Seirei no Moribito - 19 “Flight”

Synopsis: Balsa and the others think of a plan to save Chagum but the Prince wants to return to court.

Chagum has now calmed down and falls asleep. Balsa leaves him to rest and wonders what to do next.

Seirei no Moribito - 18 “The Ancient Village”

Synopsis: Balsa, Chagum, Tanda and Torogai travel to Toumi Village as the warriors and Shuga pursue them.

Balsa meets up with Tanda, Chagum and Torogai at a temple. Tanda says to Balsa that he is worried that she’d be captured by someone from court. Torogai tells Balsa that she heard about what happened. They have no choice but to go directly to Toumi Village. Chagum tells Balsa that he’d like to return to the court just once and find out more about his brother but Balsa tells him she can’t let him go. She will explain later. Balsa says that shaking off their pursuers comes first.

Seirei no Moribito - 17 “The Water Wheel in Flames”

Synopsis: The warriors discover Balsa’s hideout, Shuga finds Chagum by chance.

Touya is unaware that he is being followed as he goes to Balsa’s hideout. He finds out that no one’s home. Zen and Yun, having found the hideout, explore the surrounding area to find out what the residents of the mill look like.

Seirei no Moribito - 16 “In All Earnestness”

Synopsis: Shuga reveals the truth he discovered regarding Chagum and the Official Founding History. The search for the Prince resumes.

Shuga travels to the valley where Chagum supposedly died in order to check for Chagum’s remains, if, indeed, he died. The place is usually veiled in poisonous mist but it was cleared by the previous day’s downpour. However, the mist might return soon so Shuga must hurry.

Synopsis: Shuga finds a clue about Chagum.

Sagum has come of age and he receives a sword from the Emperor as he is now permitted to wear a sword in court. Sagum seems to have gotten thinner than before.

Seirei no Moribito - 14 “The Knot”

Synopsis: Torogai narrates what happened in the Knot.

Torogai meets with one of the water people. She learns that the Nyunga Ro Im is a spirit that expels clouds into both Nayug and Sagu and creates water. She finds out that the Yogo legend of the evil water fiend’s defeat, or rather the entire Official Founding History is wrong. She asks the water people what will happen to the child who carries the egg. The water people tell her that the egg is harmless but the Nyunga Ro Chaga, the Guardian of the Sacred Spirit, must face a harsh fate, a certain death for there is the La Lunga or Egg-eater who will come to devour the egg. The water people then panic and start to leave but Torogai grabs the leg of one of them. Torogai is told that in an even day in springtime, the Nyunga Ro Chaga must go to the Place of Celebration. She asks for further details but the water being flees. A huge sunfish-shark-like creature appears. The water people seems to be afraid of it. They must be its prey.

Seirei no Moribito - 13 “Neither Man Nor Tiger”

Synopsis: An old enemy discovers Balsa.

A day after the festival, a man finds out that Balsa is still alive, perhaps after seeing her fight in the rucha match. He goes to the ring and from the footprints left, confirms that was indeed Balsa who fought the previous night.

Synopsis: Chagum challenges a Rota boy to a rucha match

This is perhaps my least liked Seirei no Moribito episode. I guess I have to agree with most that the plot has began to drag. Well, at least this episode sets some things in motion once again.

Seirei no Moribito - 11 “Flower Wine For Tanda”

Synopsis: Saya’s soul leaves her body and Tanda performs a soul call to lead it back.


Tanda is with some people sitting around Saya who seems to be asleep. According to an old man, Saya suddenly collapsed the previous day and he thought it was the result of the flower wine she drank. Tanda asks him why flower wine was served and the old man tells him that they were celebrating. Chagum comes in and he tells Tanda that Balsa is in the city looking for Touya. He asks Tanda whether Saya is sick and Tanda tells him that when he examined her, it seemed as if her soul had left her body. Tanda explains that it is not uncommon for something to cause the soul to leave the body but usually the soul returns.
