Synopsis: A ship bound for Edo encounters bizarre things in the Dragon’s Triangle.

A minstrel on a ship bound for Edo relates the tale of how several young fishermen went out to sea, unaware of the rule that no one must leave the harbor on the fifteenth of any month. As the ship sailed on, the sky grew dark and a fog enveloped the ship. A ghost ship appeared and its ghostly passenger, a sailor said to be lost at sea one stormy night, called out to the fishermen asking for their laddles (used to remove water from a boat). Before the minstrel could continue the story, however, a young woman interrupts him saying she knows what will happen next. She says that the fishermen hand their ladles to the ghost who fills it with sea water and the fishing boat sinks.

Synopsis: The truth regarding the inn is revealed.

As the Medicine Seller stated in the previous episode, the intertwined lives of men give mononoke its form. The woman with her child, the mistress who gives the woman shelter for the night, and the man who seeks the woman are the cast. Though children’s voices are heard, there is only one child and that is the one in the woman’s womb. The Medicine Seller confirms that the mononoke is indeed a Zashikiwarashi. Now that Form is revealed, only Truth and Regret are missing.

Synopsis: A pregnant woman fleeing from her pursuer comes to an inn. The rooms, however, were all occupied except for one — a room that is mostly unused.

Mononoke is a spinoff based on the Medicine Seller from the Bake Neko story arc of Ayakashi~Japanese Classic Horror. It follows him as he deals with various spirits or mononoke. I haven’t seen Ayakashi but Mononoke should be interesting nevertheless.
