I think that movies do have the right to be 'good for what they are' and we shouldn't really bitch about the flaws of something that never wanted to meet our expectations, but that doesn't mean we have to like them for the reasons that others do. That's one reason why I love reading his blog. Perhaps it's the difference between blind fanboyish / fangirlish (fanpersonish? there's gotta be a good gender neutral option there somewhere) admiration that refuses to see flaws, and a balanced but easygoing perspective that recognizes the flaws, but doesn't dwell on them, choosing instead to appreciate the good parts.
