Countdown to Christmas #2: On Being Part of the Anime Blogging Community (in general, not simply ABC)
(Ok… I was planning something else for this day, but I just thought this would be more appropriate for the recent turn of events in the blogosphere)
Just for the record, I joined the ABC not because a Hitler forced me to. I am fairly new to the AB channel, so I don’t have the same impression and antagonism as other people towards Owen, and even if others find him a jerk, his efforts for wanting to forge this blogging community, is admirable nonetheless. Do note that the ABC is not under dictatorial leadership; basically everyone in the group can be leaders, as with the case of
I consider myself a neophyte in the blogosphere, and despite blogging for almost a year now, I felt I was distant from the rest of the bloggers. During my first few months in blogging, the people I’ve interacted with are mostly people from the same forums I actively participate in, my fellow fangirl and co-blogger Seleria, and only a measly number of other bloggers. Other than that, I’m all passive and too engrossed in my own blog to actively hop step jump! to other blogs lol.
Still, there’s that desire to become part of the anime blogging community, in the truest sense of the word. And it’s not until recently that I actually felt I belong to one. I owe much of that to joining the AB channel, which allowed me to interact with other bloggers and the rest of the people in the channel, beyond the confinement of the blog. The reason why I joined the ABC is in line with this same desire to become closer to the entire community, as it will prompt me to participate in ongoing discussions, rather than stay passive (and lonely lol). My lazy ass really needs some whipping, so that I’ll interact with other blogs more frequently.

When Owen invited me to join the ABC, I felt it was an honor, that our blog was somehow recognized as worthy of becoming part of the said group. There’s that certain joy when you are recognized by other bloggers, which is exactly what we felt when tj pimped our blog. It stroked our ego of course, and at the same time served as a reassurance, that the insights and efforts of this newbie was actually recognized

If I remember it right, tj’s pimping was during the peak of our blogging, when we were still very much on fire. Our blogging activity went a little downhill during my Japan trip, and sometime after, because I enjoyed it too much and neglected blogging (and the other chefs became bogged down with work) >__> I’m actually regretting not maintaining the consistency of the blog that time, which could’ve allowed us to expand the reach of our blog. Oh well, it’s not too late to be active~ (though it caused me to have such a HUGE backlog, which I’m slooowwwly catching up with) Hmm… I might just to a retrospective post regarding that Japan trip I had. It’ll be a waste not being able to share those interesting bits.
And that’s that~ /me hugs Mike (you might see Owen as a total jerk, but who knows, the real him is probably just a tsundere XD)

1) It’s not only me, though. I think you can observe from the volume of comments from my piece that many very well know that he is at the very least a jerk on IRC at the very least.
2) It’s a good thing, though. Whether from a prompting of mine, or with any other reason, he seems to have shut up, and it’s made the #ab IRC a place much more conducive for chatting.
I know it was bloody, but it’s fun to see something happening. It was, indeed, a win-win situation.
Hey, thanks for the support, Jen. I’ve actually noticed your blog way before this (I think it was when tj made that post) and always meant to invite you but I’d consistently forget… then I saw you on IRC that one time and finally remembered.
I’m not so much a leader as I am a figurehead or even a founder. It could be called leading if by leading you mean spamming the Google Group to get people to join in the latest joint blogging, but yeah.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to laugh at mike for thinking that he had any role whatsoever in “making me shut up” (it’s called having a life, but he wouldn’t know anything about that, the poor thing ): ), especially right after his smear campaign backfired in his face.
And I’m probably more yandere than anything. That is all.
I don’t particular agree on it backfiring. Call it anyway you like, though.
