A Little Plea Amidst the Heated Shugo Chara Filler ‘Battle’
If the Shugo Charas are all alive and kicking IRL, they’d probably show up right in front the SC fans and call a ‘halt!’ (or a screechy ‘waitooooo!!’ from Iru) to the dorama happening in this fandom. My thoughts on this can be summed up with this one little question: Why So Serious? But you know I won’t stop there.
From what I can see, there are two extremities in the Shugo Chara fandom. There are those who really love the manga so much and rant about the fillers (the group which I also belong to, despite my lack of rant posts), and there are those who love the anime sooo much and couldn’t bear the sight of people bashing the show (unthinkable as it is for these fans that there would be hate for SC when there’s supposed to be only LOVE POWER for this anime, no matter how filler-filled it may be). The Shugo Chara Bashers bash the anime, while the Shugo Chara Crusaders bash the people who rant about the anime. The analogy I’m making here might be a little shaky, and I just hope the disparity I’m trying to show here is made clear despite this.
The ones who bash the Shugo Chara anime are far from righteous, they should know that well (myself included). But the ones who condemn the ones who bash the show are not any more righteous either. Despite the disparity in the opinions of these two sides, both of ‘em should understand the fact that opinions vary from person to person, and hence whatever views they have on Shugo Chara (or whatever animes for that matter) are not absolute. Only those who understand this well are able to remain a healthy and friendly relationship despite the disparity in their tastes.
But of course, as we know, with great fanaticism comes great SRS anime BSNS and elitism, with Shugo Chara being the case in point. In this fandom, we have elitist fans who go all RAEG when people rant about how the Shugo Chara anime sucks butt — the ones who feel insulted when people talk trash about their favorite animu, deeming these rants to be a personal attack against their tastes or whatever. What’s worse is when these Shugo Chara Crusaders of Justice start condemning people for hating the anime, and refer to them as narrow-minded. *facepalm*
All this SC bashing should not be taken personally. The same goes for opinions on much about every anime. Each and every rant made by people should even be an opportunity to show your love, to let the ones on the other side know and understand what they’re missing out on, or why they possibly feel such hate when you love it so much. If you want to shout to the world that a certain anime is the greatest anime out there in the whole wide world!!!!1!!1, fine, there’s nothing wrong with that. But the moment you personally bash people for loving or hating the shows you feel otherwise about, that’s where the nonsense dorama comes in.
Dear Shugo Chara super fans, if you want your opinions on the anime to be heard and understood, condemning the bashers is certainly not the way into their heart and mind. Aside from making a troll fool out of yourself for getting all worked up over a somewhat trivial issue, your madness energy will also be laid to waste since the bashers won’t listen to you with such an elitist arrogant voice in the first place.
If you want other people to know your side, you don’t condemn them. Instead, you become more open-minded about their opinion, try to understand where their biases are coming from, but ultimately, understand that you can only do so much to let the opposing side hear your “plea”. In the end, their own opinion will stand, and whether they decide to join the pro-faction or not is totally up to them too. If there’s one thing that Amu wants to teach y’all Shugo Chara fans, it’s that you should have an OPUN HAATO (need I explain that this is ‘open heart’?). Having an open mind (an open heart?), and humility (which is actually embedded in the qualities of an open-minded person) will make the blogosphere less dorama-tic and more love & peace & fun-filled.
Then again, the irony of this post is that whatever I said can be brushed off as “just another opinion which can be disregarded for all I care”, so who am I kidding. I can’t believe the Shugo Chara fans got all worked up with Hinano’s ranting when it’s supposedly nothing personal and for the lulz, and I can’t believe I churned out this post too. Nothing serious, all for fun~ You can just not mind me for all I care

and I was just about to watch the first epi of it today then I saw this post.

I don’t like fillers though. o_O
I was surprise this anime has over 40 episodes!
I mean…it’s shoujo, right? O_o
I’m hoping they love Skip Beat as much as this and make the anime over 50 episodes at least. >_< (Yea, I’m talking about you HAL)

Great Post! The anime community needs more wuv, twu wuv. But as a testament to Shugo Chara, the fact that the two sides feel this way shows how good the anime already is and how much better it can become. Here’s to hoping some flamers will chara-change into the happy fan that they definitely can be.
Woo! Agreed 100%! I probably belong to the group of people hating the fillers, even though I am still looking forward to more Shugo Chara (if Satelight manages to do some decent fillers, I’ll change my alliance). The stupidest thing I’ve come across has been the, “Don’t be so closed-minded! You have to love the Shugo Chara fillers.” That’s…pretty hypocritical. I’m entitled to my own opinion.
*sigh* Why is it a mahou shoujo anime that causes all this trouble? Aren’t people paying attention? Friendship~! Even among enemies! That’s the mahou shoujo way!
But yeah…seems like most of the people who are going to read this are the ones that agree. But at least thanks for that anyway. Now I get to know not everyone is unreasonable and accepts opinions. Stupid comments make me forget that we still have a lot of smart people in the SC! fandom.
YOU ARE SOOOOOOOO RIGHT!!!! if they really understood what the enime is trying to teach they wouldn’t do such things and actually what Hinano did was pretty right there are so many baaka people out there but there are people that not only watch but understands the anime they watch EVERYONE should read this post
and i’m an not very fond to the fillers but some worth it some just not hope they cover the Ikuto’s arc next season fully and less fillers prefer breaks and more main arcs than less breaks and more fillers
Yeah, I think most of it may be the younger fans, but manga and anime and all that are meant to be fun. fillers can be nice to watch if it shows a favorite scene of yours or focuses on a character you like. there’s nothing bad about fast-forwarding through it or skipping it. It may get annoying, but at least the anime is running. and even though they’re there, fillers don’t really stop most ppl from watching. to each their own. ^_^ Shugo Chara is just fun to watch, so why bring the drama?
Due to this plea being largely directed at filler fans. I believe it is only right for one to comment on this post.
The thing about many of the filler detractors is that many of them condemn episodes because they are fillers, not because they are bad episodes. I generally like filler episodes but I didn’t like episode 45, not because it was filler but because the episode ruined Saaya’s character and had wasted potential.
There are also comments among filler detractors that people should do things such as skip the filler episodes which assumes that the person they are talking to won’t enjoy those episodes. You wouldn’t tell someone to watch Lucky Star but skip the fillers because that wouldn’t make any sense at all. After all several episodes based on manga events could be skipped and still let the viewer understand the plot. Due to changes from manga to anime however several anime only episodes are required (specifically the snowboarding episodes and the episode where Kuukai pretends to lose his chara)
Lastly I must say that out of everyone involved in this so called drama. The main player who has the most inflammatory remarks is most definitely anti-filler.

@FuyuMaiden: well said, friendship amidst the antagonism indeed~ We can all get along despite being on different sides with this one really, we just have to humble ourselves, even a little, but then again that’s the hardest part in this.

@Ash-Falls-Town: First of all, sorry for the bias of this post, and thank you for that really thoughtful reply. You’ve clearly highlighted how the anti-filler fans could be in the wrong in this one, and you serve as a great example of how the fans should take all the criticisms. Though I don’t necessarily agree with the last part of your comment. The anti-filler fans might have been the “springboard” of the dorama, but that’s exactly why the help of the filler fans are necessary, to make the anti-fillers see what they’re possibly missing out on, while not being all bitchy and immature with their remarks. Let’s not point fingers at anyone shall we?
If a person dislikes the anime, or its fillers, and his/her opinion still won’t change despite how whatever convincing (assuming you did it in a calm manner), then so be it. Rejoice in the fact that you’re enjoying it, feel proud that you’re able to find enjoyment in what others can’t.
the fans bitching about the fillers need to shut up. im tired of hearing about them in blogs. first it was Hiano, now you. if there not satisfied then why dont they make a site where they can bitch about it to each other. im sry but it get very annoying

I agree with you and Hinano-san ..Ive noticed people getting all personal about Amu as if she was them or their mother or god…. I mean Im a fan soo much soo to the point I havent bothered to watch the anime because I dont want to ruin myself with fillers what are just wasting my life that I can spend wasting doing other things of more or lesser importance..I can almost equal fillers of Shugo chara to that of naruto.. whats the point of their exisitance?
And i agree with Kari426.. they really should just make a club and bash about it… People are free to have their own opinions about things one cant condem a person for having their own personal veiws… thats what makes people different..Dont force or veiws on others if you cant accept a persons veiws then obvisously the place you are is simply not for you.

It’s a great stress reliever for some people, and is supposed to be nothing personal. I can understand how rants can brush people the wrong way, but in the end, those rants are not targeted at the fans, and there’s supposed to be no reason to be agitated about it. Help calm down the ranting person (like a mahou shoujo heroine xD), if you want, not point fingers and counter it with more bitchiness. That will just make the situation worse.

But on a more serious note, you’re absolutely correct. I was thinking about hinano’s horrible experience with haters and its not cool. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion and there is no need for this anger and personal attack. Whether you like the anime or hate it that’s up to you. But if someone disagrees, don’t jump them. State your opinion and leave it.
One thing I’m seeing though, is some forum owners (not you in any way!) are attacking the anime-lovers right back. The fans of the anime tend to be younger and thus more immature and more prone to stuff like that (not saying they all are but you know). Instead of having a fit the forum owners should set an example by not responding in a negative way, unless someone’s so consistently bothersome that you want to hit them with a frying pan. That person might need it.

Your right like in 3 weeks they aired 3 fillers in a raw and i cant take it because i want to move on to ikuto’s Story and new charnari and all that PRETTY story ,,, too bad they are just pushing all things about amuto and embryo etc .. aside
@Mo0on12: That’s what we were expecting since the announcement of the 2nd season right? Looking at the bright side, at least that means they can cover the whole of the Amuto arc, because of this postponement

are the people telling the flamers to worship the anime the ones that watched it first before the manga? (haha, maybe that didnt make sense..) but ANYWAYS! i watched the anime before the manga (like always… i just recently started the manga, but i always find the anime first) i thought the anime was cute and nice. THEN i read the manga and went “WOWW” 
idk about anime or manga fans of shugo chara!, but i like both of them fine (like most people that commented) i may not enjoy fillers as much (it’s killed me for naruto, and is killing me for bleach_ *note, i have NEVER read a naruto or bleach manga) haha, i’m strange in these categories, since i dont really have an opinion for it. i enjou both, they have their pros and cons. but i liked your post
