Shugo Chara 2nd Season, Yay or Nay?

News of the Shugo Chara 2nd season seems to be all the buzz recently, to which I have mixed feelings about, same with other people. I have yet to grow tired of all the fillers eps because I skipped (or fast-forwarded through) most of ‘em, episodes 14-15, 34-37, but still.

By the end of the 1st season, the anime would’ve covered the Daiya arc (until chapter 26), and continue on with the much-awaited Ikuto arc, which is currently ongoing (by the time episode 52 airs, the manga would’ve reached chapter 33). As fellow Shugo Chara fans have said, there won’t be enough manga material for a second season. The only reason to anticipate this would be for the Amuto stuff or the good fillers, if such a thing exists. With the new season slated to run for yet another 52 eps, airing throughout the year, I’ll be looking forward to seeing the monthly manga chapters brought to life in the anime (which will have a ratio of ~1:4, given the weekly rate of the anime and the monthly rate of the manga).

I just hope the Ikuto arc would be complete before this second season ends, so we’ll get to see more Amuto raburabu scenes! The anime better cover those chapters, or else! >E So uhm, here’s to more manga-covered anime episodes watching, and filler episode skipping? :P

Just for the record, I managed to catch up with the latest Shugo Chara episode because of this filler-skipping, and given the hordes of animes I’m looking forward to in Fall, I might just do it again to watch the majority of animes I want.

  1. Even the best manga-based mahou shoujo series have fillers (CCS, Sailormoon), and some even diverted completely (Full Moon) so I’m not surprised. The good thing about this is they’re positioning Shugo Chara to be the next show with potential to topple Pretty Cure’s domination.

    On the other hand, it can also become the next Kirarin Revolution with quality and ratings rapidly declining.

    But hell, Shugo Chara is still awesome, how can it go wrong?

  2. I had my brief “uh-oh…spoilers” moment, but I’m still all excited for it. I’m so spoiled by having wonderful seiyuu play all my favorite characters. I was at the point where I was getting ticked at Satelight for not making any more.

    The fillers will probably be bad, but I can still kind of enjoy them (I’ve liked the fillers with Rima anyway). But unless they make a character go OOC in a filler, I won’t really care too much. I need Ikuto’s arc animated. For that I can sit through tons of crap.

  3. I will gladly pay the weregild price of filler to see the Ikuto arc be rendered in anime form. It is a pity but I guess such is the way of things…hopefully it will be better than expected.

  4. YAY. I might be the only one, but I actually don’t think most of the fillers are really that bad at all. Though it has interfered with the plot from what I’ve seen (I only own the first 3 volumes), each episode still has a great message packed into it. I guess it’s give and take, but the announcement of the 2nd season just proves how successful SC has been.

  6. Nay! It’s not such a great news after all! I mean, fans of the show might look forward to it, but if one didn’t enjoy this first season, what are the chances for him to enjoy the next one?!

  7. @bluemist: the fillers of FMoS were less fun than Shugo Chara’s actually, now that I think about it. Every episode of Shugo Chara brings with it great values you can really learn from, and hence you’ll never find me mentioning that these fillers suck. I just don’t like how they get in the way of showing the main manga chunks, but that isn’t quite the case anymore XD

    @totali: yeah, Shugo Chara anime has been great in its own right. It doesn’t stray in teaching kids morals and values and the righteous path to their NARITAI JIBUN :P

  8. im actully not that happy insted of putting all those fillers in they could have done everything and ur rite there not gonna have enough manga material 2 use in da anime 30 of the episodes will be fillers soo im happy bout the second season but not that happy im only waiting 4 the amuto scenes and nothing else :lol:

    @medison: fillers are inevitable for shows like this. You either enjoy it, bear with it, or just ignore it :P

    the manga is getting better than the anime it seems. :( I’m getting depressed. They need an Ikuto ark!!! They already did the Ice CreAMU sceen already!(episode 38) They just need chapter 27 28 29 in the anime!!!!!!!!

  15. i think there will be a second season cause they still got to find the embryo and stuff and there are nine episodes left from the dia transform so there has to be another season plus amu and ikuto have to get together :XO: so yeah…

    made it look good and mostly how hot ikuto is but it started with disliking the anime and slowly growing a little fond of it but the fillers were ok but kinda pointless aside from that I hope they find material for the second season and if im still alive by then I hope I can enjoy it ^_^

  18. welll……. i dont really know how this stuff works, but maybe the anime people can wait a bit before creating a 2nd season^^ that way, they’d hav some material before creating more eps^^ plus, they can use those special chaps, and whatnot. lol and make fillers w/ amuto, nageshita/ amu, tadase/amu (only a little), oh and some kuukai/ utau ^^ i’m all for that pairing now!! lol, well, thats just my opinion>< :P :oops: :halo: :-) :D :o :x :evil: :roll: :wink: :idea: :XO: :mrgreen: lol, these faces r just too cute ^^

  19. I like the fillers there not that bad. but since i live in newyork only episodes 1-43 have been subbed. i didn’t even know aboutan ikuto arc sounds cool. i cant wait till the other episodes are subbed so i can be as up to date as y’all are. but it’s kinda hard since i got skool.

  23. its not a sceond season just second year or i should say after ep 51 is ep 52 and its not going to be called shugo chara doki the name of ep 52 is doki i know cause i’ve seen ep 51 and it gave all this info at the end on the next ep preview btw amuto fans you’ll love close to the end of ep 51 i know i did i think i’m a tinny bit over odsesed though i watched that same seen over 10 times :o :o oh well it was worth it all the way btw btw I LOVE IKUTO!!!!! :XO: :XO: :XO: hehehehe okay i’m done i think no wait you can see shugo chara epsodes 1-51 at zomganime.com but not all are subbed so don’t kill me :|

  25. OMG!!!!!! I TOTALLY WANT MORE SHUGO CHARA!!!!! SHUGO CHARA IS AWESOME! i would even want a 3rd season, I want it to be as big as Nana, Naruto or Sailor Moon!!!! It’s AWESOME!!!!and seriously….i CAN NOT have enough of IKUTO!!!!!!!!!! TOTALLY want more SEASONS and eps!! oh and the anime is REALLY REALLY GOOD and Shugo Chara never bores me. :D
