Synopsis: Clare continues to fight Priscilla.

This is it! The final Claymore episode. I’m glad I was able to catch up on my backlog. Anyway, since the plot of the anime has now deviated from the manga, what happens in this episode wouldn’t be called canon, would it?
Anyway, Jeane and Raki arrive to find Clare releasing more yoki. Most, if not all parts of her body has awakened. Inside Clare, the resolve to kill Teresa burns more and more.
Priscilla sees Clare’s nearly awakened form and thinks Clare is a Yoma. Priscilla becomes enraged. She throws lance-like projectiles to Clare but Clare escapes and attacks Priscilla with her flash sword. The two fight fiercely.
Priscilla’s size increases and she catches Clare with her hands. She says that she’s disappointed. She realizes that her opponent isn’t Teresa but she does smell like her. She releases Clare and throws the lance-like thingies again. As Clare falls, Priscilla goes after her but Clare propels herself towards Priscilla, severing her wings. Priscilla falls.
She becomes frightened because to her, Clare is Teresa. Priscilla reverts to her child form, crying. Clare is about to strike but Raki goes between her and Priscilla. He begs Clare to stop. Raki tells Clare that Priscilla may have killed someone important to Clare but Priscilla also lost her family to Yoma and not just Priscilla, everyone has lost someone because of Yoma. Raki then tells Clare that she can’t become Yoma. It seems, however, that what Raki said has no effect on Clare. Clare prepares to strike but Raki embraces her. Eventually Raki’s words reaches Clare. Clare remembers her promise to Raki. Tears fall from Clare’s eyes and she tells Raki to get away as she can’t return anymore. Clare strikes.
Jeane, however, knocks Raki out of the way. She gets hit instead. Jeane tells Clare that their roles are now reversed. She tells Clare that when she awakened, Clare brought her back. She then tells Clare that she will now return the favor. She reaches out to Clare and instructs her to align her yoki with hers. Clare, however, tells Priscilla to get away. Jeane tells her that she has already sustained fatal wounds. If she is going to die, she wants to use the remainder of her life for Clare. Jeane then tries to synchronize her yoki with Clare’s but Clare complains. Jeane tells her to concentrate. Clare explains to Priscilla that even if she reverts, she has no reason to live anymore, especially if she can’t kill Priscilla. Jeane tells her that she can find her reason to live later. She tells Clare that there are people who want Clare to live, people who have entrusted their will to her. Jeane then tells Clare that she is glad to have met her. Blinding light consume both Jeane and Clare.
Clare, now back in her human form, finds Jeane fallen on the ground. Easley comes and takes Priscilla with him. She tells Miria that though Priscilla is unstable, he isn’t giving up on her yet. The Claymores unsheathe their swords but Easley tells them that he doesn’t have an appetite after all the fights that occurred. He tells Raki that they’ll meet again. He also tells him to sharpen his swordsmanship until then. Easley disappears.
Meanwhile, Rubel asks Galatea about the progress of events. Galatea was observing from afar. She tells Rubel that aside from Priscilla, Easley showed himself as well. Rubel asks if the warriors died. Galatea tells him that she doesn’t sense their yoki. She only tells him that if it concerns him so much, he can go and confirm it himself.
Miria, Helen and Deneve have all separated from Clare. Helen asks Miria if Clare will be alright. Miria replies that whether Clare stands still or moves forward, it will be her own decision. The three then decide to go their own way but they also plan on not returning to the organization. Miria then tells the two that they will meet again.
Clare and Raki is at the grave they made for Jeane. Clare is glad that Raki survived the whole time. She tells Raki that she has no plans of returning to the organization. Raki and Teresa leave. Clare looks back one more time and sees Teresa smiling at her.
Well, I’m sure that those who’ve read the manga and seen the anime as well are disappointed at how the anime turned out. But I guess the producers have their reasons. For one, the manga is not yet finished. The manga is just a few chapters away from the Northern Expedition arc. If the anime were to follow the manga’s flow, it would run out of material soon. They would either have to do filler arcs (as what was done in Naruto) or they would have to make a different conclusion. Either way, it would be more disappointing than it is now. I guess the anime could have ended after they fought the Awakened Beings that remained in Pieta (after Rigardo was defeated).
Oh well, a second season, however, is not improbable but the plot has to be manipulated so that it can continue from where it left off in the manga. For this to happen, Clare must meet with Miria, Helen and Deneve once again. Cynthia, Tabitha and Yuma must be with them too. As for Raki, he has to be separated from Clare and must be reunited with Easley and Priscilla. Easley did tell Raki that they will meet again. But then, Raki already knows about Priscilla and about Easley, so it will become a problem.
Anyway, Claymore is one of those anime which people watch despite the crappy animation. In some anime, the animation quality dips somewhere in the middle but the producers redeem it in time for the finale. In Claymore’s case, however, the animation was hopeless. Well, it’s not that bad. It’s just crappy.
And Claymore has a compelling plot anyway. Though the concept of people battling monsters, demons and what-have-you’s is a common theme in anime, Claymore transforms that concept into something fresh. Still, the plot, at least in the anime, was a let down in the end.
So if the anime left you empty and wanting for more, read the manga. If it doesn’t work, wait till Norihiro Yagi continues the story.

No point discussing because its just plain disconcerting?
Anyway, thanks for the summary…saves me the trouble of actually seeing it myself.
It’s a total let down. If they would arc out of the manga, at least they should have made a little justice. The ending was like star wars where darth vader did not die…instead runs away with the emperor and lives in remote island.
They thought they can get away with it. They freeze the claymore universe at the last chapter in pieta, decided they can do anything to the characters as long as the character state stays the same. “Lets kill jean, she dies in the manga anyway”. “We should get Galatea do a cameo, she was mentioned in the manga too”. “How do we keep them from killing each other?”. “Ok we make raki to be yoda”. “Clare would be luke skywalker”. “Raki tells Clare ‘Priscilla is your FATHER’”. And I think you get it from there.
Ok let take a character check. Clare, Raki, Miria, Deneve, Helen are still alive, right? Same in the manga. Jeane died, galatea should up. Isley is still with Priscilla. Exacly in the manga.
End of story. That’s it.
I did not find the animation crappy (either I have low standard or I don’t have any idea what it means).
The good thing about the anime was it was fast-paced, not in the sense that you’d want it to finish immediately, but to make the story standout. The manga too is quite good in pacing. The anime made it better by including only what is relevant to the setting and plot. And resist the urge to create moving fillers between each manga frame.
Found the animation to be excellent compared to your average Japanese TV Series (check Kaze no Stigma per ex.).
Also, I found the ending very satisfying given the manga context (not over and not resolving anything at this point).
I guess it also let them (MH) able to make a second season or even a third to fill in the 7 year gap eh?
As long as a they arrive to the same situation as the one described in the manga (Raki actually goes MIA, has been in jail and supposedly escaped). /shrug. Wait and see, but overall a good ending to a magnificent series. Definitely a DVD buy.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Ending was full of crap! The moment they deviated from the manga I knew it would end like this. I would have been happier if they just ended it with a HUGE cliffhanger than change the story. heheh
Second season would be even more crap if they are planning on making one since the little details surrounding the entire story has been changed. Probably the only way to restore it would be to introduce amnesia to all the characters involved in the Northern War and get things back on track with the manga. lol Pure Disappointment.
I do agree the animation wasn’t very good but those fast paced action scenes and the plot kept me watching till the end.
@bum3le8e3
Star wars meets Claymore would be interesting. I like when Raki, playing Yoda, tells Clare that Priscilla is her father. Lol.
@everyone
True, true. What also made the plot compelling was its fast pace, either in the anime or the manga.
Still, I think the animation is crappy. I’ve seen so many anime that my standard regarding animation becomes higher.
Instead of claymores they would use light sabers
hehehe
They are equally destructive with the force or yoki
the ending was stupid. i think the manga would have been better. the battle was like totally stupid and all.
