On Missing Episodic Blabbing

I finally decided to separate this chunk from my Someday’s Dreamers post to inform people that this is for everyone, aka it won’t alienate you if you’re not a Someday’s Dreamers fan because it’s not really about the show. If you’ve read my Natsu no Sora episode 04 post, feel free to skip this. or not, your call :P

Quietly anticipating many of the summer shows has left me nostalgic about the episodic-blogging nature of many of my posts before. I’m really missing it now, badly. I did mention that one of the reasons why I decided to blog was for some ego-boosting effect, but as I look deeper into my heart, I realize that my love for those shows was pure and genuine. This love is what really drove me to blog them (the attention seeking was a 2nd aim of some sort, which became one of the ultimate source of many of my silly blogging blues). Oh nostalgia~ I only have Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto ~Natsu no Sora~ (which will just be called ‘Someday’s Dreamers Natsu no Sora’ from hereon) and Natsume Yuujinchou to blame for all this cheesiness XD

I miss blogging and blabbing random stuff about the shows I watch. I miss the times when I get myself all lost in thoughts after watching an episode of the animes I anticipate, churning out whatever randomness that comes into my mind. I’m talking about KimiKiss and True Tears here, specifically. One thing I loved about episodic blogging is how it brainwashes makes me gain more appreciation for the show, or at least allow me to understand why I love or hate it. Posting about these thoughts and feelings then serve for its posterity, so I can one day look back and see what shameful things I’ve been saying XD

I miss having those round of discussions with other bloggers, going through the whole journey of following a series together with them and other visitors or commentators of the site. The True Tears and KimiKiss roundabout posts were such fun times~ Looking back at those posts sometimes make me wonder how I managed to say all those stuff, actually lol. I guess that’s what happens when my heart and mind is at peace, when I’m not thinking of anything else but wanting to share my genuine thoughts and feelings :)

  1. Usually, you have much to say when you are not too focused about how many comments you get, but replying and enjoying a conversation with those who read and comment on your entries. Once you do that, it gets fun.

*always has fun replying to people on his episodic entries, and talk a bit more*

  2. Once you’ve had episodic, nothing else can compare =D. I’ve found that discussions often hinge on the series being blogged. Some series lend themselves to really fun discourses; others… not so much.

  3. If you have things to express, do it :) Everything is good fun, even though some episodes may not stimulate, there’s bound to be some outpour along the way.

… damn, I’m missing out on the seasonal amenities.

  4. As a fellow episodic blogger, I wholeheartedly agree with the above commenters. And if you just don’t have any inspiration to write more than two paragraphs, just leave it at that. There’s no need to force yourself. ;)

PS. Am I the only one getting an incredible lag when trying to type a comment?

  5. It is a lot more fun when commenting on episodic entries so knock yourself out. There was probably somethings that made you stop episodic blogging that could be disposed of and still result in a good experience for all (case in point: I’ve never really understood heavily detailed episode summaries but that may just be me).

  6. I like episodic posts, but after you’ve read too many, you find yourself reading articles from places like The End of the World XD

  7. Sad usagijen in the snow~!!!

I was going to leave a comment on the last post, but I was busy/lazy/not in the mood.

So like, there’s those days where I feel like episodic blogging is a drag too. I end up wondering why I do it, since my blog’s purpose has kind of changed since I started it. But then I end up realizing, hey, I do it because it’s fun. I think the only time I feel like it’s a drag is when I end up blogging something like TLR that is so bad that it’s not even fun to….make fun of.

At some point, like Impz said, you stop caring about comments and you just start caring about how much you love talking about episodes when they come out. Natsu no Sora is definitely one of those shows. If you feel like getting your feelings out about a show every week, do it. That’s my logic anyways.

  8. Being a new blogger, I still have few comments on my episodic entries lols but I totally love what I’m doing and I found it very fun (especially putting on screenshots XD) so I never stop doing it…

Go go go usagijen cheer up!

  9. Haha, you shouldn’t have to restrict yourself to “EPISODE BLOGGING” and “NO EPISODE BLOGGING”, do whichever you feel like when you feel like it. Or you could always save up your thoughts on episodes and post them at a shot every once in a while.

  10. @Impz: well said, Impz-sensei. I somehow forgot that along the way, so it’s nice to go back and relive this joy again ^-^

@Kabitzin: Discussions will depend on the series, and the people who are into them, and so long as you just enjoy saying what you want to say, you’ll just be amused at the variety of responses each series gets XD

@Ryan: I’m just leaving it up to the series I’m watching to go inspire me to make a post :-) and if you’re missing out on the seasonal offerings, go and catch up! Don’t think and just do it XD

@psgels: I’ve been lazy right from the start so I really am not forcing myself to write if I don’t have anything to say XD

@Marmosette: Writing detailed episode summaries has never been my forte, and hence I decided to bid it goodbye. It’s more fun that way too.

@blissmo: you do know that Martin’s posts are a hybrid of episodic and editorial, right? I did say ‘episodic’ blogging here, but if you’ve seen my KimiKiss or True Tears posts, you’ll know it’s pretty much a hybrid too XD Well at least that’s what I want to achieve ^^

@totali: TLR didn’t deserve to be blogged in the first place lolz. Natsu no Sora is such an inspiring show, and I just hope it remains to be that way ^^

@kanzeon: glad to see that you’re off to a good start. Keep it up! :D

@issa-sa: I should’ve mentioned a disclaimer here about the episodic blogging I’m referring to. It’s talking about the episode, or a group of episodes, basically whatever I want to say about it XD Hybrid and whatsoever free form blogging hehe. I just want it to be more regular, unlike my experience last season.

  11. Oh Kimikiss! I’m also a fan of that awesome series. You’re right, I do reflect on why I like or dislike a particular episode when I do a review; that makes me think beyond “I like Claymore episode 1 because character abc is godly!” It’s also fun reading the episodic reviews of series that I’m reviewing for more opinions. I might notice one thing while the others notice the others. :-)

  12. @Hynavian: yeah, and that’s what episodic blogging is supposed to be, for sharing and discussing with friends~

  13. Yea, I guess the regularity part (or the obligation in your mind to be regular about them episodic posts) is the difficult part sometimes. You could always pull out a “Let’s discuss such-and-such show so far” randomly and no one would complain really ;P
