I was supposed to post this in my MAL blog, but after two failed attempts (due to my booboo bloopers), I decided to just make a proper post about it here, since fate seemed to be against my MAL Shugo Chara blogging anyways. Thanks to that, you’ll find me babbling about the Shugo Chara anime again (whenever I feel like it xD), after having neglected the anime for months.
I managed to catch up till the end of Nikaidou’s arc, thanks to my PSP and my 2 x 10 minutes company shuttle ride (I wouldn’t dare watch this inside my public transport commuting, which could’ve made me finish 3 episodes in a day - 2 x 30 minutes). In one word, the Nikaido arc was (B)AWWsome. It reminded me of why I loved Shugo Chara so much (aside from Amu x Ikuto <3), it's like the story of my life! (same goes with most people too I think)
I also went Q_Q when I read this part of the manga, and so long as I enjoyed both the anime and the manga, who cares about the differences right? I get to have the Amu x Ikuto raburabu doses, even though they divert from the manga, and that's enough to make me a happy fangurl. It's not everyday that you get to hear Ikuto's sexay voice (Yuuichi Nakamura <3), and certainly not with reading the manga alone. So given that, I'm just enjoying the anime for what it is, considering it as a bonus to the already excellent manga. Comparisons with the manga aside, I think the anime succeeds in what it aims to be. It's the genki dose of kids and adults, serve as the voice encouraging them to never give up on their NARITAI JIBUN!!
So yeah, hopefully before hell month of work begins, I'll be able to catch up with the rest of the episodes and get back into the SC bandwagon, especially now that it's back on track!! I miss doing my Shugo Chara commentaries ;___; This show might revive from its incomplete state to currently watching / blogging, once I get to catch up with the recent eps.

Well, it depends on the filler, personally. Can’t remember which fillers are between Nikaidou and the present (I’m a fansub watcher, so that’d be 33 for me), but there were some good ones, I think; I’ve learned to like a lot of the side characters. Even more than Ikuto. That’s not a good sign.
(Please tell me Nagehiko isn’t a side character ;_;)
But yeah, yay, Shugo Chara bandwagon, welcome back.
I think you summed it up perfectly. You have to take the anime for what it is, an adaptation. Things are bound to be different. But occasionally awkward art and animation aside, I think they’ve been following the manga pretty closely (when they follow the manga anyway…the fillers have gotten worse as time goes on I think).
But I’m surprised to learn that you dropped the anime way back before the Nikaidou arc. Though now that I think about it, lots of people did. I can still remember the outrage that followed episode 13 like it was yesterday…
@CCY: I demand you go read the manga and learn about the real Ikuto! Nao!
and rest assured that Nagihiko is not just a side character, he just took the place of Nadeshiko in the series now, look at the latest manga chapters if you want to see
@FuyuMaiden: yeah, shame on me for dropping the show hehehe. I thought how I don’t want to sit through 52 episode of Shugo Chara that time, then dropped it. But now I sure want to be in the bandwagon again, and watch till the end
