Anicon 2008: A n00b’s First Venture Into Con

I’ve never attended an anime convention all my life, until last Sunday. Hard to believe considering how much of a fangirl I am, but not surprising given my shy and timid personality *cough :P *cough* Or more appropriately, my lack of guts to attend a con without someone to accompany me. But now, I finally stepped out of my cowardly shell and attended one, and had loads of fun! I brought my best friend along with me, and met up with fellow Filipino bloggers. It somewhat became an all-girls meetup since the male anime fans I invited were busy, or just no fun :P Well Zeroblade attended the con later in the afternoon, hang out with us a little while, turned out to be the only guy in the group, and went on his way to take a look around the place, and went home not long afterwards. Don’t worry Zeroblade, we’ll have guy acquaintances in the next con since my officemates will be coming along! :P

I Will Neither Blog Nor Watch Junjou Romantica Ever Again, But…

…someone else will, in my behalf (if the subs come out, that is), considering that he is the true Junjou Romantica fan (yes you heard me write, he’s a fudanshi ). As such, it’s gonna be from a [slightly] biased POV too. I’m looking forward to reading his posts myself, knowing well that he [...]

The Serendipitous Singapore Trip Diary Part 2

The lengthy Singapore Trip narrative continued! Also, it was not until later in Day 2 that I also regretted not contacting Stripey-nii for a meet-up… totally slipped my mind x__x;

Skip Beat Anime KITAAAA!!!! Pandora’s Box, UNLOCK!

You know something’s up when I post this early, when I go out of my way looking for a way to watch this in the office because the raw got released while I was asleep! As such, the screencaps are all crappy, bear with it till I get the actual raws.

The Serendipitous Singapore Trip Diary Part 1

Finished up more tasks at work to finally wrap up our current project, and so I wasn’t able to take a ‘blogging break’ at work :P Anyways, a few days has elapsed since I came back from my trip to Singapore, but the memories is still fresh in my mind. It was wonderful, having to meet some of the SG bloggers, on top of discovering “connections” or how small the world is (further reinforcing the ‘six degrees separation’ theory), though bringing home the 7kg worth of omiyages I bought for my family (to give to 6 families, as well as my officemates) was exasperating. Almost 3/5 of my pocket money was spent on those omiyages ;__;

Anyways, I shall give a lengthy narrative of what has transpired throughout my 4-day stay in Singapore. So beware, this is gonna be really tl;dr. I decided to chop this post into two because it turned really really long.

Vampire Knight for the DS: A Bloody Love Sim Game

I’ve been slacking off quite a lot from posting about otome games lately, and I took this time to think of what my otome game posting plans really are. I’ve become lazy to continue on with the Otome Games Digest, because it’s a drag thinking of what to write about the other games I’m not wholeheartedly interested in. Instead of posting otome games news snippets in digest form, I just decided to dedicate a separate post for otome games which peak my interest enough to merit such an attention. This is also a much better ‘hook’ than the Otome Games Digest, given that the title itself hints on what game I’ll be talking about. They might be noise posts for some readers who subscribe to the blog, but whatever, so long as I’m having fun sharing about them, then that’s all that matters :D

In Lieu of the Fall Preview #3: Skip Beat Seiyuu Cast (and Director) Interview

I somewhat had the motivation to translate this fun little interview of the Seiyuu cast (and later on, director Sayama herself), though I got tired not long after and just summarized some of the parts orz. I even asked help from my sensei for this because I fail a lot, even he said this is complicated o.O I know this translation is not really accurate, but alas, I don’t think anyone else has bothered translating this, so you’ve got no choice haha. If anyone of you knows if there’s a Chinese translation available for this, do tell… that’ll help enlighten me.

In Lieu of the Fall Preview #2: Hakushaku to Yousei

I’ve been reading the Hakushaku to Yousei novel since last week (slowly, because I was preoccupied with other stuff), and I’m enjoying the read so far. The start seemed a little shaky, I had a hard time picturing the Victorian-esque Western setting due to lack of vivid details, though I’m not really sure if it’s got something to do with my lack of comprehension or the writing itself (I haven’t read enough fantasy books to be a ‘good’ critic). But that’s nothing compared to the priceless antics I’m seeing from the Fairy Doctor Lydia and the Count Edgar, and this is exactly why I actually said I’m enjoying this little adventure.

In Lieu of the Fall Preview #1: Kuroshitsuji

It’s almost time for the fall animes, and I’ve completely lost the will to finish our Fall Preview orz. So screw it, I’m just going to pimp the shows I want, hurrah! I’m also dragging my fellow chefs with this, because they have more insightful things to say than I do. *Seleria feels the cold metal gun muzzle on her neck* 8O

Missing Japan: O Glorious Foods

Sigh, I’m missing Japan, particularly the foodies. It’s been more than a year since my business trip, summer of 2007, and double’s recent post made me reminisce the time I spent in the wonderful place that is Fukuoka. I still wasn’t attached to the blog / blogging community / readers when my lucky trip happened, so I didn’t get to share about it in public. Only to Seleria and other close friends IRL ^^;

I already talked about the loot I bought during my trip, so I won’t talk about that cliché topic anymore. Instead, I’ll show you some of the foods I fell in love with during my 3-week business trip.
