Watching Shugo Chara with ‘Omniscient Eyes’: Going Emo Over Ikuto’s Past
Hinano has pretty much summed up what the whole chunk of the latest two chapters are, so I think I’m just gonna go emo and say my thoughts over the latest revelation about Ikuto’s past.
Watching episode 43 of the anime (the end of the Amu x Utau epic battle) while knowing the bits and pieces of Ikuto’s awfully sad past makes quite a difference, if I might say so myself. Watching the anime while knowing beforehand the train of thoughts running through Ikuto’s mind added layers of complexity and depth that I would not have imagined if I didn’t read the manga. Why Ikuto is so eager to obtain the Embryo, why he turned out to be the Ikuto that he is now. Manga spoilers, in this sense, prove to be beneficial in that it gives you the privilege of having ‘omniscient eyes’, making for advanced epiphany moments when you watch the anime.
Like Amu’s moment of epiphany in chapter 32, the moment she found out Ikuto’s past and finally understood the burden he’s carrying all this time, I found myself crying over episode 43 when I get to think about all he’s been through 
I won’t be able to see Ikuto the same way, that’s for sure, and right now, all I’m hoping is for Amu to kick Gozen and his minion’s ass and bring back Ikuto!! I’m really glad we have the Shugo Charas and also Yaya who quickly turns the mood of the series from sad emo angst-filled, to genki optimistic. That’s one of the things I really like about this series, it’s brimming with positive love energy 
On a side note, the mysterious boy who appeared a few chapters back makes another appearance in chapters 31-32. Much is yet to be revealed about this little boy, whether or not he’s related to the Embryo (or Amu and Ikuto?), etc., and we’d just have to find that out as more chapters come out.

If this follows the Sailormoon, Kamichama Karin path, he is Ikuto and Amu’s baby from the future!
I was feeling all emo about Ikuto during episode 43 too. It’s a more fulfilling way to watch the anime in a way, because even if you knew what was going to happen, you’re watching it with a new outlook.
Ikuto…I hope he comes back soon. In both the anime and manga (though when he appears in the anime I probably won’t be able to enjoy it properly, all worried about the manga).

I completely agree with you that knowing the full back story or even pieces of it makes all the difference when you’re watching the anime. Hopefully, Satelight will be able to make it just as good or perhaps, even better especially since we have great seiyuus lending their voices for the characters. ^^ They proved it capable after the Utau/Dia arc ended so I have high hopes for the Ikuto arc (and I shall scream fangirl banshee screams all the way through xD; ).
That being said, I loved Ikuto even more with everything new I learned about him (even though I think he’s kind of a dummy for being so hard on himself when it isn’t his fault but that just makes him all the more adorable). I’m sure Amu and co. will save him. I just want it to happen soon. Like, real soon. Like, NAO!!! soon.
And of course, more Amuto with it, y/y?

Are you planning t do a summary for chapter 33 when it comes out? I feel really bad for Ikuto he’s so great I hope they save him soon.
You make it sound like the lil boy might be ikuto’s and amu’s future child haha like in sailor moon(i dont think tahts the case here right?)

Could I ask 2 simple questions? Did Tadase’s grandmother die (she looks exactly like the “grandmother” from the anime, so I would say same person, so she didn’t; but I ask either way), and was there a mention of the name of Tadase’s parents and how they met the Tsukiyomi?

Ikuto’s revival will all be up to Amu and the rest of the Guardians now (mostly Amu of course 
).

@warriorhope: hmm, could be, since the kid was shown to be someone who has lost his sense of child-likeness, having fun and all that.
@Wija-chan: there’s always youtube, veoh, etc if you want to watch the episodes lol. You can just skip the filler episodes and watch episodes 38-43.
@xiao_jie88: yeah, that’s what I really love about the anime. I don’t really give much crap about the fillers, they can show as much fillers as they want, so long as they go all out when it comes to the actual manga-storyline episodes. Up until now, I’m still dreaming of the Inuyasha-like Amuto kiss scene to happen~ lolz

@foreveroblivion: Tadase’s grandmother didn’t die, she just collapsed due to some unknown circumstances (thought to be caused by Ikuto). The one who died was Tadase’s dad, from what I recall.
Tadase’s family was said to be close friends of the Tsukiyomis, though not much details were given regarding how they met.

I’ve only spoiled myself through summaries so I didn’t experience the full effect of Ikuto’s story, but it sounds soo sad.
As for my guess for the little boy, what if he’s the ‘owner’ of the Embryo in much the same way as the rest have their kokoro no tamago? hmmmm…

@Kari426: Given the semi lifelessness of the little boy (he’s the type of kid who deems eating sweets and doing fun things is a waste of time), I’m thinking that the kid will serve quite some purpose to the whole Ikuto arc (or the whole Shugo Chara). As much as I’d love him to be Amu and Ikuto’s son, I’m starting to have doubts if it’s indeed the case, given that it won’t do much to the develop the current plot lol.
@bluemist: hmmm… could be, since the time he started appearing was also the time the Embryo showed itself right after every X-egg battle. One thing for sure is the kid lost his ‘kokoro no tamago’, since the way he speaks is like those X-egg victims…
@Wija-chan: hm, not necessarily cut, but they changed the sequence of events in the anime, though they made up for it with the last epic battle with Amu and Utau. Then they’re currently prolonging the series by introducing more and more fillers…
omg Ikuto’s past is like is so sad TT^TT i really want Amu to save Ikuto from turning evil cuz of Gozen >=/ go to hell Gozen!!!

And seeing Ikuto’s new charanari in color makes him look kewl/amazing/hawt again…In black and white, I thought he looked…idk But his color looked weird. But yeah…I can’t help but keep staring at that first picture…

I like the idea of the little kid being Gozen better then him being Amu and Ikuto’s son. ( I hate those endings, they hurt my brain) But it would be interesting for there to be all this build-up and that little kid is the evil mastermind!

The school principle…who is he anyway? He was present in the family phot and looks a lot like Tadase (and Tadase’s father). I would guess he’s Tadase’s cousin on his father’s side. Since he has a different last name, I would say his mother’s the one who is a Hotori. Just guessing anyway.
And even thought I wanted the little kid to be an Amuto child, I bet he’s the embryo in human shape and the shiny egg just an illusion. But, huh, didn’t the Hoshina guy say something like the embryo still being an x-egg or something?
o my god i bet that little boy is ikuto and amu son but i also think that. That boy could be the boy that has the embryo but we just have to wait and see this is so exciting and poor ikuto

This chapter made me cry a bit.
My poor Ikuto! But it was great that Amu´s true feelings for him came out a little bit(that girl is just too dense).

I always thought the embryo belonged to Ami-chi (Amu’s sister) a lot hinting to it, I could be wrong though

I think Ikuto is cute, but I prefer if Amu would be with TADASE.. Since it’ll end like that in ANIME. I agree with someone who posted a comment too, watching the Anime is better, well you absorb all the feelings in what you are watching, background music.
Nevertheless, I love ANIME!
