I Earned a Negative Reputation in AnimeSuki for Approving the “Censorship” in Kure-nai, Oh the Irony!

FACE MY WRATHH!

I never really intended to rant but sigh…

I was randomly checking my animesuki forum profile today when I noticed that I was given a negative reputation for my comment regarding Kure-nai episode 4 (and also episodes 1-3, if that person reacted to my deep-frying post), for praising the anime for the changes it made to the novel. It was way back April, but I just noticed it now. He/she gave this justification for deeming my post as realll baddd: “censorship is bad. approving it is even worse.” What’s this, have I lost all my freedom to choose which of the anime and novel I prefer now? Mind you, I wasn’t outright bashing the novel, I was actually showing both sides, with a strong leaning towards the anime. And what do you know, I’ve watched till episode 6, noticed bits of the novel that was changed or wasn’t included, and I thought how nice it would be if they included that (the scene where Murasaki got hurt, the elaborate details about Shinkurou’s past, etc)! ARGGHH T___T

I couldn’t care less about the reputation stuffs, really, but I do know for a fact that I do not deserve this negative reputation. It’s not like I b*tched, like “Down with the Kure-nai novel!! you filthy book filled with pedo loli vibesss!!!!” Ok, so you (whoever you are) disapprove the censorship in the anime. Is it because you favor the additional innuendos in the novel, among others? Whatever your reasons are for preferring the novel, it’s your opinion, and I respect that. Respect mine too. Am I not a free citizen entitled to my own opinion? You’re like censoring my opinion too, with what you did.

Geez you purist coward novel fag fan. I was being civil and you STAB me behind my back, SHAME ON YOU!! If the one who did this is *that* one person I’m thinking of, shame on you indeed. I was close to becoming your fan because of the novel spoilers you’ve been giving, and you give me shit. Thanks pal!

~raging bunny, now signing off!

P.S. Please don’t mistake this post as a rant against the novel. The novel is good in its own right, and there really isn’t much loli pedo vibes in the source material either. There are a little additional innuendos in the novel, the introduction of the vulgar terms ‘condom’, ’sex friend’ and ‘lolicon’, and some naughty (yet innocent) remarks from Murasaki, but that’s it. The anime did show some of these innuendos in episode 5 as well, so they’re pretty much at par in this aspect.

P.P.S I’ve gotten over this now, and all I can say is… I love you faggots <3 Thank you for trolling my post!

    *counters with Asatte no Houkou* AnH had sourec alterations which seemed like censorship as well. I mean, we cant have armies of Onii-sans lusterizing (not a word) over loli-imouto-sans in magically delicious physical forms… wut!

  8. i think you shouldn’t put so much energy into this reputation points on AnimeSuki, i think that you are a great person and even greater blogger and on Anime Suki forum are so many people where you cannot please everyone. You should just relax and don’t care about it, you will feel much better after ignoring those things :) like we in our country say: 100 people, 100 wonders :P No one can please everyone, just trust us, who support you 100% :D

  9. Are you saying that the original novel has innuendos that have been softened in the anime? I’m asking because I have volume 1 of the manga preordered already, but I tend to shy away from (even light) novels–not a fast reader in Japanese and all that. If the Kurenai novels reward you with “pedo loli vibes” as you suggest, however, I’m more than willing to take the plunge. TIA.

  10. I’m guessing reputation points are only visual to members logged in, of which I am neither. Anyway, if it’s that bad, I’d contact a mod and dispute it with him. Maybe he can erase that vote.

  12. @lk: geez *thwacks lk*

    @Ryan: lol *pats* ^^;; well every adaptation will have source alterations, in one form or the other… but still we have the right to judge which of these is what we prefer =.=;

    @mark: NO U.

    @tj: lolz, tsk, you egotist! :P anyways, that person’s ego must have been crushed when I praised the animu… he feared that I will divert people to love the animu than the novel, oh noes~!!

    @DS: rofl, it seems quite so DS.

    @Kabitzin: who knows, he’s probably tsuntsun for me~ :P

    @psgels: yeah… they’re the real elitist jerks =.=;

    @KazumaXX: aww, thank you :3 this anger will eventually subside, I just had to let it out xD

    @mt-i: oh no don’t get me wrong mt-i… I was exaggerating that loli pedo vibes a little bit… there was a little innuendo hints in the novel, but it’s not really that much. Just what I mentioned in my comparison of episodes 1-3, minor stuff. The novel is great in its own right, just be aware of a huge SURPRISE twist later on, regarding the Kuhouin family.

    @Caitlin: I don’t really care about my points either way… I just want to rant about that person, who took my comment personally geez.

    @ShiningNinja: well he didn’t openly bash me about it, he sneakily gave me a bad reputation, and no other members knows about it! So I don’t know what’s worse =.=;

  13. It’s called ‘original work poisoning’, where you like the original work so much that you can’t stand other people liking the “OMG WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT” adaptation.

    I honestly don’t get the people here who are trolling usagi…

    @Nu
    Cancer that’s killing anime? Isn’t that taking it a bit far? What part of her blog and her actions detract from anime as a whole? She certainly isn’t upset about the rep itself, just the intention behind it.
    And as for taste; isn’t that subjective? Her views certainly don’t stray too far to extremes. Some could say a comment such as “Loli is good, learn it or gtfo of the internet” is childish, immature and disrespectful of females and disgusting. Conservatives often go as far as “loli = pedophilia”. And that’s before we even get to the fact that your comment entails that, unless people conform to your ideals that “Loli is good”, they should “gtfo of the internet”.

    *Takes a deep breath*
    Sorry for doing my own little rant, I just dislike people trolling for no reason. Well actually, I don’t like trolling at all, but yeah. If you’re going to express your views, at least try not to be stubborn and offensive.

    You’re a high leveled retard I see just like the lame blogger here.
    Childish? Did you even fucking read that moron’s post?
    All he does is whine about negative reputation. Why does he care that much anyway about it? And if you can’t get to like loli then you should fuck off, because loli is and always have been part of animes and mangas.

    Posted by Nu JAPAN | May 20, 2008, 10:44 pm
  27. You have the right to have your own opinions, and no one has the right to offend you because of them.
    I know how you feel, so I know it is difficult not to be offend of other people’s opinions.
    However IMHO I dislike censorship, especially on sexuality. As for the “loli pedo vibes”, there’s nothing wrong with that, sice this isn’t child-molesting, and the people who like it aren’t child-molesters. Yet I still respect your own opinions.

    @Nu: like everyone told you, STFU and become an hero.

    =]

    @Nu
    I don’t want a troll/flame war to break out here, but let me say this: I didn’t actually state my views on loli, I simply stated the views of the many who may not be as knowledgeable or interested in anime/manga as we are.
    I quite certain that most of the people I know personally would find the obsession with loli absurd; I simply accept that it is, as you stated, a “part of animes and mangas [sic]“.

    And yes, I did read usagi’s post. She’s upset about the intent behind the rep, not the rep itself. Your comment can be considered childish, in that you refuse to listen to others views, and try to force your own onto others, all the while being rude and offensive. We’re all intelligible people here, surely you can get a point across without being offensive and using profanity. People are usually more open to your views when you aren’t swearing and calling them offensive things; most don’t take kindly to being called lame, moronic, retarded or being compared to as a cancer.

    If we get back to usagi’s post, we’ll see that the person who left the negative rep said “censorship is bad. approving it is even worse”. Now what usagi is upset at isn’t the rep; it’s the fact that, whoever made the rep, not only decided to that usagi shouldn’t state her view on the anime (thereby “supporting” censorship in a way), but they decided to state their view, not in public, but privately. Kind of like a group of friends hanging out, and after you say something (not directed at anyone in particular), everyone nods and smiles, but one person comes around behind you, whispers a snide remark while no one else was looking.

    I accept the fact that you probably don’t see eye to eye with some of us. That’s alright. I just think that maybe, as the saying goes, “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all”. I mean, the only point you seem to have brought across is “You suck, you’re a wuss, you suck, if you don’t have the same view as me, you should just get lost”. If you have something constructive to say, I’m sure everyone would be more than happy to listen; but when the only things you say are offensive and don’t really add to the discussion in any meaningful way, perhaps it might be better not to say it.

    But to be brutally honest, if you disagree with usagi so much (it seems so anyway), why do you hang around here? A quick Google of animeblogger.net shows that you’ve had disagreements with other bloggers about the topic of loli before (and not much else). Now, I’m not going to go off and say “loli is evil pedophilia”; just please, be more mature about things. If you really disagree, you can always choose to not read this blog.

    Posted by KayDat AUSTRALIA | May 20, 2008, 11:55 pm
  29. @Caitlin: it’s ok really… I might talk to the mod, we’ll see, but this negative rep point doesn’t make me any less of a person, so screw him who gave me that. *hugs*

    @The Sojourner: LOL yes XD
    @Nu: you are seriously misinterpreting my post, mister. Not once have you seen me hating on a loli, or lolicon, especially in Kure-nai. This part of my post probably made you react oh so violently:

    It’s not like I b*tched, like “Down with the Kure-nai novel!! you filthy book filled with pedo loli vibesss!!!!”

    I never bitched like that, nor do I ever intend to. If you didn’t understand the point I was making, I was saying that I never said those harsh close-minded remarks, and yet I was given a negative rep point. I just said that I liked how the anime decided not to show the additional innuendos in the conversation with Tamaki, because it was really uncalled for. Now if they included those scenes, fine, I’d still love Kure-nai despite all that. I’m not that shallow to discredit a show just because it has a loli, or has lolicon vibes. I love Kodomo no Jikan even, if that’s not enough proof sheesh. Shall I even openly confess that I love lolis and also shotas, I find them cute and cuddly? And well, I’m just an ordinary GIRL who likes cute stuff after all.

    Have you seen my comment in the animesuki forum, and my post, btw? In any case, perhaps other people like you and the one who gave me a negative rep point had the wrong interpretation of this line…

    Now if the anime will omit even that lolicon-defense dialogue, wow, *bow to the anime staff for filtering the novel of its impurities *

    Praising the show for being pure != HATING lolicon. Please keep that in mind.

    And as KayDay has already said, I couldn’t care less about the negative rep point. I just found the justification gave (ugh, censorship ironies) and the fact that the person decided not to outright say that he was against my opinion (may it be in the forum itself, or even in PM), and just took advantage of the [anonymous and private] giving of negative rep point instead (as though he didn’t want other people to see his act of [silent] bashing against me?).

    Enough of this really… geez. please. I already said I got over this. And again, I’m not a HE.

    @LDC: yes, as stated in my long-winded comment above, I’d still love Kure-nai even if it showed us those lolicon hints… I’d still enjoy the show despite that. Heck I enjoyed the bits in the novel with Murasaki getting ‘naughty’ (as I mentioned in a wayy earlier post ). I won’t even sense anything wrong if the series pairs up Shinkurou and Murasaki as a romantic couple, really… once they grow up you’ll barely notice the age gap. Anyways, thanks for understanding, even if I do think we’re on the same side on this one still *hugs* :)

  33. It really is stupid of them to interpret that post as insulting. Some people need to stop seeing anime as just the manga/novel/whatever in motion and recognise it as a separate medium that provides a DIFFERENT experience of the source material (which probably isn’t perfect), they wouldn’t expect such a thing in films so I don’t see why this doesn’t apply. Many anime that simply followed the source material word for word are really boring (I think special a is suffering from this at the moment).
