Synopsis: Torogai narrates what happened in the Knot.

Torogai meets with one of the water people. She learns that the Nyunga Ro Im is a spirit that expels clouds into both Nayug and Sagu and creates water. She finds out that the Yogo legend of the evil water fiend’s defeat, or rather the entire Official Founding History is wrong. She asks the water people what will happen to the child who carries the egg. The water people tell her that the egg is harmless but the Nyunga Ro Chaga, the Guardian of the Sacred Spirit, must face a harsh fate, a certain death for there is the La Lunga or Egg-eater who will come to devour the egg. The water people then panic and start to leave but Torogai grabs the leg of one of them. Torogai is told that in an even day in springtime, the Nyunga Ro Chaga must go to the Place of Celebration. She asks for further details but the water being flees. A huge sunfish-shark-like creature appears. The water people seems to be afraid of it. They must be its prey.
Meanwhile, Shuga rereads the Official Founding History. The founding father, Torgal, crossed the seas and reached the land of Nayuro. It’s people, the Yakue, asked him to defeat a water demon that appeared every hundred years, bringing drought to the land. Torgal, Nanai, the Holy sage, and the Eight Warriors then went deep into the Aogiri Mountains. There, they found a child sitting near a spring. The child pointed to the spring and said to Torgal, “Worship me and I will bring forth a bountiful harvest to your land”. Torgal, however, was not deceived by the demon’s words. As soon as he drew the Sword of the Stars, the child transformed into a water fiend and attacked. Torgal and the Eight Warriors fought the water fiend for three days and three nights before they were able to cut off its head. Its blood flowed to the spring and at the same time, the heavens shook and lightning struck the spring. A blue light filled the spring which turned into a pure rain that fell on the land. The water’s blessing upon the land was restored and Torgal proclaimed himself Emperor, founding the New Yogo Empire.
Shuga realizes that the Official Founding History was a lie made for the sole purpose of ruling the land.
Balsa, meanwhile, is contemplating her previous fight. She was certain that she killed him but the teacher said he was alive. She takes a look at her spear and finds no blood stains. However, she thinks that she broke her word just with the intent of killing him. Then again, if he is alive, it would be fine.
Balsa then notices something bubbling in the ground. It seems to be charcoal oil. Suddenly a figure forms from the muck and calls her name. Balsa realizes it is Torogai. She comes quickly to her aid.
Back to the palace, Shuga does more research. He has found allies with the keepers of the Holy sage’s secrets who support Shuga after he told them that Chagum might still be alive. The keepers tell him that the Holy Sage will return after the third bell. Shuga goes down to the chamber of ancient tomes.
Tanda is nursing his master. Balsa and Chagum keep watch. Chagum tells Balsa that it was his fault since he went to the festival (referring to Balsa’s fight). Balsa tells him that it had nothing to do with him and that it was her problem. Torogai is now awake and finds out she stinks. Balsa tells her its charcoal oil. Tanda explains to her that Balsa found her in a pool of charcoal oil.
Torogai says that the egg isn’t harmful and that the Official Founding History is false. For two hundred years, the people have been deceived about it. Torogai the narrates what happened in the Knot, after meeting with the water people, she recorded the things she learned when suddenly she heard a noise. Her record, however, caught flames and a voice told her to leave it behind. It was one of the fire people. Torogai runs from it but if follows.
Back to Shuga, he continues to read the tomes. He finds out that the so-called water fiend is not a demon that brings drought but a being that bestows blessings upon the land. Shuga thinks that if it was indeed a water spirit that possessed chagum, then the drought signs must mean that Chagum died. He dismisses the idea however.
Continuing with Torogai’s story, she explains that Nayug and Sagu co-exist, influencing one another. She asks Chagum how caves are formed. She explains that caves are formed when soft layers of earth are dissolved by water. She asks Chagum what would become of the water. Chagum replies that it either be absorbed or it will become a river. Torogai tells him he is right. She resumes her narration of what happened in the Knot.
She found herself trap but then she heard the sound of water and thought that if she follows the flow of water, she might be able to get out. A river seemed to flow underneath. She tries to dig and realizes that the ground was covered with guano, bat droppings. She saw the fire being come after her. She tried to dig again. The ground collapsed and Torogai fell to a subterranean river. Still the water fiend followed. Torogai swam underwater and found another opening. She thought she was safe but the fire being caught up. Suddenly, she heard a voice telling her of an exit. She saw a source of light and headed quickly towards it. A strange liquid fell and Torogai realized that she could have been tricked so she could be eaten by a semi-transparent worm-like creature. It swallowed her whole. Torogai found herself in a pool after.
After hearing her story, Tanda tells her that the worm saved her life by eating her. She denies it and says she was just eaten. Balsa tells her that she is lucky to have escaped as part of the creature’s dung. Torogai says that she is sure that something that wants to protect the egg guided her.
Chagum asks that if the Holy Founding Father didn’t defeat the water fiend, why would it be recorded as the Official Founding History. Balsa replies that they wanted to glorify him so he can take over the land. Tanda thinks that it would be dangerous if they concealed the truth. Torogai thinks so too. She says that there must be a record in the court.
Torogai then says that she thought that the Nyunga Ro Im was stupid for laying its egg in the prince but she realized that if the court had known the true meaning of the egg, it would’ve been the safest place for it.
Shuga continues to research. He finds some important facts. He wonders why no one knew of it. If they had known, Chagum wouldn’t have suffered a horrible fate. Shuga then hears the chamber being closed although it is not yet time for the Holy Sage to return. Well, the Holy Sage returns and he seems to know that Shuga is in the chamber without his permission. He removes a key, trapping Shuga inside.
