I sense a trend in the blogosphere…
I’ve been noticing this trend of a daily, weekly, or monthly digest kind of posts in the blogosphere lately, catering to different niches — anime and manga thoughts, impressions and news round-ups, blogosphere buzz news, and whatnot. Omni also joins in the news bandwagon with his Daily Doses recently. If there’s one thing I noticed among these posts (even with the current anime, manga and games news resources we have), it’s that NONE of them cater for otome gamers. Hinano and Taiyaki posts about otome games from time to time, but they’re not exactly otome game [news] resource sites either. There are a few English sites dedicated to otome games on the web, like the BL Games HQ, My NeoRomance, among others, but they aren’t really ‘connected’ with the blogosphere atm. If only I had more time to play these games, that probably would’ve been the ultimate focus of my blogging.
I haven’t been really open about this “other otaku side” of mine (I was initially thinking of doing this in LJ), but I guess it won’t hurt to reveal this now (a previous post of mine serves as a prelude to this revelation, it seems). So, *ahem* I’m a HUGE otome game otaku. How HUGE you ask? Well let’s just say that I have about 90+ percent of Japanese otome games released on the face of this planet, but I don’t necessarily own them (I only own 3 original otome games, I could buy some more if I had more monies). Get it? Name something from this list and I probably have it and yes that includes the otomeroges

Consider this a sneak preview of what to expect in the succeeding weeks. The BL there is uhm, just for laughs (notice *Junjou Romantica* there?).
As part of my ritual(s) as an otome game otaku, I keep myself updated with otome game announcements / release schedules regularly, thanks to 2ch, and I use this handy sticky notes to keep track of upcoming game releases.
For months I’ve been debating on whether or not I’ll dedicate a section of the blog for these otome game stuff. I initially planned on making release schedule list like Danny Choo (though I can’t seem to find that list now :|), but I got too lazy to prepare the layout and all those geek stuff. With the current trend of digest post(ing), I guess I can finally make this dream come true happen, by dedicating a weekly column for these otome game updates! Yosha!
I already had the honor of being called an Otome Game Meistress by a certain someone, so I guess it won’t hurt if I take this fanaticism to another level, and share these things to the outside world. It saddens me that I have yet to meet someone in real life who shares the same zeal (or any level of zeal) for otome games, but it can’t be helped given the rare few people willing to play games in Japanese =/ At least through this new blogging endeavor I’ll be able to share my joy with people, where there’s more chances of this joy being reciprocated :3 I still dream of the day I’ll be able to play this multi-player otome game Hoshigari Empusa with fellow fangurls, however
Flames, comments, and suggestions, feel free throw them in here!

I think it’s a little similar to how josei manga are not popular. Otome games are… probably mainly interesting for older girls/women?
As for myself, I have never touched an otome game before.
Nice! I like Otome games so I’ll really be looking forward to this.
Umm….. http://www.minaidehazukashii.com/hinano/category/other/games/otome-games/
But I hope you cover some of the ones I haven’t touched. Only thing on my “to play” list at the moment is Pet Detective Y’s which is on hold until I finish my visual novel.
@Sasa: hmm… I think there are young’ns out there interested in otome games as well, but it just so happens that many of us here are gaijins who don’t really play Japanese games. With the few percentage of people playing Japanese “mainstream” games, the number of otome gamers are even less
@Taiyaki: right now I’m telling you to keep an eye on the upcoming Junjou Romantica
@Hinano: ah, I was referring to a news resource kind of site for otome games hehe. There’s only little coverage of otome games in the blogosphere, which includes you, and Taiyaki, among others
Not sure if I can post lengthy reviews like yours, so I’ll just be on the lookout for news and such events lol.
Maybe with Harutoki 4 being very close to a mainstream RPG, you can try to use it to convert people
I read lijakaca’s blog for otome games related news, recommended if you haven’t seen this yet.
Ooh I thought you meant like otome game reviws woopsies.
In that case please make some insight on that one otome game where the main cahracter is a fujoshi xDDDDDDd
Looking forward to this new section of yours 8D
(p.s. i am currently working on your route in my game)
@batpig: ooh, great idea batpig
I’m gonna go check out the Wii game and see for myself, yoshi~!
and I have stumbled upon lijakaca’s blog before, but I found it lacking hehe. I’m gonna go add up to the contributors of otome game news! w00t!
@Hinano: roflll. I haven’t seen any games with a fujoshi heroine yet. The closest heroine to a fujoshi that I can think of is in this upcoming game Real Rode, where the protagonist is a fangirl otaku
and w00t, my route! lol… I wonder if you’re changing my personality there the more I get to reveal myself in this blog
haha well I’m trying my best…I think I just ended up going with the “well if it doesn’t match her exact personality it’s just a fictional game, ain’t no thang” sorta deal
@Hinano: haha well it’s all for fun, so when things become OOC we can all just laugh at it
Wait, I thought I smelled Konata in here ^^. Ryan knows nothing of gaming and things.
I’ve found your site through Liajaka and AoTan’s otome blogs. (And I was surprised to learn you’re a Pinay too.) I’ve been procrastinating to play because of the language factor but I’m inspired to start sooner after seeing all the games that you’ve played. Can you read/speak Jap? Keep up the good job!
Oh Just read the nihonggo noob gaming experience. That answered my question. hehe
@ayreesa: ohh, hi there kabayan!
Aww, good to know I inspired you, even a little. The first step is always the hardest, you just have to persist and continue on… I highly suggest playing games that has translations in gamefaqs or other sites first, to accompany you as you play. You can learn quite a lot from that already
