Claymore – 23 “Critical Limit Pt. 1″

Synopsis: Clare continues to fight Rigardo.

Rigardo is amazed that Clare was able to come between him and Miria and cut off his arm at a speed that he lost track of for a moment. Helen and the others notice that Clare’s legs have awakened. Clare then attacks Rigardo who seems to have a small difficulty matching her speed. Since it’s inconvenient for him to fight with just one arm, Rigardo tries to take his fallen arm but before he could do so, Helen grabs it then destroys it to bits. she comments that Rigardo is originally an offensive type thus even in his awakened form, he isn’t good at regeneration.

Clare attacks again. Rigardo tells her not to get cocky just because she cuts off his arm. He prepares to strike but Clare escapes. Rigardo notices that even with though Clare has lightning speed, she can’t keep up with it herself. Clare advances again but Rigardo dodges. He comments that the moment Clare moves, she cannot apply minor changes to in direction. If he moves just a little bit, Clare can’t react accordingly and control her speed. He tells Clare her unnatural awakening is taking a toll on her body.

Meanwhile, Easley and Priscilla continue their journey. Easley says that Raki should be in Pieta by then. He then says that he hopes Rigardo didn’t defeat the person he is looking for before he arrives.

Back to Clare, her fight with Rigardo continues. Rigardo is able to match her speed this time and he hits Clare. Helen tries to help but Rigardo attacks. He is about to strike but he withdraws his hand since he sees Clare coming. Rigardo realizes that Clare is now able to control her speed. Rigardo is thrilled. It looks like Clare should be able to give him some fun. It’s been a long time since he had a good fight and the last time was his fight with Easley. He swears to defeat Clare then releases more yoki.

Easley senses Rigardo’s release of yoki and says that it brings back old memories. He says that the Claymore he’s fighting must be so tough that he is forced to fight seriously. He thinks that the Claymore no longer has a chance to win this time.

Clare continues to engage Rigardo. Miria observes that Clare is now able to control her awakened legs.

Raki arrives at Pieta and is seen by Helen. She takes him to where the other warriors are recovering from their injuries. Miria realizes that he is the boy who was with Clare before. Miria tells him to leave immediately. Raki says that he wants to meet Clare but the others tell him that there is nothing he can do for her already. Raki leaves the room and Helen follows him.

Raki sees Clare but becomes shocked to see her form. Helen tells him that her awakening is progressing. Shen then tells him that he can’t handle the situation.

Rigardo is having fun fighting Clare but he thinks it’s time to end the fight. He takes a huge slab from a wall and hurls it towards Clare. Easley who observes from afar says its the end. Rigardo is about to leave but he realizes Clare has escaped. She lunges towards a bewildered Easley. Clare releases more yoki then attacks Rigardo. Clare is nearing her limit. Easley admires how Clare fought. He is then slashed to pieces.

Anyway, this episode was fairly loyal to the manga EXCEPT the part where Raki comes. And Easley shouldn’t be heading to Pieta with Priscilla either. With these developments, the anime’s deviation from the manga is now clear. I am disappointed.
