It’s only been a few months (barely 2 months) since the epic Darker than Black Rewatch Movement, and now THIS. Talk about some amazing coincidence. Could it be as issa-sa has said, that the Reappraisal Movement brought Darker than Black from the dead?! Well that’s what we’d like to think, but considering that rumors of this sequel have been circulating ever since that Bones Leakage… bummmer. Would’ve been a totally EFFIN’ coincidence if the rewatch happened without the rumors. But anyways.

I think I spent more time than necessary figuring out just what rating I’d give Darker than Black. Having been fascinated with it from start to end, and having found the coherence and thematic focus of the series to be AMA~ZING!, on top of the brilliant storytelling (guess I can proudly say, “yes! I can see what you’re talking about, Owen/Hige/0rion&Guff/other DtB fans!”) and the excellent portrayal of the characters (Without doubt, Hei is <333. To my new spunky shiny sexy black laptop, I dub thee 'Hei'!) — each of whom finally found their purpose in life, the ‘truth’ they truly believe in, what they stand for, and their place in society, I felt compelled to give it a 10. Until I finally got to the end of the series, and started thinking whether I should be more “objective” in my rating.

I’m almost done watching Darker than Black, as part of this DtB watching/rewatching movement that Hitl– I mean omo’s– err rather, Owen spearheaded, which I kinda fell behind on but somehow managed to get back to again. And while I know there’s a lot left to be revealed in the last two episodes I’m about to watch, I don’t think that will ruin the experience for me. I found it fascinating right from the start, and I don’t think that will ever change.

Synopsis: The search for the missing cat continues.
For some reasons, this episode reminds me of Murakami Haruki’s The Wind-up Bird Chronicle. Strange things do happen when one looks for a missing cat. In Guy’s case, his search led him to a garbage-littered house, perfume and a sock-sniffer.
I think the sock-sniffer’s situation [...]

Synopsis: A private detective named Guy is asked by a widow to search for her missing cat.
My initial reaction upon watching this episode was “What the heck”. This episode deviates from the usual Darker Than Black episodes. Instead of following Hei, we follow a private detective named Guy and his cosplaying [...]

Synopsis: Hei takes Havoc to Hell’s Gate so she can regain her powers and her memories (including that of Hei’s lost sister).
Hei was different in this episode. Rather than the cold, merciless Contractor who kills without remorse, or the slow Li Shengshun, we see a somehow gentle side of him [...]

Synopsis: Havoc, a feared Contractor is captured by the MI-6 and transported, with the help of the Tokyo police, to a research facility but she is kidnapped by Hei, wanting to know the truth about her sister.
Darker Than Black sure is fond of lengthy titles. Anyway, this episode introduces a new [...]

Synopsis: Mai is kidnapped and the truth regarding the flower is revealed.
Mai turns out to be a Moratorium. Unlike Contractors, Moratoria do not have to fulfill a contract for using their powers. They are, however, unable to control it. Eventually, they become Dolls. When Mai’s father found out about her [...]

Synopsis: Hei, as Li Shengshun, investigates Tahara, the sole survivor of the first expedition to Hell’s Gate. Meanwhile, something strange is happening with Mai, Tahara’s daughter.
Finally, a Darker than Black update. I have to admit the series is at the bottom of the list of spring anime I am currently following. [...]

Synopsis: Li Shengshun helps Chiaki. They run into the French guys. A fight ensues and Chiaki turns out to be only a Doll, implanted with the real Chiaki’s memories.
My opinions regarding Darker Than Black still hasn’t changed. I think the animation is inconsistent. At times, the characters are poorly drawn, like [...]
