Getting Into the MyAnimeList Groove

April 27th, 2008 usagijen

While my fellow chef absolute0 prodded me to join MyAnimeList months back, lazy old me didn’t get to update my list until recently. While Owen and his constant MAL preaching did get me to stop bumming around MAL-ing, I’d like to think I did it for the sake of my fans (LOL!). So yeah, feel free to stalk add me as your friend. I’d love to know more about the lurkers in our blog =D

Hopefully, I’ll be able to regularly update my list, especially the recent ones I’m watching, and post mini blurbs in the MAL blog too while I’m at it. I still have to add more animes and mangas in my completed list, but I’ll procrastinate and finish that for later XD

Now if you still don’t have an MAL account, now’s the time to do so! :P

Sweet! I’m guessing Shugo Chara is on there because of the pic.
I’m so stressed! I really want to be able to read, or at least see, chapter 28 but I can’t find it! Curse the people who don’t scan their manga!

I like MAL lots. Nice interface and reasonably encyclopedic information included. I have an account on Subwire too because I find that MAL falls down a little on episode notification — Subwire is better for immediate day-to-day updates, plus they have no limit to how many notifications you can receive. If MAL would upgrade their notification service, I’d say it was the best. Until then I’ll maintain both.

Awesome! MAL is pretty much the best thing ever. And I’m not just saying that because I’m such a dedicated fangirl.

    Well. Maybe.

Wow, I never knew MAL was like a myspace/facebook thing. I thought it was only for… well, my anime list! Maybe I should join… but then again, I probably won’t have too many friends :( (although I’d probably use it just for the anime list part)

    stalk

SHES ON TO US!!! *runs away*

LOL, I think I only use MAL for the keeping track of what I(’ve) watched feature and for little else. Maybe I could start doing those little blurbs as well as opposed to straining my head for substantial blog post ideas -_-”

I’ve a MAL account too but I update it like once every few months or whenever I remember that I’ve one. Remembering, it’s time for me to update again…hmm…have to recall my user and pass. ;)

I have a MAL, but I find it troublesome to update. I gave up on it a month or so back. I’ve already watched alot of anime that I’ve not MAListed and forgotten about so it’s a bit pointless anyway!

I use MAL Updater so I don’t have to frequent the website.

[…] to that after I finish this post. Why now? Well, recently there's been a bit of a hubbub with anime bloggers making their MAL known, so I thought I'd follow suit. In before […]

If it helps, there is the MAL Updater software. It updates the list with the anime episode you’re watching with no effort from you. It works with almost all the popular players. And now it has the feature to make a list of the latest torrents in Tokyotosho from the animes in your list.

Hmmm, the MAL Updater sounds promising. I had considered MAL since Owen is constantly talking about it, but I knew I would not want to update the thing all the time.

I said this in are-are, I think, but I was never a fan of any form of social networking site. I’d rather talk to the people personally, whether on IRC and on private chat or in real life. Still, I hope you do well with this groove of yours. :)

I instinctively knew this before I looked it up, but MAL Updater is for Windows only. I’m on a Mac. Not that I care that much in this instance, but I figured I’d mention it.

I usually just update manually once a week, when I remember. Works for me. I do it more because I’m a sucker for listmaking rather than using it for socializing. ^^

@hounddog: hehe, being dedicated is great!

@Jesus159: rofl. Anyways, it’s great to see if your anime taste matches other people XD

@Icy and Nessaja: ooh, that MAL Updater tool looks really nifty indeed. I’m gonna have to check that out :3

@Blissmo: and the MAL Updater was made for people like you! :p

@Saya: eh it’s not pointless… if you forgot about the anime already then that means it’s just, forgettable lol. It’s good to see which animes made the most impact on you or something XD

@Kabitzin: go update your account Kabitzin! XD

@Mike: Hey it won’t hurt having fun with social networking stuff like this~ it makes you all connected, and it’s great! There’s not supposed to be a choice between talking/chatting with people personally, and engaging in social networking… they complement each other =/

@ thymiane87: aw, well if someone kind enough will port it to Mac! D:

but anyways, so long as we all have fun in this MAL thing, whatever purposes we might have XD
