Cool news! I keep meaning to read the novel, but the sheer size of the book (my college library has a translated, unabridged version in two ginormous volumes) scares me off every time. Despite that, I’m somewhat familiar with the story from other manga and anime, and it’d be interesting to see another version

wow… they just showed a documentary about genji on nhk world the other day. it was a multi-part thing and i didn’t know when they’re gonna continue it though. keep posted when this will show.

@L-chan: Ohh, interesting deduction! =O To think that a girl (Murasaki Shikibu) actually ‘promoted’ that. If Genji Monogatari is indeed based on a true story, then it means the obsession with loli and moe has been running in their blood ever since before (not to sound racist or anything)… scary o_O;;

Y’know, just the other day I was talking to my friend about Genji. We have decided that Genji is where Japan’s obsession with lolis and moe started.

Cause Hikaru Genji first met Murasaki when she was a kid and found her just too cute to pass up and ended up abducting her and raising her to be his ideal woman.

Yeah, when you read the Murasaki part of the Tale of Genji, it’s really really sketchy.
