A completely different and more emo Takayuki o__o
Initially, I wasn’t planning on watching any more of KimiNozo, after what I remembered as a suffocating and depressing ride with the original series. But after looking at some coverage from other people of the OVA that recently came out, I decided to watch it anyways, in the hopes that my sentiments for KimiNozo will change. As it turns out, this alternate ending seemed like an alternate universe of some sort, where we see Takayuki as a completely different person, and Mitsuki left out of the scene, with no explanations whatsoever. I’ll leave my judgments for the OVA till I get to watch more episodes, and reminisce my ride with KgNE instead.
I watched KimiNozo about 3 to 4 years ago, because it was highly recommended by people. I now remember it as a horrible part of my memory I never want to go back to. I think the fact that I marathoned it in 1 or 2 days made that even worse =__=. Contrary to how Ouran lifted my spirits when I was down, KimiNozo was its complete antithesis. It made me sooo depressed even when I’m supposed to be not. /me slits wrist. Saying “I hate KimiNozo” might be a sweeping statement. The more appropriate way to describe what I felt about the series, is that I hate how all the tragedies happened because of the actions and crappy decisions of the characters.
Going through it one by one: Haruka tells Mitsuki that she’s in love with Takayuki, despite sensing the feelings these two have for each other. Mitsuki on the other hand becomes the martyr best friend and decides to pair her up (with the help of Shinji as well) with Takayuki, despite their mutual feelings for each other. Bakayuki didn’t grow the spine to decline the offer, pressured as he was that time, and never fought for his love for Mitsuki. Then the tragedies followed after. *SIGH* As the episode went by, I found myself hating the characters more and more, except Haruka, who seemed to be the only character who grew on me as the series came to an end.
Another thing I disliked about the series is how the characters found sex as a means to cope with their frustrations, guilt, and/or depression, particularly how Mitsuki slept with Shinji, who wasn’t able to decline the invitation because he has the hawts for her as well x__x Sorry for being conservative. Justifiable as the characters’ actions might have been, I really think that there are tons of better ways to cope with such depressions, something that won’t involve other parties at that. I know the series would not have been as melodramatic and the KGnE it was without that aspect, but I believe it serves as a role model of what not to do to cope with depression, in a real life scenario.
Despite how I supposedly hate this series, it has managed to carve a permanent scar in my little bunny heart and mind, which goes to show how strong its impact was on me… sigh T__T
P.S. I only recognized Kishou Taniyama’s voice as Bakayuki when I watched the OVA. WRYYYYY. I hear TsundeLen’s voiceee. Noooo. D:

I also don’t like that serie, because it made me depressed as well, and i felt odd for days and i also don’t want to watch it ever again… Do you know how many OVA’s they are going to made?
I totally agree with you, usagijen. I thought that show was completely overrated because I quite simply HATE the characters. Is there a bigger wimp than the spineless and idiotic Takayuki? Is there a more melodramatic damsel in perpetual distress than Haruka? And is there a bigger incapable of making intelligent decisions crybaby than Mitsuki?
But ok, my main hatred is still concentrated in Takayuki. He has tofu for brain. And that’s just insulting the tofu.
So though I saw that the OVA had come out, I have only the interest of train-wreck-gaping morbid curiosity to watch it. Or maybe less.
@kazumaXX: yeah, same here… it affected me for days… it still does, when I reminisce all the events in that anime >__>
There’s gonna be four OVAs, according to Moonphase
@Briar: Down with Bakayuki >3
I’m actually interested in what’s gonna happen in the next episodes of the OVA, whether they plan on having the same accident or what. Haruka’s sudden emo-ness got me a little o__O, but curious.
