Synopsis: Raki meets Priscilla, Deneve discovers Undine’s secret and Flora is suspicious of Clare.

The silver-haired man invites Raki to come with them, saying it will really help a lot. Priscilla rarely acts affectionately towards people. Perhaps the smell of the South on Raki reminds Priscilla of her family. The man explains that her family was eaten by Yoma.
A traveler passes them by and tells them not to go to Pieta. He says that many Claymores are gathered there and certainly, there might be Yoma. Raki upon hearing about it, tells the man he can’t go with them. He thinks Clare might be there. The man tells her that they are heading for the same direction. He asks Raki to come with them for Priscilla’s sake. Raki comes with them.
Raki finds out that the man is good with swords. The man tells him that he practiced a bit. Raki asks him to teach him.
Meanwhile, the Claymores are resting after the fight. A group of them were talking about how they are afraid of awakening. Undine, who hears it, finds it annoying. She walks out. Deneve tells those left in the room to pay no attention to Undine. Deneve then mentions about replacement equipments and goes to the storeroom to get them.
When she gets to the storeroom, she finds out that someone is inside. It is Undine. Deneve explains that she is going to get some equipment but Undine tells her not to come since she is getting dressed inside. Deneve finds it strange. She notices Undine’s swords and observes that they have different markings. She asks Undine about it and Undine snaps that she took it off someone who died. Deneve tells her that their swords serve as markers to their graves when they die but Undine snaps that the dead don’t need them.
Deneve goes inside the room despite Undine yelling not to come. When She opens the door, she sees not the musclebound warrior but a girl crying. Deneve comments that it is Undine’s true appearance. Deneve asks Undine whether she was afraid she nearly reached her limit. She tells Undine not to be ashamed about it. Deneve says that it seems to be too heavy an experience for a delicate and cowardly warrior. Undine reacts. Deneve tells her that she thinks Undine was originally a fragile warrior who gets through life by sticking to her closest comrade but the comrade loses her life in battle due to Undine’s weakeness. Deneve thinks that after that Undine vowed to become stronger than anyone else and that the reason why Undine keeps her yoki released and displays her muscles is to get the organization to approve the use of two swords. Undine asks Deneve how she knew but Deneve tells her she didn’t. It’s just a common story.
Helen goes into the storehouse. She notices someone is inside the inner room. Deneve comes out from it and tells Deneve there’s nothing inside that room, only livestock records. Helen gets a change of clothes then leaves.
Deneve goes back to the room and tells Undine that if the team learned of her present condition, they might fear the battle even more. Deneve then tells her a story about a young girl who had an older sister. Their family got attacked by Yoma and the elder sister hid the girl under the bed. From ther3, the girl could only watch as her sister got attacked by a Yoma. The girl eventually became a warrior but despite wanting to avenge her sister, she became a defensive warrior because deep in her heart, she didn’t want to die. Deneve then tells Undine that she has comrades and that they will support her in whatever she can’t do alone.
Flora, meanwhile, asks Clare to come with her. She takes Clare just outside the village. She then tells her that something is out of place. She asks Clare about her right hand. Flora tells Clare that she once heard a story of a warrior who used the same technique Clare uses, a previous #2, Irene. Flora explains that no one knows Irene’s whereabouts but she cannot imagine that someone who would become #2 die easily. She asks Clare where she got her right hand. Clare does not answer. Flora then draws her sword and tells Clare that she always wanted to know if her windcutter could approach the flash sword.
Jeane suddenly comes. Flora tells her it has nothing to do with her. She tells Jeane not to interfere but Jeane says she has a debt to Clare and that she cannot just stand by and let Flora cut Clare down. Flora asks if there is a reason for Clare to be cut down. Jeane says it doesn’t matter. If anyone points a sword at Clare, she will draw her sword. Flora explains that she did not intend to have a serious killing match since they don’t know when the enemy will attack next but she tells Clare that she cannot fight beside one she cannot trust. She then tells Clare that she will be removed from the expedition.
Clare tells her that she borrowed the arm from Irene. She explains that Irene is hiding from the organization that is why she didn’t want to talk about it. Clare tells Flora that Irene saved her when she lost her dominant arm in battle. Clare says that she will continue to fight for what she lost. She says that she will fight and live on to take the head of the Awakened Being, Priscila. Clare says that it’s the reason she became a warrior. Flora then says that they all have a reason to fight. She says that must survive and live on.
Back to Raki, he is now tired from practicing. He goes to sleep right away. The silver-haired man then senses that someone is coming. He goes to meet the visitor. His name is Rigardo. Rigardo tells the man that someone of his status should not be camping outside. The silver-haired man then asks Rigardo about Pieta. He then orders Rigardo to gather their forces. With their full power, they will annihilate Pieta. He commands Rigardo to stomp out the life of everything that lives, in his name, Easley.
Anyway, since the anime has started to deviate from the manga, I will discuss the differences with the manga. First, in the manga, Flora gets to fight with Clare (and Jeane does not interfere). She doesn’t ask Clare about her right arm. She tells Clare she just wants to find out which is superior: her windcutter or Clare’s flash sword. Clare says it’s pathetic. She tells Flora that she does not care about strength, rank or the superiority of techniques. What’s important to Clare is to kill as many Awakened Beings as she can. Flora tells her she’s got it wrong. She explains that especially in a group battle against an Awakened Being, it is important to accurately gauge each member’s power for it affects the organization of the battle and also its flow. Well, Flora fights with Clare and she concludes that The flash sword is superior in terms of speed but the windcutter is superior in terms of force and precision. Overall, they are on par. Clare tells Flora that she believes that the more precise technique deserves to be at the top. Flora also asks Clare if she has gone over the limit for just a second but she then tells Clare to forget that question.
Another difference involves Raki. In the anime, it is not mentioned how Raki got to the Northern Lands but in the manga, when Rubel told Clare about Raki (episode #18 of the anime), he mentions that Raki was captured by slave traders. Orphan boys are brought to the North while orphan girls to the East (where they are trained to become Claymores as in the case of Deneve). So when Raki was at the town ruins where he met Priscilla, he had just escaped from the dungeon where he was kept.

It is interesting to note that in the manga, Easley isn’t camping in the open with Priscilla and Raki. He seems to have a cozy house. Easley brings Raki to his house and when Raki awakes the following day, Priscilla is sleeping with him in the same bed. Also, in the manga, Raki did not tell Easley about finding a Claymore. Raki does not know that Clare is in Pieta. When he asked Easley to teach him how to use the sword, Raki tells him that there is someone he wants to protect. The manga Raki seems to be less wimpy than the anime one.
