I never thought the time would come when, after watching a totally retarded show, Id actually wholeheartedly (and proudly) say, I enjoyed it, and never felt it was a waste of time, despite how it racked my brains for being so brainlessly entertaining, and how it made me go *facepalm* and go WTF every so often. I blame my no-fun Baka Anikis, who, after being Professionals, could no longer stand watching something illogical, retarded, unintelligent, or what have you. Or they cant bring themselves to accept they actually enjoyed watching that kind of stuff, despite laughing throughout, probably they’re tsuntsun way of saying “I-i-it’s not like I enjoyed it or a-a-anything, I just found it s-silly and s-s-stupid, s’all!” Being surrounded by these NO FUN people would obviously make you similarly no-fun, or prevent you from showing your HONTOU NO JIBUN since you cant stand being ridiculed by your beloved oniichan~ for watching something they abhor or something. But ahh, enough s-s-silly dorama!

One hackneyed phrase I often hear when people talk about romance-themed series is that it’s either “realistic” or “unrealistic”. Of course, White Album is no exception. I mean, in 3 out of 4 White Album posts (and even forum posts) you’ll see these terms overused, may it be in the post itself or in the comments — people defending the series for its realism on one hand, other people complaining about how unrealistic the situations are on the other.

I remember reading this blog post / article a few months ago, about how a girl (lets call her Girl A) can perceive a [boring- or plain-looking] guy to be handsome(r) by proxy (I dont remember the exact term used, and I also cant find the article Im referring to orz) when she finds out that the guy actually has a girlfriend (lets call her Girl B), and not just any girl but someone whom Girl A considers to be on a higher ground than she is, in terms of physique or other shallow criteria for judging the better girl.

Before answering Why I Blog, I guess it would be but right to answer the question Who am I (as an anime fan and as a person)? first, in the hopes that the answer to the former question can be made clear as I answer the latter.

I celebrated my birthday weeks ago (December 13, and now its already past Christmas!), and was supposed to write my introspective birthday post — basically reflections on blogging and what it has taught me throughout these [1 2/3] years — but due to one heck of an introspective ride I made myself get into, the topic I had in mind seemed to have undergone quite some evolutions (and revolutions?), and I found myself mulling over other questions like, Why do I blog?, and When did I actually start loving anime? (since my [past] love affair with it seemed nothing else but a fling) instead. I certainly took my time, thinking over a lot of things, and of course, writing down [almost] all my thoughts in the process.

OH SNAP!
Cosfuck, as the name implies, refers to “cosplays that are f*cked up”, a term which reeks of elitism in and of itself. By referring to a cosplay as “cosfuck”, the elitist sends out this [hidden/overt] message to the ‘accused’ cosplayer: “Your cosplay SUCKS, F*ck Off. Go Die/Pack Up your Bag and Don’t Ever Venture Into Cosplaying. Ever. Again”, placing himself/herself into this high judiciary pedestal, as though he/she was given the right by the heavens to proclaim what’s a good and bad cosplay, what’s fail and what’s not, or which certain demograph (of people endowed with great physique / features) is only entitled to the “right to cosplay”. Sounds like a cool thing to do huh? Not when it goes out of bounds, like flaming cosplayers in the public domain.

otou-sans nifty guide on RSS and the varied responses it garnered from commentators got me all curious about the percentage of our readers subscribed through our RSS feed — or more like the ones who are not subscribed, rather, impossible as it may seem that people are still not seeing wonders of RSS!!11!!

September 6 will forever be remembered as the day the 1st ever WordCamp Philippines was held (to all those who attended it, that is). Needless to say, and it was awesome! Fun and insightful, and I got to spend it with fellow anime bloggers hazy and Zeroblade too. Im pretty slow so both of them have already given their respective reports on the event, while mine is days late orz.

If the Shugo Charas are all alive and kicking IRL, they’d probably show up right in front the SC fans and call a ‘halt!’ (or a screechy ‘waitooooo!!’ from Iru) to the dorama happening in this fandom. My thoughts on this can be summed up with this one little question: Why So Serious? But you know I won’t stop there.

I was still on the verge of deciding whether follow this series, and episode 3 officially seals the deal for me. The more I watch this anime, the more I see myself in the closet otaku Haruka. She constantly reminds me of my past, present, and probably my would-be future otaku self. Her bitter experience of being shunned for her otaku hobby might have been portrayed to be a little extreme, but it really happens. Id say it actually happened to me, in a less dramatic the entire school shuns me for being an otaku way, and more of the subtle shunning treatment stereotyping ways.
