Claymore – 21 “Invasion of Pieta Pt. 1″

Synopsis: The Claymores battle the next wave of Awakened Beings.

Easley, Priscilla and Raki are traveling. Easley tells them that they will be heading south to Pieta. He says that by the time they get there, everything should be over.

In Pieta, the Claymores prepare for another attack. Miria comments that the enemies this time are of a different level than the ones before.

Rigardo and an army of Awakened Beings are marching towards Pieta. When Rigardo went to see Easley, he told Easley that the three Awakened Beings didn’t return. He then told him that those three weren’t suited for a recon mission and that it would have been better if he was sent instead. Easley told him it doesn’t matter. He didn’t care if they returned. He only sent pawns whose loss wouldn’t affect them. Now, Eeasley knows that there are enough forces in Pieta to kill off those three. Easley also told Rigardo that if he were sent, Rigardo is also one of those who loses control. He called Rigardo the “Silver-eyed Lion King”. Rigardo asked him not to call him that name anymore. Easley ordered Rigardo to gather the Awakened Beings and secure the passage to the South. With their full power of twenty-seven, they will completely annihilate Pieta. It will become a city without a single spark of life. Rigardo orders the Awakened Beings to attack.

The evacuation of the civilians has been completed. Yuma’s arm hasn’t healed completely but it wouldn’t bother her fighting. The warriors have now all gathered. Miria tells them that they must all survive. The Awakened Beings come. The fighting begins.

Meanwhile, Easley tells Raki that from from where the arm, lives are disappearing one after another. He says its lovely. He then tells Raki and Priscilla to move on.

The Claymores, however, despite their numerous enemies manages to hold their ground against them, killing some of the Awakened Beings. Rigardo observes from a distance. Three of the Awakened Beings have been killed, among the Claymores, five. Rigardo is amazed that given the difference in strength, the progress of the battle is miraculous for the Claymores. He senses five strong warriors and realizes that those five are leading their respective teams in the fight. He goes towards Pieta.

The Awakened Beings suddenly disappear but they sense something colossal is coming. A man heads towards them. He tells them that he is impressed. Despite the hopeless circumstance, the Claymores manage to carve a path of survival. He then tells them that he cannot afford to lose any more of his forces either. He releases yoki and transforms. Miria recognizes him as Rigardo, the Silver-eyed Lion King.

Without warning, he goes for Veronica and cuts her in two. He suddenly appears behind Undine. Undine manages to block his attack but Rigardo is stronger, He cuts her in two also. Jeane engages him. She realizes that Rigardo is coming after the team leaders. She warns the others about it. She twists her arms then attack but Rigardo dodges and strikes. Jeane falls. Enraged, Clare attacks but Rigardo simply knocks her off. He heads for Flora and stabs his huge claws into her forehead. Flora dies. Now only Miria is left.

Raki, notices that Priscilla is gone. He tries to look for her. He sees a cave and is surprised to find Priscilla naked. He then realizes that Priscilla is eating the guts of someone. He realizes Priscilla is Yoma and tries to strike with his sword. But he can’t. He just can’t. Not when the girl is crying and calling for her family. Easley enters and expains that Priscilla is not a Yoma but an Awakened Being.

Raki notices that Priscilla has gone. He tries to find her and sees a woman running away. Raki finds a cave and sees Priscilla inside, naked. Raki realizes that Priscilla is eating the guts of a man.

Anyway, the animation has gotten really crappy. It would have been forgivable but the plot is taking a turn that is different from the manga. I don’t like this new direction. Well, in the manga, Easley asks Raki to look for Priscilla. He finds her standing naked outside. Easley comes then Priscilla tells them about something disappearing. Easley explains that those are lights though he knows that those were the life of warriors battling Awakened Beings. Thus, in the manga, Raki is not aware that Priscilla is an Awakened Being.
