The Real Ayano x Kazuma (fight aftermath) moment~ <33

The son who considers his father the “worst father”, and the father who regards his son as a “pathetic son”… one sudden meeting at the Kannagi house was all it took for these two individuals to once again clash and head on for battle. Yes, you heard me right… they fought in the Kannagi residence, not in some onsen where fanservice abounds, together with additional characters and intrigue (Catherine, Kirika) added into the mess.

The animators might have spiced things up a bit with the addition of Yukari, Nanase, Catherine and Kirika into the whole father-and-son commotion, but it certainly brought about drastic changes into the characters of Catherine, Kirika and Soushu. Only Ayano, Ren, and Soushu were the supposedly witnesses of this momentous event, and it shouldn’t have been cut into three rounds (admittedly, looonng battle scenes would’ve made the show boring, but it really takes away much of the impact of this duel).

When Ren and Ayano first saw Kazuma and Genma having this fight, they feared that things might get out of hand. Ayano knows well that even Soushu who is at par with Genma’s abilities is powerless to stop this fight, and thus suggests the “Ren barrier” idea just like in the anime. A few seconds later however, the fear subsides and Ayano and Ren becomes excited as though they’re watching some boxing match on TV. They intently watch the fight, and shouts “He got in!” when Kazuma was finally able to give his father a jab (a sign that Kazuma was having a hard time in the battle, given that he was only able to hit Genma at this point).

Genma retaliates, and sends Kazuma flying towards the other room (causing a hole on the walls). Ren tells his father that he overdid it, but Genma simply ignores this. He demands Kazuma to stand up and continue with the fight, while exclaiming how he won’t fall for his trick twice (since he was already deceived in their first battle). The fight continues… and a few minutes later, Soushu appears and comments on how the situation has already become like that when their fight still hasn’t reached five minutes (remaining calm and composed like he usually is).

Ayano demands her father to stop the fight, considering how dangerous it’s turning into. She was perceptive enough to notice the dangers in their duel, seeing as they’re not using their elemental abilities but merely their brute strength in this brawl. This means that they’re not bestowed protection by their spirits and that this could eventually lead to their death (seeing how serious their fight is). Soushu however believes that this fight is simply a form of communication between the father and son who hasn’t seen each other for a long time. Soushu explains to Ayano that both Genma and Kazuma are stubborn and dishonest, so they can’t really say what they feel through plain words.

After a few bouts, Kazuma manages to knock down Genma, and Ren can’t believe that their dad will be defeated. Things turn out similar to the anime, where Kazuma acts like he’s helping out his father when it’s all but a trick… and Ayano taking back what she felt about Kazuma’s attitude towards his father. Kazuma was even more sarcastic about what Ayano told him about拳で語る (kobushi de kataru) “speaking through fists (or a fistfight)”, as he replies “Oh, 拳で騙る (kobushi de kataru)” -> “deceiving [someone] through a fistfight” :p Ayano of course gets infuriated that he’s mistaking what she told him for something completely different ^^;;;

The fight continues, and Genma was about to resort to using his azure flame (and Kazuma was already in a ready stance as well), until Soushu finally steps in between them and stops their fight, seeing the damage it has caused their house. Soushu makes Genma and Kazuma pay for the damages, and Kazuma blames Ayano for one of the holes on the wall (probably the one that resulted to Kazuma getting punched by Genma while he was talking to Ayano ^^;; ) Hence, Soushu cuts off her allowance for half a year because of this damage ^^;;

Afterwards, it seems that Ayano was instructed by Soushu to tend to Kazuma’s wounds, and so he took him into her room (^-^). Ayano is of course dishonest as always and (pretends to) complains, “Geez… why is it that I have to tend to your wounds?” She looks at Kazuma, the guy who caused her allowance to be reduced… yet didn’t let out any complaints and accepted being tended to by Ayano (he didn’t complain the way he did in the anime).

Kazuma goes inside some room to take a rest… Ayano was still talking to him when he suddenly flopped onto the bed and covered his face with a towel, thus she told him “W-wait a sec!” Kazuma thought Ayano was mad that he’s going to smudge the sheets with blood, but it wasn’t so… she was already blushing furiously at that point when she told him “T-that’s not it…” (I’m thinking it’s more of her embarrassment that Kazuma’s lying on her bed or something :p) But well, Kazuma simply ignored her and so she sort of gives up on what she was thinking about earlier, and kneels beside the bed, resting her arms and head like the one in the picture (awww~ >o<). And the conversation went like:

Ayano: So, why did you fight with uncle(Genma)?
Kazuma: He’s the one who started it, so don’t ask me that (ask him instead).
Ayano: Uncle seems to… deny that fact (Ayano grins :p)
Kazuma: It’s the truth I tell you. That father must have been so mad when I defeated him before that he wanted to have his revenge… what a real nuisance.
Ayano: You found it annoying?
Kazuma: Why of course. Do you think I’m gonna fight against that monster when I won’t get anything out of it? Hand over some fight money, damn it!
(Ayano simply gazed at Kazuma while he’s letting out all these complaints, and a smile is clearly painted in Ayano’s face all this while)
Ayano: But, you seemed to have fun.
Kazuma: Of course not!
Kazuma: I hate violence, you know.
Ayano: Look who’s talking.
(Contrary to what she’s saying, Ayano’s actually resting her arms on the bed… and somewhat leaned her head as if she’s peeking at Kazuma’s face. They were close enough to come into contact with each other, yet far enough for their faces not to be seen by each other :3)

seconds later, like in the anime…
Kazuma: But you know…
Ayano: Eh?
(Kazuma reaches out his right hand, as though reminiscing what he felt when he used this fist to hit his father earlier)
Kazuma: Truth be told, I somewhat felt refreshed.
(and Kazuma lets out his usual sarcastic yet cheerful smile (like he really enjoyed what happened earlier), which is said to be the same expression he showed when he brought his father to the hospital before. And with this second battle with his father, he realized that there’s such a big difference between a normal fistfight and an elemental battle, the first battle they had)
(Ayano thinks “Geez~”, and her thoughts are shown, about how Kazuma possesses this incredible strength, and at times is heartless and callous. Yet despite this, there’s still this immature side of him, which is what she’s seeing at this moment :3)
Ayano thinks that Kazuma deserves to be criticized for his attitude (or what he did), but knowing how doing this will simply ruin his happiness, she just told him…
Ayano: I see, that’s great then. (aww >__<)

At this time, Ren was worried about his brother and decided to check on him, when he sees this really sweet and tender moment between Kazuma and Ayano~ ^-^ He became all flustered because of the ‘mood’ that’s stirred up inside the room and lost the courage to bother the two lovebirds

In another room are Soushu and Genma (and I don’t know if Soushu was the one who tended to his wounds or what)

Soushu: Looks like you suffered much damage from that fight. (Soushu’s somewhat snickering while saying this :p)
Genma: This is nothing.
Soushu: Really…
Soushu: You seemed to have fun (he’s also teasing Genma the same way Ayano is teasing Kazuma about the fight earlier)
Genma was said to have trembled the moment Soushu said this (because he hit the bull’s eye, but of course he pretends not to agree with this :p).
Genma: …I’m not the type who indulges in being battered (not a masochist XD)
Soushu: You’re stubborn as usual. Honestly, I’m envious that you’re able to have such a fight with your son. It’s something I can never have. (Soushu smiles even more XD)
Genma: … (speechless)
Soushu: Kazuma has become strong indeed. You must be proud of him, as his father.
(Genma turns to Soushu… about to reply back…)

Back to Ayano and Kazuma…

Ayano: But then, uncle must be really strong… for him to have pushed you to this point.
Kazuma: If we continued the fight, it would’ve been my victory.
Ayano: I wonder about that… What a scene that was when uncle sent you flying with his kick. I really thought you(r head) will go over the ceiling that time. (Ayano lets out a chuckle XD)
Kazuma: Shut up!
Ayano: Well, as they say, there will always BE someone better than you.
Kazuma: Yeah… and I’m the one who’s better.

(the latter part is the same convo in the anime)

Then, a little ‘epilogue’ is narrated about how Ayano thinks that Kazuma will certainly not lose in that fight against Genma, knowing well that his father must be on top of his list of people he doesn’t wanna lose to

After that, Kazuma raises his right hand (like in the anime), and mentioned the same words… about how he used to think of his father as someone he can never be at par with (but, things have certainly changed~ :3)

And almost in sync, the father and son lets out these words:

Genma: He’s still inexperienced.
Kazuma: That father of mine is already old. He would be better off retiring already.

And with this, Ayano and Soushu agrees that both the father and son are indeed… two peas in the same pod
