@Nova: If you want to be popular then you have to do something about it, just not be letdown by setbacks and allow them to drive you better! That's what I constantly tell myself in much about every endeavor now.

And it's great if you're proud of your work, if no one reads it or comments on it, you can always think "heh, you guys are gonna regret not reading this post" or something, while not being all too arrogant, just being confident with your work :P

Having fun and loving what you do is the key indeed... it's really simple, but something many of us forget more often than not. Cheers to fun blogging~!

Great post. I must say that it really touched me too, if only a bit. I started my blog mainly to improve my skills in English, but I guess at some point greed for pageviews and comments stepped in. It does feel nasty when I put a lot of work into a post and nobody views it and much less comments on it. I'm often troubled by the mystery of how to gain some publicity. Sometimes I feel like quitting, because I feel like NOBODY LIEKS ME ;A;.

But even still, I think I'm having fun. Blogging hasn't become such a big deal to me (guess that's why I'm not that popular lol), but when I manage to grasp an inspiration and pull off a long TL;DR text nobody cares to read, much less comment on, there is a certain deal of satisfaction beyond just the urge to be popular. I guess it's because of my line of work - in the forestry business we're used to the fact that many people dislike us, even more numerous people think our job is something anybody can do (which it is not, I assure you), and almost nobody actually recognize our existence. But even still we keep going at it, because the work itself gives us the satisfaction. And the people, as few as they may be, who actually care.

[...] We finally reached a million pageviews last week!! Hurray! And we also made it to 9rules! Hurray2!! A big thanks to Kabitzin for the 9rules heads up, as always! We were rejected the first time, and instead of actually asking why we weren’t accepted, I moped… and thankfully enough, got enlightened and inspired to upgrade the blog + theme, organize the categories, and make this inspirational post.
