This week we get to see crybaby Yayaâs life as a ballerina and the prima donna of their ballet class Maika (or MaiT, as Yaya calls her) who gets deprived of the chance to show her l33tness in their upcoming performance as she sustains a sprain injury from pushing herself to her limits. Maika gets depressed as she thinks that this little mishap will ruin her ballet career, just like her mother. But of course Amu once again shares her words of wisdom which she learns from Mr. Planetarium Caretaker, about how heroines of fairy tales start out having a sad fate but eventually transcends the suffering in their life, paving the way for their own happy ending~
Thoughts
This turned out to be an enjoyable episode, as we see the usual dilemmas of a prima donna (whichever field they might be) and learn more about Yaya. Though her chara transformation isnât the least bit impressive because her attack proved useless against that little X-Chara ^^;;; Yaya is still a crybaby, but not quite in ballet, where we see her determination despite all her slip-ups.
Lesson for the day: We are the star of our own story! yay! :p
We also learn more about the mysterious Tadase-look-alike guy from the last episode, who introduces himself as the Planetariumâs Caretaker. He gave several hints here regarding his real identity, like how he told Amu that he writes novels, stumbles upon lost little kids in the planetarium, and his fairy-tale metaphors which rid Amu of her doubts. Then again, I think seeing him in the last episode and his knowledge of the Coming of the Joker was enough hint to say that heâs no ordinary planetarium caretaker
It was nice to Amuâs Amulet Spade chara transformation this time, but the animators couldâve made the transformation sequence more creative, since they simply added a blue luminosity or color effect (in photoshop terms) for the original Amulet Heart transformation ^^;;;
Iâm a bit worried about that one chapter they skipped before this ballerina episode, because itâs a MUST see. Iâm crossing my fingers that they just postponed this until Utau shows up. Showing this couldâve broken the predictable âBad Egg of the Weekâ plot weâre seeing of this series at this point. Despite that, I like some of the changes (or adlib) they made in this episode, like the tension-filled meeting between Ikuto and Yuu, where he is informed of the next egg to dispose of. In the manga it seemed like Ikuto was randomly staying at the nearby post when he witnessed the Evil Egg Battle.
However, the changes they made in the past has taken a slight toll in this episode, as we no longer see Ikuto surprised to see Amuâs Humpty Lock which goes with his key, since he already knew the lockâs whereabouts ever since the first episode. It couldâve added a dramatic effect. Rather than that, I think the change I didnât like is how they revealed Yuu-sensei to be Mr. Evil Egg. I know it was subtly revealed much earlier in the manga, but the anime couldâve postponed this revelation tillâŠ

Now that scene will be so anticlimactic OTL.
It seems that this anime is going to run for more than 13 episodes, unlike the earlier rumors. The present rumors say that this show is gonna run for 52 episodes which seems to be where this anime is heading, seeing how the next four episodes are anime-originals / fillers (saw it in Newtype) o__O Theyâre also going to feature Sueâs transformation in episode 10, in a not-so climactic and exciting situation as it shouldâve been in the manga o__o
Next episode seems to be a fun episode though, as we get to see little Amiâs egg adventures lol
It was fun seeing Kuukai cry tears of joy in this episode, btw

52 episode of shugo chara… hmm… is it worth it? i saw much better animes who deserve to have more then 13 episodes but they didn’t make it…why would shugo chara be any special?
I like Shugo Chara….but I wish instead of 52 eps for SC, they could have made more of Peach Pit’s other anime, Zombie Loan. ZL is much less pink and happy….and chockful of bishounen ^^.
I love Shugo Chara, but they should’ve stuck to the plot of the manga. The plot of the manga was just fine, so I wonder why they changed it.
I think the pink-ness of this show, and the fact that it’s supposed to be aim at kids is the main reason as to why they can extend this show to that length. The franchise of this will really sell, considering the number of merchandise they can produce.
We already have plushies, figurines, cards, and… hair bands. Just about every original accessory in the show could become a sellable merchandise, and I believe many kids will actually buy them o__O
It sort of reminds me of Kirarin Revolution… where I see the Toys R’ Us store in Japan filled with those stuff =__=
huh…i still don’t get it why wouldn’t for example have 52 episodes of KNS, Please Teacher,Claymore,….
as far as i read they were very popular…but not at kidz under 5 :/
Hmmm, 52 episodes? Fine with me
But there better be more Ikuto screentime + Amu with him
lol
It’s like Full Moon wo Sagashite, it got 52 episodes and it’s a kid show. (unlike the manga, it has a more teen vibe than the anime)
Though, I hope the anime sticks with the storyline >__> I don’t want TOO many anime fillers. Well, just not stupid ones, unless they’re funny, like the Ami-chan one
That I guess, seems interesting enough
Anyways, KUKAI IS JUST AWESOME! 8D lol Seeing him crying is funny
Damnit me want suubs now!
Damn, DearS and Zombie Loan could’ve used more episodes.
Zombie Loan in particular.
@kazumaXX: Shugo Chara seems popular among many fans regardless of gender and age. And I think they prioritize the “marketability” of the show rather than quality, which is one of the strong points of this series.
@Tomochii-Chan: yeah, I see the same trend here with FMoS, as well as Kirarin Revolution which I’ve also mentioned in my earlier comments.
@Makall: I agree that Zombie Loan needs more eps… argh! >__<
hmm… it’s weird that the raws weren’t put up at youtube. also, the subbed was just released yesterday but haven’t been uploaded yet. i feel kinda behind on this:p i hope new scans will be released soon…
@beingmeyuki: uploaders are on strike
Well I finally got around to seeing this epi, yay for Miki’s chara become! Although I agree with you, they could have made that part a little more orignal. And I’m starting to get worried about those filler epis since filler usually =bad when it comes to anime….
I was just wondering
how many episodes are there to Shugo Chara? And which episodes are subbed?
