine seller who kills monsters. Interesting, I should say. The story contains traditional Japanese elements. The art looks traditional too.
Seleria: Somehow, it reminds me of xxxHolic. I’ll be keeping an eye out on this one.
usagijen: These kinds of stories draws me for some reason, but not really the kind I’ll prioritize watching.

Shigurui
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Madhouse Animation
Air date: 07/19/2007
Synopsis: A tale culminating in the ultimate showdown between two students of Iwamoto Kogan, Japan’s greatest swordsman, in a battle to the death.
Chef Chaff
absolute0: The usual traditional ninja stuff.
BeLe: If it follows the manga, I think it will be quite interesting. Medieval Japan has always stirred up my interest.
Seleria: I am so torn with this one. Madhouse is doing it, but the material is so depressing. If the fighting scenes are worth the watch, I may just need to suck it up and watch it.
usagijen: Too much gore and violence for my taste, and seeing that the author of the manga doesn’t hold back in showing adult themes makes me all the more a scared little rabbit D:

Baccano!
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Brain-Base
Air date: 07/26/2007
Synopsis: Baccano is Italian for noise, but Narita translates it as “stupid commotion.” Each of the stories in the series involves several unrelated plots intersecting and crossing each other as events spiral farther and farther out of control. Immortal alchemists, mafia operated speakeasies, and many other elements of pulp fiction mashed together for a world straight out of the movies. -ANN
Chef Chaff
absolute0: Based on a light novel that won gold in the 9th Dengeki Novel Prize, this should be interesting. “Baccano” is Italian for noise. From what I understand, this is about mafia and other pulp fiction stuff. Reminds me of Cowboy Bebop for some reasons.
BeLe: This one I’ll most likely put in my watch list. It follows a group of alchemists that discovered some kind of drink to gain eternal life. Not familiar with the studio, but the PV looked good.
Seleria: This has a seasoned cast and production staff. A definite standout for the season.
usagijen: I also thought about it having this Cowboy Bebop feel in it, plus a little of Heat Guy J as well (probably the setting). But mafias and such kind of setting doesn’t work well with me, but I’ll see if Baccano will change all that :3

Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho: Tou 2nd Act
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: AIC Spirits and BeSTACK
Air date: 07/27/2007
Synopsis: In the night of Tokyo, mysterious deaths involving the ‘Reborn Dead’ occur. Mysterious transfer student, Tatsuma Hiyuu, and delinquent student, Kyouichi Houraiji, fight these undead every night. They, along with the rest of their group, soon realize that a greater threat, that involves even more powerful demons, is near. – ANN
Chef Chaff
absolute0: Haven’t seen the first season. I think the plot is cliche.
BeLe: There’s a first season? o_O
Seleria: Didn’t see the first. So, next please…
usagijen: Haven’t seen the first one either, so skip.

Armored Trooper Votoms: Pailsen Files
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Sunrise
Air date: 07/2007
Synopsis: Chirico Cuvie, a former Armored Trooper, is caught in a web of intergalactic conspiracy involving the top secret Pailsen Files.
Chef Chaff
absolute0:
BeLe: I don’t know if this is a remake of the 1980s anime. Most probably a spin off or something, but anything with mecha in it looks good to me.
Seleria: I haven’t seen the original series or any of the OVAs and mecha is not my cup of tea, but I read some plot summaries and the story blew me away. I think I’ll take a look at this new spin off.
usagijen: I first thought of turning my back on this one after seeing the old school designs, but having read the plot and story was enough catch my interest and intrigue me into watching it.

Miyori no Mori
Links: Website, ANN Encyclopedia
Studio: Fuji TV and Nippon Animation
Air date: 08/25/2007
Synopsis: The series follows Miyori, a girl who daydreams of escaping her tough everyday life. When Miyori enters the woods, she experiences many mysterious phenomena, including the discovery that the woods are also home to spirits and ghosts. -ANN
Chef Chaff
absolute0: This looks interesting. The forest beings remind me of Mononoke Hime.
Seleria: Yuu Aoi, Hagu of Honey & Clover live adaption, will voice Miyori. The director is Nizo Yamamoto, who has worked in Grave of the Butterflies, Princess Mononoke, and Castle in the Sky.
usagijen: Sounds like Arjuna and Mononoke Hime, which I’m not too keen about.

  1. Yes! I wasn’t the last one to preview! Reading your comments is pretty interesting. It’s easy to label you as “the one who hates moe”, “the one who likes romance”, “the cute one” and “the one that doesn’t have much to say”. Whether the group of you will foster those labels or keep new ones? That’s something that’ll develop.

Posted by Sana Jisushi | June 24, 2007, 11:56 pm
  2. I’m gonna watch most of them and then deduct from there after the first 4-5 episodes.

    Anyway:

    ZnT season 2: Looks like some key characters appear at last, but those following the novel and expecting the Anime to stay true will be disapointed. From what I’ve researched, the way the characters appear will be vastly different from the novel, so chances of the Saito Vs Army of 70000 event and Tiffania appearing are slim. Not to mention its only 12 episodes, you could hear the collective sighs of alot of fans when that was revealed… -.-;;

Moetan: Seriously, anyone remotely otaku will and MUST watch this. If you like Lucky Star, Moetan will blow you away. Must watch! -.-

Higurashui: Aye, must watch for me. Its very freaky. Very spine chilling freaky how seeming normal characters from the beginning can warp and twist so much… I love it. xD

Mushi-uta: Will give this one a try, a fellow otaku in my circle is trying to brainwash me into getting this, so it has to be good. I guess…

Code-E: Will watch this, the fact that its Anime only original and not based on any novel and/or manga makes it easier to jump into and enjoy from the start. The story is semi-cliche though, but I’ll take this as one of those Anime to casually enjoy.

School Days: I played the game (Its a HGAME by the way). Makoto is notorious for being one of the most idiotic male leads in a hgame (heck, in games in general!) ever. He is an idiot made flesh, heck he is so dumb I seriously find it weird so many girls want to throw themseleves at him. Anyway, the game has cult status among the otakus for having some of the most graphic and chillingly bloody bad endings ever. Those who have played this game will know what I am talking about. The game was also seriously notorious for being unplayable at launch due to serious bugs. Anyway, if any of you like good emotional drama with an idiot male lead, this Anime is for you, and of course, fans of the game.

    Tokyo Majin: well, i watched the 1st season, no turning back now… -.-;;

Nanatsuiro Drops: I’m a sucker for magic girl anime…. T.T

    Happy Happy Clover: Ahahahahahahaha… hahahahaha… hahaha… My niece wants to watch this… 4 year old girl.. don’t ask.. -.-;;

  3. wow. some unknown anime that i do not know of.. well quite willing to try them out.. yet my studies are in my way >.>

  4. I’m a guy who was playing rpgs on my PSX during ‘O’ Levels…

  5. I’m not particularly enthusiastic about the new season. I plan on watching Bokurano and I’m probably going to try out Mononoke, Shigurui and Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei. That’s all. Romance and/or cute female cast make me grit my teeth. (As expected of a female? Ahaha.)

I was very disappointed with the trailer of Doujin Work. A friend had told me there was going to be an anime about doujinshi circles and it captured my interest, but christ, not with such art.

    Posted by iciak | June 25, 2007, 3:35 am
  6. *Baccano, not Bokurano. xD;

    Posted by iciak | June 25, 2007, 3:52 am
  7. Going to try most of the shows for the usual 4 episodes before deciding. The ones that pique my initial interest are:

    Tetsuko no Tabi
    Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei
    Shigurui
    Baccano
    Armored Trouper Votoms and
    Miyori no Mori

  8. Heh, I had to laugh at your commentaries of Happy Happy Clover. ^^;

Anyway, I’m looking forward for Pailsen Files because Ryousuke Takahashi, the guy who directed FLAG and a bunch of other high-quality series will be directing it, and FLAG had to be one of the most realistic war-centred anime ever.

    I’m looking forward to Mononoke the most, though. I’ve seen Bake Neko, the third arc of Ayakashi, and it turned out to be one of the best short stories I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to watch more. ^_^;;

    Posted by psgels | June 25, 2007, 5:12 am
  9. Besides ZNT and Higurashi2, I’ve feel a good vibes on Baccano… hoping it will be good…

    Posted by capture | June 25, 2007, 5:47 am
  10. I’ll probably end up not following this exact list, but I should check out the first episodes of these shows:

Baccano! – Hiroyuki Yoshino! I’m interested in seeing another Brains-Base work too.
Mononoke – The Bakeneko arc from Ayakashi was wonderful.
Mushi-Uta – Beautiful art, intriguing trailers, the main two characters voiced by Kana Hanazawa and Shintarou Asanuma who were already a couple in ZEGAPAIN (which I loved).
Potemayo – Again, Kana Hanazawa as Potemayo, along with a fun trailer. J.C. Staff working on it helps, but I’m afraid it’ll really be hit-or-miss.
Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei – I haven’t seen many series directed by Akiyuki Shinbo, but I liked his work on Negima!? enough to check this out.
Tokyo Majin 2nd season – I had no expectations for the first season but it came off as rather pleasant (and you also get to hear Hiro Shimono as a character that’s the opposite of Oofuri’s Tajima).
Zombie-Loan – A Peach-Pit work always interests me, plus some of the staff from Hitohira will be working on it.

… then perhaps some positive comments on other series will add more anime to this. It would be nice if I could be as nicely surprised as I was during this spring.

  11. Interested in Tetsuko no Tabi, Zero no Tsukaima and Baccano from a quick (very quick) view. But I usually (well, 99% of the time) watch finished series and there are still a lot of shows I’m interested in from previous seasons that are still onging or have just finished. In addition, I also have a tendency to watch older shows so it may be a while before I will catch up to you guys because im waaaaaaaay behind in terms of the shows I watch in respect to the current season … hehehe … enjoy and good luck ^_^ …

  12. Quick add: I though Sky Girls when on air (pun intended) last year?? (•_•) ???

    Posted by Hinode | June 25, 2007, 2:16 pm
  13. @Hinode: The Sky Girls that aired last year was an OVA. ^^

Happy Happy Clover…I am at a loss for words. o_O

  14. @BeLe – Thnx, just realized it a few minutes after posting the comment .. late reaction T_T .. and even made a wierd mistake (when -> should be went) heheh .. *twak* myself …

    Posted by Hinode | June 25, 2007, 3:44 pm
  15. @Sana Jisushi: well, stay tuned and you’ll find that out… and eventually, realize that we won’t just simply fall under those stereotypes you mentioned :p

@SilverWolf X: LOL. and you’ll be watching Happy Happy Clover alongside your niece? :p

@iciak: Guess you’re the type who can live with the gore and violence (like Shigurui) o___o I’m a chicken (a chicken rabbit? LOL)

@leongsh: Tetsuko no Tabi has already aired, and basing from what psgel’s initial review, it seems to be all good :3 I still have to see it for myself before deciding.

@psgels: glad you liked that little entertainment we provided… LOL. We seem to be the only one who actually dared to cover that XDDD

@Katapan: wai~ you’re interested with Potemayo as well! :p I really hope this’ll live up to my expectations from reading the manga

  18. Looks like another summer of cool anime.

  19. Well, it’s the first time I’ve been here. Being a fully hot-blooded, testosterone-filled, moe-obsessed, semi-chauvinistic, vulgar male anime fanatic, you gals are like the antithesis of my very being (come on! bring on the hate!). And I say you gals ROCK!

This is definitely going into my bookmarks.

    For me, I’ll probably watch:
    - Zero no Tsukaima (for her non-loli sistas)

    - Higurashi (for all the goodness in psycho-lolis)

    - School Days (for having played some of the game and wishing all the bitch-slapping, back-stabbing and bloodied love feuds to be animated)

    - Tokyo Majin (for all the manly fights and hot babe action)

    - Moetan (which sad pr*ck of an otaku doesn’t like watching mini lolis sprouting Japlish?)

    - Happy Happy Clover (to retain whatever scraps of innocence I still have inside. Serious, I watch stuff like Kogepan and Dogtato-kun)

  20. @Scrumptious Anime Chefs

Your preview is quite entertaining hehehe. Keep it up =p

Anyway, the new shows this summer 2007 is quite lean–not much to choose from. But I’m sure to be checking these shows:

    * Tetsuko no Tabi –
    * Zero no Tsukaima ~Futatsuki no Kishi~
    * Miyori no Mori

    Posted by hayase | June 26, 2007, 3:16 pm
  21. There’s seems to be a big a mix of series this coming season yet nothing is grabbing my attention really… except Tetsuko no Tabi because I’m a bit of a train otaku myself. XD;

I guess I’ll wait until after the season starts and see what people recommend :) Loved reading your menu though!

  22. First timer here.. Informative yet entertaining menu by the chefs. Looking at it, I’ll probably be catching a few series.. Zombie-loan, Higurashi and Baccano. The rest.. not interested.

  23. Hahah, this is a very comprehensive summer season pick and I must say that I have a look at one of the first few series to come out. For one, Shigurui is WAY WAY WAY too bloody for me (an.

I mean, according to my friend, one scene had one where his guts were dug out or something. Needless to say, I am NOT watching even a bit of it.

  24. wai~ Glad to see you guys liked our menu~ \o/

@miyamiya: LOOL @ your Happy Happy Clover comment… hehe… I guess you’re one of the few adults who are anticipating it :p

@hayase: there are only a few shows in this season that really stands out for me… but I might have to check the other ones to really see

@daelite: I’ve been hearing great things about Tetsuko no Tabi…! but now it’s yet another anime added to my backlog >< @MuCus: that could change the moment you get to see the actual eps :D

@Impz: nice to see you stumble into our blog… hehe :D

I feel the same way as you do with Shigurui… *shudder*

  25. hm..

Umisho’s gone anime. The manga looks wacky. Not interested.

Mushi-uta’s art alone was assured that i will watch at least one episode.

i actually watched the sampler of Sky Girls because of (a) the art and (b) the mecha. (i like the mecha design). the episode was wasted on ’showing off’, and it’s pretty obvious there isn’t much in the way of depth, so there’s little reason for me to watch on. except for the art and the mecha. =)

Sayonara Sensei’s gone anime too. i love the manga’s art, and the plot doesn’t seem to shallow, so i’ll be waiting for this on nana day.

    cheers!

  26. Bakeneko was simply SO awesome … I watched it eight times already, and I’m going to try and blog ANIME once more if the first episode blows me away.

    Oh man, MONONOKE

  27. “Mushi-uta’s art alone HAS assured..”

“the plot doesn’t seem TOO shallow..”

  30. what is the world of anime coming to? most of the anime listed above are either retarded or on drugs…

  31. Hmmm, that’s weird. Last time I checked there was this anime dealing with this vampire, werewolf, and other things like that. It seemed interesting yet I don’t see it here O__o

    Was it somewhere else or am I just hallucinating? I was positive that there was this girl who was a vampire, or was it her brother? I’m not sure X__x;;

Unless it’s Mushi-uta that I’m talking about. Some of the animes are interesting. Mushi-uta seems interesting and the zombie loan, well I’ll just check out that one.

Miyori no Mori really reminds me of Princess Mononoke or My Neighbor Totoro. Higurashi no Naku Koroni Kai, well, I heard that the first season was very…well scary O__o; Especially seeing a spoof of it I still think it’s creepy…yet people say it’s good…

  32. OH, nevermind! XD Found out it was a game *hits head on the keyboard* (Is it possible to delete a comment?)

Well so far I started watching Zombie Loan and it was pretty good so far ^__^ Just waiting for episode 4 to be subbed. Started watching that Mushi-Uta one. I kinda shuddered every time I saw those giant bugs. So I’m not sure if I’ll be watching the show more though I’ll just see one more episode to see if it’s good.

  33. @Tomochii-chan: I was able to watch most of the summer animes and most often I find myself itching for the episode to end. Zombie Loan included. That is not a good sign. I’m just waiting now for Baccano (there a raw but it’s a crappy raw) and VOTOMS.

Good thing there’s still a few animes from the last season to keep me occupied. Big thanks to Claymore and Lucky Star. ^^

  34. Baccano! seems interesting. I only saw the trailer though. I tried looking in Veoh if there were episodes but I couldn’t find any >__>

Guess I have to search elsewhere XD

  35. Some of them looks interesting. And Emilia is pregnant, what means that I´ll have a lot more free time now…

  36. I’m having good vibes about “Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei”. I hope it doesn’t fail me.
