Flame On!

yosh! I hope I’m not the only one who feels this way towards the coming JLPT…! rawr! The exam is only a few days away (this coming December 2, 2007), and three of the chefs are taking part in this “big event” =P absolute0 and yours truly are taking JLPT2, while hamster chef Seleria is taking JLPT3.

Yuumi and I share the same pastime, minus the fondness for tragic stories.

I’ve been thinking about this for quite some time now, ever since I noticed that I seem to be the only one freaky(?) enough to read mangas or novels in public transportation, at least in our country (Philippines). I know I’m not the only one who buys mangas here, as the manga business is steady flourishing with the coming of the North American-licensed mangas. The reason why I have yet to see someone do the same pastime during the long train or jeepney ride is either because (1) they’d rather read their mangas at the comfort of their homes or somewhere else (those who decided not to flaunt their otakuness), (2) the percentage of people buying mangas here are so few that there’s but a slim chance that I’ll run into one who will actually read it in public, or (3) the ones who buy these mangas are so rich that they don’t ride the public transportation like I do.

Kai is smooth~ as usual

This has got to be my favorite episode so far. My doubts and confusion with the previous episodes, particularly regarding Mao and Kai, were more or less cleared up (or am I merely putting on that pretense?). There are no romantic developments between Asuka and Kazuki yet, and I wonder if the pairing will become Asuka x Eriko instead of Eriko x Kazuki =P

Shugo Chara Episode 8 - 「君の瞳に恋してるっ！」(I Fell in Love With Your Eyes)

It’s the LOVE SUN! LOL

The true SPICE girl Misaki appears in this episode, teaming up with the COOL and SPICY Amu for the quest to win Prince Tadase’s heart, despite being rivals in love~ This girl is overflowing with cheerfulness and optimism that Amu gets infected by her genkiness, as she tags along her plans. Unlike Amu who knows nothing about her beloved prince, Misaki knows Tadase’s complete profile, aside from his Shugo Chara persona. We also find out that there’s a Tadase fanclub in their school, a Hibari Four-like gang, headed by the obnoxious Saya Yamabuki.

To all the bloodthirsty people who’ve been longing to see Vampire Knight animated, suffer no more for that wish has finally been granted! It’s been announced in the latest Lala magazine, with no definite schedule or cast as of now. Expect a star-studded cast if they’ll have the same seiyuus as the Drama CD, with Yui Horie as Yuuki, Mamoru Miyano as Zero, and Daisuke Kishio as Kaname, among others (side characters whose voices include Jun Fukuyama, Junichi Suwabe, Koyasu Takehito and Hoshi Souichiro +___+)

The end result? Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 3 =P

Released on PS2 by Koei, this RPG otome game features Japanese Historical figures such as: Minamoto no Yoshitsune, Musashibo Benkei, Taira no Atsumori, and Kajiwara Kagetoki, all in its bishiefied glory. And now the anime is only a few weeks away~ (December 28) too bad it’s just an anime special =__=

I’ve become… emo~

Took me long enough to get this one out. Been busy with work and JLPT studies, and now I came down with a slight fever which started out with a sore throat (curse that cake I ate =___=) Hopefully, this won’t happen next week or else my JLPT is doomed o__O (reminds me of what happened to Mao).

I have previously mentioned that one of the likely reason why they are extending—or why they can extend—Shugo Chara to 52 episodes is because of the show’s marketability, or perceived profitability.

The manga was already popular before the anime hype, mostly among shoujo fans, but it was not until the anime aired that it became mainstream, or is on the verge of becoming one. The anime was well-received, by both men and women, young and old, despite its cuteness, frilliness, and saccharine shoujo goodness, supposedly aimed at young girls. The lightheartedness of the show, with its loveable characters and overall enjoyableness factor is what most likely contributed to this. Enjoyableness in this sense encompasses the smuttiness of the show, thanks to Ikuto~, which I believe guys enjoy in this show as well, pervs and non-pervs alike. In case of pervs who want to see more of the SekuHara (sexually harassing) Ikuto, it can also be interpreted as “projecting themselves to Ikuto”, with whatever desires they might have on loli Amu >.>’’’’

The reception of old kimoota (kimochi warui otaku) guys to this show is attested by both these fanboys, and even more wild fanboys. The girls weren’t as active as the guys in the Shugo Chara events scene, but I’m sure they are just around the corner *points to self and these women* There’s also this kimoota who recently appeared, taking a footage of himself doing the LOVE POWAH attack, wearing the Humpty Lock toy half naked *shudder*

I have been a regular lurker in the Shugo Chara 2ch thread(s) as of late, looking forward to spoilers regarding chapter 23 (which came out in Nakayoshi’s December issue, released last November 2) because chapter 22 was such a cliffhanger… and I’m dying to know what happens to Daiya >__<''' Sadly, the Shugo Chara manga community in 2ch isn't as active as those with other mangas, where people post spoilers of the latest chapters, even before the actual release of the manga phonebook where it's serialized ^^;;

My lurking efforts, however, did not go unrewarded, because someone graciously posted... two "shots" of pages from Chapter 23, showing us some new Shugo Chara moves, with one oddly similar to the DBZ Fusion Dance o__O
