@Sixten: thank you so much for your insights, I've been wanting to hear such inputs regarding Kouichi x Yuumi. One of the things which actually made this pairing less favorable for me is how Mao always seem to do things for their relationship to go smoothly. But as you said, the long-distance relationship might also work for Kouichi and make him grow even more spine.

I don't necessarily agree that Kouichi will remain passive if he ends up with Mao, though. Just the mere act of being able to weigh his feelings, and choose Mao over Yuumi already shows him a growing spine, to fight for what is right (and not continue deceiving himself, if he realizes that whom he really loves is Mao). Similar to the case with Kouichi x Yuumi's relationship, I guess this just means that there are also two sides to this one.

If, after Kouichi realizes that Mao loves him more than a brother, and he chooses Yuumi over her, I think it'd be but natural for him to give that push. To wish her all the happiness, to make her look at Kai, and love him back. I just hope Mao would get over her feelings for Kouichi before the series draws to an end, if Mao x Kai will end up together.

I love the lyrics of that song you mentioned... and I think that's already at the back of their minds, though I would've loved it if she said that to him ^^

@FlareKnight: but a part-time job can make you rich! that can be life-changing... hehe xD

one of the great things about KimiKiss (or one of its charms) is how it managed to make the characters endearing, to the point of making you so torn in between choosing between the two girls in the triangle (or the two guys, in Kouichi x Mao x Kai's case).

I also don't want choices to be made simply for convenience's sake. I want to see the characters stand up for what they believe in, despite the odds and difficulties. I just want to see a well-founded and developed love.

@CCY: yeah, I think making a suggestive post title helps a lot, especially with people who don't really have the time to read through each and every entries on the series.

Kouichi and Yuumi's relationship still has much room for growth and development, the more they get to know each other in a deeper sense. I think I attribute the 'shallowness' aspect I see to their naiveness, which of course will be made deeper and stronger as they get to spend more time together.

I don't think Kouichi ever asked Yuumi out, or at least, it wasn't shown in the anime anymore.

ooh, Eriko fanboy gun... looks like I have to be careful with what I say :P

and... I can actually see the comments mentioned. I know Firefox sometimes has issues with the cached page view or something, which is probably why you don't see them... ?_? but yeah, it is funny...

(As a side-note; it says your post has three comments, but I can't see any of them. Are they waiting in moderation or is something funny? o_O)

Personally, since I usually scour all the discussions on an episode anyway, the title doesn't matter, but I do think that the added description ('your take' and the specifics on the relationships) would draw in people looking for more than an episode summary.

I think your insights on Kouichi x Yuumi are very apt, I didn't really consider the 'shallowness' of their romance, in that they're both experience their first love, and frankly, don't know what to do. Essentially, they are on cloud nine, living the teenage romance dream, and they do need some crashing down to earth.

Still, I would hope that such an event would only strengthen their bonds for each other, since I'm highly supportive of the two of them. I think they could both develop each other quite well; we've already seen a stronger side of Kouichi in the "we'll be together forever" line from 13, even if it was a bit idealistic.

Incidentally, when did Kouichi ask Yuumi out? I don't remember it, and that's another reason I liked their relationship, in that they weren't really bound by awkward restrictions like that. Is it an episode 15 thing?

Your observations on Kai, I think are right as well; Mao will help him grow as a person but she won't be his lover in the end. I think Mao's going to fire for Kouichi at some point in this show (given all the hints), and Kai's best shot is as a support for her if Kouichi stands by Yuumi, as the guy "who's been there all along," as tacky as that is. It doesn't seem his style like that, though. I could see a flip-side of a "You helped me discover myself, now let me help you discover yourself" thing on a stepping stone to Kai doing a selfless thing and helping Mao find her feelings for Kouichi.

I'm glad you saved your second triangle post for later, because I feel like I wrote a wall of text here. XD I'll ready my Eriko fanboy guns.

Have to admit this group of characters haven't interested me nearly so much as the triangle that will be discussed later :). So may not bring my best to this one.

I'm still not sure how things will eventually turn out. But don't think a part-time job is ever a life changing experience (unless wanting to end is a big thing :D).

Anyways am curious how Kouichi is going to handle things when picking up on the real difficulties of what he wants to do. How much time he'll have for school, his personal goals, friends, etc if he is out making money to go see Yuumi. Plus how will Yuumi deal if he's pushing himself so hard?

But I don't want him to just go to Mao because she's closer. If during it all he comes to decide he cares about her more then fine. Those two just feel like a good fit, but honestly wouldn't be bothered no matter how they all turn out.

Rough situation for Kai anyways. He really cares about Mao, but just doesn't seem like it will go his way.

Looking forward to the triangle discussion anyways. It's a really rough one. I like both of those girls so will probably kill me either way.

Yuumi supporters represent!

I would feel ripped off if Yuumi left, leaving Mao to snatch Kouichi away. That would put Kouichi in a relationship that he didn't really have to work to obtain. Although Mao is a good match for him and seems to know him very well, Kouichi could remain passive and spineless and the relationship would still work.

With Yuumi, I like to believe that even after Kouichi discovers how hard it is to maintain a long-distance relationship, he perseveres and makes it work nevertheless. That would show that he truly has grown out of being the boy who couldn't go anywhere in love without being pushed by his childhood friend.

I would also like the situations to be reversed in the end, where Kouichi is the one to give Mao the push that she needs. Kouichi has talked to Eiji, seeming to think that Eiji's the one who can make Mao happy.

There is also a song called I Promise I Will Try.

What you say is not enough
As what you try to do
You know it's true
Lord I'm just like you

Yuumi will make Kouichi try.
