By now, people all over the world must be making a fuss over KyoAni’s alleged cancellation of the supposedly upcoming anime adaptation of the FYG manga Tonari no 801-chan. KyoAni has not disclosed the true reasons behind this, and despite how the future of a Tonari no 801-chan anime seems bleak at the moment, they sure have succeeded in peaking people’s interest over this manga(s) / drama (apparently, the manga has been adapted to a DVD-only live-action movie (shall we call this ODV - Original Drama Video?) and I only knew about it today). Case in point would be yours truly, who just got herself to do a little research on the series, and is now itching to read the manga and/or watch the live-action adaptation. A pretty damn good marketing strategy I should say, KEIKAKU DOORI or not.
Now, after this interesting turn-of-events, more people (especially those who are updated in the anime scene and not so much in the manga scene) will be into the manga, and by the time it actually gets animated, its fanbase would’ve grown. Exponentially and internationally too.

“I Smell a Conspiracy!”
dont be ridiculous i doubt this is a move to make the manga/drama more popular. Is not like Coke was behind their scheme to make Classic Coke popular again, or that Bill Gates is actually a cyborg from the futu…. errr… I mean, there is no conspiracy… nope… nothing to see…
@lolikit: haha, you realized it way ahead me. But still, great minds think alike?
@EvilDevil: but anything is possible! Don’t underestimate the scheming powers of KyoAni!
Oh…I saw this title a few days ago.
I just passed at it on a website.
But…since it was in Japanese…I was completely clueless about what was happening with it.
I, however thought that, “Oh! The art is cute, I wanna watch this…wonder when it would be out.”
Yea..lawl
I was interested in watching…meeh I can’t believe they cancelled it so that it would get popular. D:
I sure hope they’re really not canceling it. -pouts-
That makes me kind of sad. This was one of the series that I would have checked out the first episode. It does seem suspicious though. I wonder what other evil plans is KyoAni plotting to get our viewership.
@Wija-chan and Jayers: this definitely looks interesting, the initial premise already got me hooked. I sure hope they haven’t cast aside all plans of animating this.
I hope so too…
Just when it got me interested. D:
