If you want to get into a manga translating career, you're gonna have to work really hard for it, and translating for scanlation groups will be a good start. It'll all depend on the kind of job you want and what field you want to be in I guess, be a translator or interpreter in whatever company hehe :) I think it's good to specialize in something else than Japanese, for more career opportunities, just my two cents.
