Claymore

Claymore - 24 “Critical Limit Pt. 2″

Synopsis: Clare is now close to fully awakening and Priscilla remembers Teresa.

The remaining warriors rejoice that Clare has defeated Rigardo however Clare is almost close to fully awakening. Priscilla seems to sense Clare’s release of yoki and becomes afraid and leaves Easley.

Helen rushes to help Clare but Clare, now barely able to control herself, attacks her. She asks Helen to kill her because she cannot turn back anymore. Clare tells Helen that she will use her remaining strength to keep her sword from hitting Helen. Jeane, meanwhile, knowing what is happening to Clare, stands up.

Priscilla reaches Pieta. The corpses and the blood-stained walls reminds of her childhood, when her father, actually a Yoma in disguise, was eating her sister. She remembers her father’s head off with an ax. She also remembers Teresa and how she cut off her head too. Priscilla thinks that it’s Teresa’s fault.

Back to Clare, she is asking Helen to kill her while she has the consciousness of a human. Helen does not want to kill Clare but Clare continues to beg.

Suddenly, from somewhere within Pieta, a huge amount of yoki is released. Priscilla has transformed into her awakened form. She wonders why Teresa is still alive but no matter, she will kill her again. Clare sensing Priscilla, comes after her.

Meanwhile, Galatea is ordered by the organization to head to the North to assess the situation. She is ordered only to observe, if she does anything else, it will be considered as insubordination. Galatea senses that Clare seems to have awakened.

Easley realizes that Priscilla has regained her memories. He tells his remaining army of Awakened Beings that there is no more need to fight.

Miria and Helen plan to look for Clare. The only way to find her would be to look for her yoki. Deneve takes Undine’s sword and comes with them. They see Raki and they tell him not to follow anymore. The three try to search for Clare but they realize it is difficult as Clare’s yoki is scattered all over the place. Could it be that she has awakened completely?

They meet Galatea and they tell her that they will find Clare no matter what. Galatea asks them if they plan on dying at the place. She unsheathes her sword and to three’s surprise, she points Clare’s direction. Miria asks if Clare will be able to win. Galatea replies that she doesn’t know but it will be a tough battle for sure. Helen asks who will Clare be fighting. Galatea tells them it is Priscilla, the woman who killed the warrior said to be the most powerful #1 in history, Teresa of the Faint Smile. Galatea then tells them to hurry and the two leave.

Jeane finds Raki and tells him that if he doesn’t hurry, Clare will die. Raki tells her there is nothing he can do. Jeane tells him that she is going no matter what happens. Raki asks her why. She replies that she wants to save Clare. Raki stands up and follows Jeane.

Clare and Priscilla are now about to commence their fight.

As I mentioned in the previous post, the direction of the anime’s plot has now strayed away from that of the manga. Like the anime, Clare is at the brink of Awakening after fighting Rigardo.

Easley, Priscilla and Raki aren’t at Pieta, however. Though the Claymores fight Easley’s troop of Awakened Beings in the North, Easley has also sent some others to assault Riful in the West while he goes down South to take the land from Luciela, the other Dweller of the Deep who is, unfortunately, not shown in the anime.

Clare asks Helen to cut her head off because she can no longer revert. She tells Helen that she wants to die as human. Helen prepares to strike but Jeane stops her. Clare is surprised. Jeane tells her that it’s an exact reversal of the time when Clare helped her return to normal. Clare, however, says its different because it is too late already. Jeane approaches Clare but Clare, losing control, hits Jeane. Jeane, however, would not give up. She embraces Clare and tells her to turn back. She instructs Clare to align her yoki with hers, just like what she did before. Clare tells Jeane to get away and focus her energy on healing but wouldn’t. She tells clare that since she is an offensive type, the wounds she sustained are already lethal. She then says that she will use what little life she has to help Clare. She orders Clare to align her yoki. Jeane then thanks Clare and tells her that she is glad to have met her. Clare returns to normal but Jeane is dead.

The other warriors, however, are still fighting the other Awakened Beings (they didn’t leave when Rigardo came, unlike the anime). Deneve encourages Clare to fight, saying that if she doesn’t, Jeane’s death would be in vain.

Now, only seven are left standing: Miria (#6), Cynthia (#14), Deneve (#15), Helen (#22), Tabitha (#31), Yuma (#47) and Clare (#47). Miria rallies them to fight their last battle.

Seven years after that expedition, it is revealed that the seven are still alive. And even then, Clare still hasn’t met Raki.

I am sad that the anime’s conclusion will be different. Heck, the manga hasn’t even been concluded. Anyways, two more episodes to blog.

  1. It’s quite sad that they did not follow the manga. It’s the best manga I’ve read so far (I only read 4 so far, will that qualify for an opinion? :) )

I don’t know what they wanted to do in the anime but obviously they’re going to the revenge storyline. Clare would I expect surpass yet again her current level. Maybe she would be sane enough to completely control her awakened yoki.

I don’t see why Galatea should make a cameo again in the anime. I sense she maybe the key to make clare align herself to her yoki. It would be a waste of frames if she does nothing.

I am particular with Galatea because its not clear in the manga what happened to her. They made quite a character development for her. I expect something should come up if only they will continue the manga.

BTW, there is quite a buzz in the forums regarding the make up of the survivor 7. Well clare, deneve, helen and miria is a given. But why cynthia, tabitha & yuma. If I remember correctly, tabitha & yuma are defensive types. I don’t remember what cynthia does. Nevertheless, they are unique bunch…I can’t fathom the reason for this. Are the next battle, with the twins, needs more control than bruteness?

    just my rambling :)
