the smiles in the faces of our dear characters is now but a memory of the past~
Ok, I’d have to admit, my KimiKiss passion has been going dowwnnnn… especially after episode 21. Hence the lack of blog posts for the past two episodes. I look back at the very first KimiKiss post I made, and I can see that the flare is not as strong as it was anymore, sadly so. I’d still continue watching this show till the end, and see how things are going to turn out, but I don’t see it exceeding my expectations any time soon.
There are only two episodes left, and where is the Asuka confession? nada. The spoiler for episode 23 mentioned that Asuka will be scouted for the Women’s Soccer League, and will perhaps be offered training somewhere abroad, just like in the manga. Kazuki is happy for Asuka, but the latter’s sadness over her bittersweet lovelife keeps her from being 100% happy over this news. Surprisingly, stupid Kazuki still hasn’t figured out why she’s feeling all down and depressed. T_T
By episode 24, Eriko realizes that she likes Kazuki (wow, that was… slow… x_x), but then she joins the Mao and Yuumi emo fest soon afterwards (I don’t know if this is still driven by her guilt in episode 22, or the turn of events with Yumi’s transfer). She once again shoves Kazuki away, thinking that if she and Kazuki will someday break-up, then why enter into the relationship in the first place? => uhm, wasn’t this like settled way back ep20? This turn of events with Eriko is like a deja vu of what happened way back Eriko and Kazuki hooked up. T___T Really now, aren’t we supposed to be over with the Eriko emo-ing?!
Oh, and I forgot to add, in episode 24, we’ll also be seeing one-on-one conversations between the two boys and two girls in our other love quadrilateral. Kouichi x Kai, on the topic of Mao, and Mao x Yuumi, on the topic of Kouichi. Who knows, perhaps we’ll see this series settling for a BL and yuri ending, to complete the supposedly breaking the harem game adaptations stereotype gig they started.
Upon further reminiscence of past KimiKiss experience(s), I see this (in my episode 14 post).
…I haven’t watched the other romance offerings of the fall season to proclaim KimiKiss to be the most superior of them, but it is undeniably one of the best.
I guess I’ll be taking this back now. I hate to admit it, but I’m really disappointed with how this series turned out. I know I should reserve my judgments till the end of the series, but I think the spoilers make it clear that this show is not gonna improve with the last two episodes. KimiKiss had so much potential, but then things went down the drain when it reached the 2/3 mark. We see the comeback of Mao (and now Kouichi’s) emo angst fest, and how Asuka has been reduced to a minor ’standby’ character. If things were done right with the latter half of this series, we could’ve seen more developments on Hiiragi, Mitsuki, and Megumi (the now forgotten Student Council president), as opposed to the roller coaster ride of emoness. First with Mao, then with Kouichi, now with Eriko (the ‘deja vu’ chapter). Sigh… just, sigh… =_______________=
In my opinion, true tears OWNS kimikiss real bad.
Well I wouldn’t worry on the Asuka confession side of it. Certainly they won’t end the series without Asuka getting her confession. Spoilers after all don’t tell the whole stories, or else there wouldn’t be a point in watching the episodes.
Can understand your feelings. After all you really care about Asuka and knowing for a long time now that she doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell could help to kill the enthusiasm.
Would agree some things just keep on repeating. Like Eriko yet again being worried about the end of a relationship and the pain that will bring. Amount of time Mao spent depressed. Now Kouichi and how Yuumi has known for a long time what’s going on.
If the series has done anything its taken perhaps too much time to get things done.
I’ve still enjoyed the show though and am looking forward to the conclusion. But can agree and understand how others feel.
I’m not enjoying this show at all, but I’m willing to continue watching it ‘cos I wanna know what happens to KoichixMao, plus I love ranting on about how much that couple sucks being together.
I am a bit skittish about Kazuki and Asuka… she just made him confused about his feelings… and now how will Kazuki convince Eriko, that his heart beats only for her? One episode to go… this is going to be interesting
I’m pretty sure everyone agrees with you…. =\
Started off great, started dragging like crazy…
@FlareKnight: hehe, episode 23 certainly was a relief for an Asuka fan like me
and I wholeheartedly agree, that the downside of the anime is the amount of time (and energy) it took just to resolve things. I’m just glad Asuka and Kai grew to become really admirable characters, despite being the underdogs.
@Blissmo: LOL. I think I might just rant, if Mao and Kouichi end up together, because that’ll be going against what Mao showed in ep22. But we’ll see…
@kazumaXX: hehehe. one thing I wanna tell Kazuki: Go regret your actionsi! Go regret you never looked at great Asuka!
@totali: …and it’s still gonna drag on… x__x it stays true to the “run run run~” aozora loop song
@usagijen: Am glad they got that moment in for 23. Even if Asuka didn’t have a shot she did deserve her moment. Will remember the good times of the series, but certainly the time and viewer energy things took at times was tough. Kai did a good job to become a better person even if he didn’t get the girl. Asuka dealt with falling in love and all that entails. Plus she will have a brighter future.
Well I’m not sure how much Kazuki will regret. Even Asuka didn’t see it coming until after Kazuki was already falling for Eriko. She was in a bad spot at the start of it all. She would have had to go for it the moment she knew and even then might not have gotten anywhere. Just tough how things ended up going for Asuka.
Just see how the series finishes up. That and go check out Asuka’s part of the manga to see how good things could have gone for her :).
If your spoilers are indeed accurate then, it ends with things a little too much up in the air for me. Do you suppose JCStaff is priming us for one or two OVA epi’s? Assuming there is enough fan support left any more to make it a worth while endeavor. The only two pairs I would have even a remote interest in are Kazuki x Eriko and potential Akira x Megumi. Yuumi, Asuka, and Kai deserved so much better than they got. The Udon Twins finally have their approval from Gramps. The rest can go jump off a cliff, get hit by a train, or whatever, I just wouldn’t care any more.
Kimikiss is one of those shows that I followed for the sake of testing my plot reading super powers. Yeah, not a good reason to watch something, I know
Well, I probably did too good of a job on that. When everything goes JUST AS PLANNED you lose considerable interest in the show.
At this point I WANT to be wrong. But regardless, here is my prediction: Mao x Kouchi will be realized because
1) Mao had home court advantage
2) Mao was childhood friend archetype which evolved into
3) A destiny girl archetype by several displays of childhood flashback sequences
4) Mao is part of the main character trinity.
5) I don’t think Mao has kissed anyone yet. She needs to live up to the title don’t you think?
Now with that being said, I will go back to my regular watching of True Tears (a much better show)
Mao did kiss Kai… but does that really change anything? I agree, and it does look like this has been a setup right from the beginning. Although most seem to like Yuumi better, I guess it just wasn’t in the cards. KimiKiss could have been so much better, what a letdown.
@FlareKnight: yeah, I recommend you go read Asuka’s arc there. It’s simple and sweet, a really cute and fluffy story. The perfect way to take a break from all the KimiKiss anime emoness hehe.
@Jauken7: I think Eriko and Kazuki will still be sealed, they just added another bout of Eriko-emoness, probably for the lack of another plot device? =__=”’
I doubt they’re going to release OVAs for this, considering that the ratings for the show is far from great. I’d want to see more focus on Akira, Megumi, Asuka, Yuumi and Kai too =/
@T_I: I think KimiKiss “twisted” the coupling a bit too much, it became a confusing and WTH-ride rather than an enjoyable one =__=
I’m now hoping Mao doesn’t end up with Kouichi… I already admired her for telling Kouichi he has Yuumi, and so the [possible] love between them can no longer be, way back episode 22. I’ll lose the respect I have for Mao (and Kouichi) now, if they end up together… =___=
