Synopsis: As Clare searches for Raki, she encounters an injured Claymore from an Awakened Being hunt. She sets off to rescue the captive warriors unaware of the enemy’s ploy.

It’s been three months and the organization is unable to contact Clare. Some think that Clare may have been killed by Ophelia but no corpse could be found. They found Ophelia’s body, however, and realized she had awaken. It is somehow unbelievable that Clare managed to defeat Ophelia. Nevertheless, the organization considers finding Clare top priority and so they assigned a certain Claymore to take on that task. That claymore is Galatea.

Clare has been going from town to town searching for Raki but is unsuccessful. In one of the towns she visited, she finds out from the innkeeper that Claymores are stationed there. A powerful Yoma is in the nearby mountains so four Claymores have been dispatched. Clare has been taking a medicine which suppresses her yoki, allowing her to go around town undetected by fellow Claymores. The drawback is that she couldn’t detect them either. From her room’s window, she sees four Claymores pass by. Clare thinks that it must be a hunt for an Awakened Being, which means, that one of the Claymores is a single digit. True enough, one of them senses Clare and looks at her direction. Clare hides herself just in time.

The following day, Clare learns from the innkeeper that the group of Claymores left before dawn. Clare goes to the market to resume her search for Raki. She sees a statue of the godesses Clare and Teresa and recalls how Teresa named her after one of the twin goddesses of love. Clare overhears a young boy and a girl talking about the statue and how a stranger asked them about it. Clare thinks it must be Raki. According to the girl, the stranger seems to be from out of town and was carrying something long. She was not able to ask for his name though because she was scared for the stranger was beat up and injured. Clare asks them if they knew where he went but they didn’t. It was ten days ago when they met him.

The day after that, one of the Claymores who went to the nearby mountains return. She is badly injured and is asking for help. Clare tries to assist her. The injured Claymore asks Clare to contact the organization. She says that the other members of the party are being kept alive by the enemy who seems to be plotting something. The injured Claymore dies and Clare leaves for enemy’s hideout but before that she asks the townspeople to take care of the corpse and bury it with dignity.

Meanwhile, in a cave in the nearby mountains, a huge, muscular man is torturing the captive Claymores. One of them has already died due to the agony. The huge man takes his orders from a little girl. It seems as if they are torturing the Claymores so that they will awake. One of the remaining warriors, unable to hold it any longer, completely awakens. The huge man fights her to test her strength. She loses and is deemed weak. The huge man finishes her off. The girl tells the surviving Claymore that she needs a warrior with a single digit status. The surviving Claymore is #9, Jean.

Clare arrives at the entrance and fights a bunch of Yoma. The girl senses her and is surprised at her weak yoki. She tells the huge man, Duff, that he can have her.
