The End is Near

Currently in denial mode…

The end of Skip Beat, that is, and the above pic captures exactly how I feel right at this moment. I neglected watching Skip Beat a few months back, and now that I almost caught up… it’s nearing its end. NOooOOoOooo!!!! The Dark Moon is not over yet! And I want to see Ren’s awesome dad in full animated glory! And and… so much more!! I don’t want it to end yet TT____TT Where’s my season 2?? Where’s my goddamn rumored 41 eps?! This is almost like how I felt when Ouran ended, but since my relationship with Skip Beat is far more personal, this one hurts even more.

Announce the second season already so I can be this happy!

I’m also greatly saddened that Skip Beat isn’t getting enough attention, from fellow bloggers that is… you guys could write more awesome posts about it than I do, but you couldn’t do that unless you’re watching it! BAWWWW TT____TT Screw ToraDora, Skip Beat >>>>>> ToraDora!!! I’d say ToraDora is overrated, if only for how the entire ’sphere is all over it while there’s not much love for Skip Beat. Sigh.

Seleria tells me that it’s because Skip Beat doesn’t have the same depth as ToraDora (She’s the Enlightened One who sees things from an objective POV, since she also loves Skip Beat as much as I do, albeit on a less emo level). But… does ToraDora have the same AWESOMENESS level of Skip Beat? I think not!! Then again, it’s not like people can just talk about its awesomeness week per week without sounding like a broken record. I beg to disagree with the notion that “Skip Beat” doesn’t have as much depth as ToraDora, but that might just be me, and how I consider Skip Beat to be the Mirror of My Life.

Ok, I’ll stop whining and get my planned Skip Beat posts done sometime soon, though I’m afraid I can’t get by writing them without becoming biased and emo / personal…

  1. does ToraDora have the same AWESOMENESS level of Skip Beat?

Probably not. ^^ Toradora was very well done, maybe great, but didn’t SOAR! Not sure who else is watching Skip Beat! I think Extrange was, but he’s just about vanished… I wish I had the motivation to pick it up, though I might not bring any good blogging to the table.

    :) Cheers Jen

  2. WHYYYYY??!?

I thought that the 40+ episode news was true! I stopped at 21 because I know the Dark Moon arc would be long but how the heck will they end this so prematurely? I know! This will be a Special A ending, an ending which means nothing! Then all of us will be hoping for a season 2 that may never happen.

Skip Beat as an anime is great and all but it still paled in comparison to the manga. I think it failed a bit during the conversion because sometimes there’s nothing to hook me up in it. Toradora IMO was better paced but I also think it’s overrated. I mean, I thought Kannagi was better than Toradora when those two pit themselves together last season. But Kannagi ended sour while Toradora picked up the pace. I hope Skip Beat doesn’t do the same lame ending as many unfinished manga-based anime endings do.

  3. I started watching the anime but since the subs were slow I turned to the manga. Bad move. I ended up doing catch-up reading sessions until 3 AM. After that I lost interest in the anime. ^_^;

  4. @Ryan: Don’t worry about blogging, finding out more people watching it is enough reason to rejoice! XD
@bluemist: I thought so too! but hmm… I don’t know if I’m just blind, forgetful (or could I dare say unjaded by the original manga *gasp*), but I can’t understand the “failed conversion” part, except for the lack of Moko background, but I’m not too keen on that anyways. I guess it’s just a matter of lowering your standards to enjoy something to the fullest. I’d rather say, “the anime was great, the manga even more so”, to emphasize both their awesomeness.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the Skip Beat ending…! D:

@hayase: haha, badd! :P Well it might be good to pick up the anime again after some time, watch it in a marathon, for nostalgia or what XD Just don’t nitpick too much and it’ll still be a fun ride~

  5. I never heard about 40+ episodes, but if only…if only~ Stopping at the beginning of Dark Moon is going to feel like torture. And heck yes Skip Beat! > Toradora! (even though the latter is still very good). Skip Beat has so much depth that even fictional characters in the story get some development (like Mio and Natsu).

Hopefully we’ll get a second season and they can even throw in that arc with Moko that they took out. There’s so much awesomeness in Skip Beat that needs to be animated, I can’t even begin to list it all. I want a second season announcement within the year!

*sigh* Even though I’ve had my moments of doubt, now that the anime is ending I absolutely don’t want it to go.

  6. You know, it’s really frustrating to think that of all the 137+ chapter in the manga we only get slow-paced 25 episodes for this series. It’s a bit unfair because there will be lots of character development unminded in the anime. I really just wonder how they’ll portray the end of Skip Beat! anime. *sigh*

I think I’ve heard about this 40+ episodes for Skip Beat somewhere in Crunchyroll(most fans there are :vangry: ). It would be a lot better with that, right? And to think I really want to see a lot from the Skip Beat anime… :P

  7. my heart is crying with you usagijen…I also hope for a second season…maybe in fall or something, otherwise it will be sooo unfair for all of us who love Skip Beat
I also think that SB is far better than Toradora…i liked Toradora but SB has a different flavour

maybe they will do a second season when the Mio and Natsu arcs are over

hope you understand my poor english

  8. @FuyuMaiden: YES! Torture indeed ;___; it’s hard to see things end this way, too.painful. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed… second season onegai?! D:

@kirapika: it’s not really slow-paced, I actually thought they speed things up a bit in the anime, as they omitted Moko’s arc too, in lieu of the Dark Moon arc. But still, not enough!!

@kmeleon: your English is just fine! no worries XD I know it’s unfair for me to be comparing Skip Beat with ToraDora since they’re totally different, it’s just me being a spoiled brat :P Let’s all hope and pray for a second season!

  9. I agree. Toradora should have been screwed and there should be more love for skip beat!!! (that’s 3 ‘!’ for emphasis) hahah. We all could use more of kyoko and her apparitions (evil or not) than the whining and emoness of taiga and the gang! and of course, moko too. ^^

    GIVE US SEASON 2!!!

  10. As much as I love ToraDora…I think I love Skip Beat more!

Just finished watching the last episode…and probably I’ll rewatch it again this coming holy week. Honestly, as soon as I finished downloading the episode in the mornings…I watch right after…just before I go to work…This is the only series…THE ONLY ONE…who made me do that! Aaaw…I am hoping for a season 2…Will there be one???

  11. Just saw the last episode, they picked a bad place to stop. It feels so incomplete because they left it open ended without really an indication at all where the anime is going. At this point, I would rather have a cliffhanger, at least that would probably mean that there’ll be a second season.

The last episode was just bland! There was no impact at all! I want more Moko-sama ::-*:

  12. @Seleria I just saw the last epi too and thought they ended it pretty well. It makes so much sense to have a season 2 with how they ended this season. The way I saw the ending was like they ended one chapter with the start of another. So yeah, here’s hoping we get that second season.

  13. Seleria is just being tsuntsun over the lack of Moko :P Now stop whining and read the manga! *takes out her whip*

@Eri: a rewatch is on the way for me too! wheee! XD

  14. @usagijen: I would whine too for the lack of Moko. Moko is soooooooooooOoOoOoO much better in the anime than on paper. lol. :D

Season 2 can’t come any sooner T_T I miss it already.

  15. @usagijen: I just finished watching the whole Skip Beat series for like the 3rd time!!! My older brother’s going to kill me when he sees the electricity bill! Hmm…watching it again for the fourth time…And maybe re-reading the ongoing manga afterwards. kkkkkkkkkkkkkk. :?:

    Posted by Eri | April 6, 2009, 11:55 am
  16. @Seleria: I COMPLETELY ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH YOU! More MOKO-sama please!

    *praying for a second season…*

  17. Toradora is good and I like it too and it has its own awesome points, but I think SkipBeat is better. I guess one of the reasons is that it has more story and character depth, imo.

I also got fooled by the 40+ episodes rumor. I seriously thought it was true because it made sense, knowing that the Dark Moon arc was long. At least Ouran’s ending had some level of closure, but SB’s was… that final episode was just… just… WHYYYYYYY?! I demand a season 2, ASAP.

  18. I WANT SEASON 2 OF SKIP BEAT… …somebody tell me when will season 2 comes out…i craving for it..i can’t rest easy..manga is not enough, i want the anime as well…

  19. Seams like the news are old for skip beat, so it seams, everybody lost hope of a second season, or moved on to a new serie. I fell in love a few weaks ago, and already seen all the episodes and all the manga work, and i can’t tell the times i have revived the manga work like anime in my head. i’m so cut up in the serie, that i can read the manga and see the serie runing in it. But i still miss the voices. I want to laught, cry and be anxious once again by ren, kyoko, and sho. It as so much in the manga history. Please bring it back. is the 2009 year and there are still people watching the skip series over and over again. There will not be a serie like this never again.

p.s. sorry about the english, not my main language :D

  20. I still have hope for a second season for skip beat…the anime ended in march, so i know that it will take time for the second season to come out. the producers might want to wait until the manga is finished or maybe the next season will be released next year…who knows…but one thing for sure (at least in my opinion)is that this won’t be the last of the skip beat anime. the last episode was really more of a “we-want-to-torture-you” episode before the next season comes…and they totally succeeded with that!
