It seems that (novel) Kazuma still hasn't gotten over how Tsuoi Rin died, so he feels irrational hatred towards sacrificial rituals. To him, the Tsuwabuki people, who take pride in their taisai, are probably just trash not worth living. While Kureha's certainly a tragic character, she was also about to sacrifice Ayumi and Mayumi for her own gains, so it's not so strange for novel Kazuma to kill her either. I think I'll stick with anime-Kazuma, who while being pretty much a jerk, is still an attractive and reasonably normal jerk, and not nearly that psychotic. Love reading your deep-frying posts; thanks for them! And I forgot about those inconsistencies. :p Maybe because the ending is so touching...
