Took me some time to finish this because it’s been busy in the office, with work and some extracurricular Christmas activities :3

Before I go on babbling about this episode of Shugo Chara, allow me to share a few words about my JLPT tale. Fear not for what I’m about to impart is not a JLPT horror story, but rather something Shugo Chara-filled, so it’s not really off topic :p

Let’s just say I felt the presence of Shugo Chara while I was taking the exam, particularly in the first reading / comprehension item, which had “なりたい自己/自分” (naritai jiko/jibun – wannabe or would-be self) written all over it. It didn’t involve any eggs however; it just told of the writer’s realization, about how studying—
through experiencing and witnessing different things, not simply within the four walls of the classroom—is a means for people to broaden their horizons and perspective in life, allowing them to discover their wannabe/would-be selves in the process. So Shugo Chara-like

Since I kept myself from watching this episode the day before the exam, I thought that this must be my Shugo Chara’s way of telling me to go chara-change into my Shugo Chara-loving self once again loooool. It was really funny I kept myself from laughing so hard Owen said I should’ve done the “Watashi no Kokoro, UNLOCK!” chant, and I guess I just did, at the back of my mind =P God knows I would’ve been disqualified from the exam if I followed the footsteps of a certain shameless kimoota.

The results of the exam won’t be out till late February or March, and at this point, I can slack off from studying the hardcore way (using the good ol’ Kanzen reviewer), in light of the natural method of learning I’ve always enjoyed - animu/manga/novel/jpop/games =P My listening really need further brushing up… so much for my lack of anime/dorama exposure since last year.

Yush, on to the show~ :3

Nadeshiko’s secret wasn’t revealed in this episode (which I sort of expected), though we learned about her family—the esteemed clan of Fujisaki, famous for its cultural heritage in Japanese dancing. As Nadeshiko was from a family of nobility, she had to undergo rigid training in Japanese arts, especially in dancing, with her strict mother as her instructor.

Fu-ji-sa-ki-HA! ROFL

The topic about Nadeshiko was brought up during one of the Guardians’ meeting, where Amu envisioned the Fujisaki as this dojo having a trademark fu-ji-sa-ki-ha! Martial arts technique (parody of kamehameha LOL). Nadeshiko was quick to notice that Amu was disheartened at the thought of how clueless she was about her, so despite her busy schedule, she invites Amu to her house for some quality time together~

Amu brings home the news about the Fujisakis, and Ami had the same kamehameha visualization when Amu mentioned nichibu and fujisakiha (it’s supposed to refer to 日舞(Japanese dance) and 藤崎派(Fujisaki group), but they thought of it as 日武(Japanese combat arts) and 藤崎波(fujisaki wave)). So yeah, Amu and Ami’s comprehension is of the same level… o_O

Amu was all excited because this is the first time she’s able to spend time at her friend’s house~ We all know that Amu has always been COOL and SPICY, even as a little kid, so no one dared to invite her for such a sleep-over. Little Ami wanted to tag along, but changed her mind after hearing Amu’s Fujisaki horror story.

Amu, living the ojousama life~

Amu gets to experience how it’s like to be an ojousama in the time she spent with Nadeshiko, and even showed her skill in dancing, only to end up having a cramp of disgrace lol. As nighttime comes, Amu shows her true scaredy-cat color, who thought all the stuff she made up in her horror fanfic came into life, thanks to Temari and Amu’s Shugo Charas, who were unintentionally behind the shadow of these “monsters”.

Amu managed to sleep after hours of struggle but wakes up in the middle of the night, discovering Nadeshiko in her late-night practice session. Amu was saddened to have learnt of the sacrifice she did for her sake, but the Fujisaki’s baaya (old housekeeper) assured her that her friendship with Nadeshiko is what makes her glow, as can be seen in the way she dances.

So yeah, Amu and Nadeshiko’s friendship has become stronger than ever~ Amu looks forward to spending more time at Nadeshiko’s house, and I look forward to the day they’ll be showing someone’s little secret.

Amu comes home, and proudly tells her little sister that she managed to seal off all the monsters in the Fujisaki house LOL. Ami believed it of course, and was filled with admiration for her oneechan =P

Thoughts

It looks like they’re still not revealing the juicy tidbits in the show, and I don’t really know if they’re ever gonna reveal that. I mean, they can change Nadeshiko’s you-know-what if they want. o__O and people will be confused as to who’s the real Nadeshiko That, and the lack of Ikuto, are my only gripe for this episode. Otherwise, it’s all good.

We got to learn more about Nadeshiko and the Fujisakis, something that wasn’t even shown in the manga. Similar to the previous episode, we see more of the chibi COOL and SPICY Amu :3

Rats make Temari go WILD and YANKEE

As for the kamekameha DBZ reference in this episode, I actually think it was inspired by the DBZ Fusion parody in the recent Shugo Chara chapter lol. Cliché as the jokes were in this episode, they turned out to be entertaining and fresh because of the Shugo Chara touch, especially with Temari’s yankee mode

Next week, we’ll finally see Ikuto!! And I wonder if there’s going to be an Utau x Amu deathmatch?

P.S. They featured the Shugo Chara Flow cards in this episode again… talk about marketing within the show ^^;;;
